My mother moved into Mirror Lake Village. The staff is friendly and is always looking out for all my mother's needs. I think it's just a good fit for my mom. She seems very comfortable just being there for a week. Well, I chose it for location, proximity to my home. It's very near to where I live. I looked it up before and when I called about a year and a half ago for just assisted living before she had to go to memory care, they were still building. They were still doing construction. So they didn't have any openings, so to speak, or any availability. It's good food. I mean, I took my mother to an area in the cafeteria where families could sit there with the residents if they like. They have activities Tuesday through Saturday, probably three or four different activities per day. So they try to keep them pretty active, pretty busy.

The best thing about Mirror Lake Village Senior Living Community was the size and the layout of the independent living cottages, having the attached garage, and there was enough space. It felt like my parents would be able to move their things and feel at home rather than needing to downsize even further or be cramped into a space. The thing I liked the least was that there was only one bathroom. It's a two-bedroom, one-bath and the bath is small, but the amenities for meals and things like that were all wonderful. The grounds were lovely and had some good places for my dad to be able to walk every day, which he does. As we were walking around, a couple of people stopped and talked to us, which my mother appreciated, and asked some questions about how happy they were and what they might change and they got some really good feedback and some good positive responses from the people who live there. The person that we spoke with was really lovely and very knowledgeable about the property. We went through the dining room and saw what was available and the menus. They had some excellent things. There was a theater, which was just delightful. I remember being very pleased. It's a newer facility. One of the things that was a real positive is that it was locally owned, rather than being somebody in another country who has it as an investment property and has their home offices in a different state. The fact that it was locally owned and managed was very, very appealing.

I liked the cottages in Mirror Lake Village. It's like living in an apartment. I met the director, Samantha. I asked about gluten-free meals, and they said they offered it. When I called back, they didn't offer it. They have a TV room and games for the residents. They just didn't have what we were looking for: a gluten-free kitchen.

We will be moving into Mirror Lake Village. It was clean and we have two locking garages and we don't have to pay extra for the garages. That was the number one factor because so many catalytic converters have been stolen. We get a membership in the community center. They have a very active, independent living community. There are walking trails. The staff is very amenable and they were very good in giving me advice on moving. There were hiking trails there. It's near Redondo Beach and it's also close to Federal Way shopping where my husband has coffee every morning. We had dinner there and it was excellent and we met the chef.

Mirror Lake Village was brand new. They had upper and lower floors, and they actually have an elevator that you could use to go to the upper part, and they had a very nice garage. It was also very clean. My only concern was there wouldn't be enough there for me to do since it's not all that big and they had just opened. For instance, the exercise room didn't have much in it, but the place and the staff were very nice, and they probably will have more later.

We went to Mirror Lake Village Senior Living Community. The place is brand new of course, they just opened up in March, and the cottages are very nice. They are two stories, but the two stories have an elevator. So you wouldn't have to worry about carrying groceries or anything upstairs, which is awesome. They didn't have much of a facility for working out, but the fellow that showed us around did tell us that several ladies that live there go to a pool close by. He didn't know exactly where it was, so there are some facilities available there. They have a van, they did have a full beauty salon there, which was nice. The apartments themselves were pretty spacious, we looked at a two-bedroom, two bath, it had a nice-sized kitchen, a nice-sized balcony, and some of them backed up to the road, but they still had quite a few available that didn't. We thought it was very nice. I was kind of concerned that the place was smaller, and so maybe there might not be enough activities to keep my mom busy especially in the winter months, but we liked that place.
