Riverside Place was a small facility. The person during the tour was very thorough, took me on a tour of the facility, and showed me a respite room. It had a little refrigerator, a big TV, a walk-in shower, and a view of the courtyard. It's a secure place, and you can't go outside and walk around, but you can go out into the little courtyard. I saw a room that had a lot of crafts in it, a place where they can go and mingle, watch TV, and do puzzles. There's a big eating hall, and there were a lot of people in there just visiting with each other. They have a bus, and they do a lot of outside activities. It's a clean facility. The staff was very nice and pleasant. They do snacks twice a day. It's nicer than most motel rooms I stay in. You didn't smell smoke or urine, and the rugs were clean.

My interactions from the staff are nothing but helpful and pleasant. The people that work here put their hearts solely towards looking after your loved ones. The facilities are comfortable and the residence are always happy as can be.

I have been looking at a place to have my grandmother stay for about 4 months now. I have looked all the way from Olympia to Ocean Shores. I really liked the homelike feel of the Karr House. They were all working on a centerpiece craft when I went the first time and just today they were all decorating the Christmas tree together. I thought it was great. They had a couple of young volunteers there who were helping with the decorating and looked very happy. I thought it made the people living there happy to see a young face. I saw many interactions between the staff and the residents that were positive and helpful. The staff seemed to honestly enjoy their work and assisted with every need with a smile. I was told the building had gone through a management change and this is the "new team" at work. My grandmother and I are going through the initial assessments to become a resident at the house. She is excited to meet new people.

My grandma Amy lived at the Karr house for approximately six months. I visited her roughly on a monthly basis. Each time I went to see her, the staff were very friendly. The first time I went to visit my grandma, I was given a short walk through of the facilities but was very pleased with what my grandma was offered. Afterwards, we went into her apartment, it was small but I felt it was perfect for her. She had a mini fridge, a microwave, her own bathroom, her own TV and bed. Basically similar to a studio apartment but smaller. They offerer daily actinides, such as her going to get her nails painted as well as weekly "field trips". They also have a "garden" area where grandma can walk around and enjoy the outdoors. I did enjoy the Karr House for several reasons. Very friendly staff, organized trips for grandma, daily actinides and a very friendly staff. My grandma is now currently in a new facility which I have not been able to critique yet but I will, very soon.
