My father is in Emma and Ella Adult Family Home. It's an adult family home, so he lives with the family that owns the home. The owners are caregivers. They have two other residents there. It's more than assisted living. My father can't do anything on his own. He can't cook for himself. He can't monitor his own meds. He can't bathe himself. What I like best about the place is the caregivers that work there. I like how they treat him. They call him Grandpa, and he's treated like part of the family. The staff is terrific, very understanding, very caring, and attentive to all of their residents. He's in a single private room with a shared bathroom. The atmosphere is great. He eats the food. The dining area is like a table in the dining room of a house. They have an outdoor patio, but there's no activity center. You got one gal who can't get out of her bed, and another in a wheelchair who can't move on her own. My dad uses a walker. There's not much they could do. He just wanted to watch TV all day. There are no activities. It's a house with a backyard and a driveway with rooms. Of all the places we toured, I didn't walk out crying, thinking there's no way in hell I'm going to put my father there. It's expensive though.
