Mom moved from the Oregon coast into Washington Oakes in 2016 and quickly found she was “home”. Washington Oakes is a warm, caring, family home with all the amenities Mom so loved: exercise room with “her” stationary bike, daily exercise classes, Tai Chi, library, game room, many planned activities, and wonderful food (thanks Chef). The best part is the long-tenured director and staff committed to making this wonderful community a safe and welcoming home.

Washington Oakes was too old, but the people were very nice. We had lunch there and that was very nice. We saw the nurses' station, the workout room, and a studio apartment. The apartment was too small, and we at least needed two bedrooms and two baths. It had a cook stove, so you could cook in your room.

We're moving my mother into the Washington Oakes. It's a wonderful community. There are seniors of all ages. There are lots of activities for them to do. They provide shuttles for doctors' appointments and groceries. It's just a very welcoming community. I've been working with Claudia and she made the transition very easy. She was very accessible, answered all my questions, and was extremely helpful.

I'm living in Washington Oakes. I've been here for five years now, and it's been very, very good. They're very efficient here. The staff is wonderful, and the manager is very good. I highly recommend it. They have assisted living, but I'm independent. I have a 1-bedroom, and it's fine. It's 570 square feet, it has a bathroom, a little kitchen, a refrigerator, and a stove. It's cozy. Food is very good, too.

We found Washington Oakes for my brother. It has an excellent reputation and reasonable pricing. They're absolutely outstanding. There's very low staff turnover, so they have been there for an awfully long time. They have an outstanding director and medical staff and the best chef on the West Coast. All meals are prepared from scratch on-site so the food is just outstanding; anybody who stays there will tell you that. Their transportation services are great.

I saw Washington Oakes. The lobby was gorgeous. The staff seemed friendly. The place was very large. The reason why I didn't choose them was that it was the most expensive out of all of them. Also, it had really long sloping hallways that I thought might be an issue for my mom to have to maneuver. The one apartment that I saw was nice. I did see the residents doing a walking group. It looked like they have lots of great activities.

My mom was at Washington Oakes for one year. It was clean and very pretty. It was an old elementary school that they turned into an assisted living. My mom liked it, but she was no longer able to give her own insulin, and they didn't provide that service. The rooms were older, but they were nice. The staff was wonderful. Food was good. The activities were good. They had concerts, seasonal activities, game nights, and craft classes. The value was fair market value.

Washington Oakes was an older building. The place where we would have wanted to move was more expensive in the older building because it was closer to the dining room. It didn't have Wi-Fi, which we needed, and you have to pay for cable.

I'm now living in Washington Oakes. It's really good. I'm very happy with it. The rooms are really nice, big, and spacious. I'm in a studio unit. The place is really comfortable. The food is excellent. They have a hobby shop, a store, and a barbershop, too. They go on bus tours all the time. There are lot of outings all the time.

We absolutely love Washington Oakes. They are just excellent and very professional. It has a dignified environment with lots of mental and physical stimulation for seniors. The food is absolutely fabulous. My mother is a very picky eater, and she hasn’t found anything she does not like. The staff is very attentive, thorough, and watch over her very carefully. I don’t have to worry about her being neglected. I told the manager the staff is on top of everything and taking good care of all of them. It’s a larger facility, but it was easy to figure out after a while. There’s low staff turnover; everybody seems very happy to work, which is a good indication that it’s a well-run establishment. The residents seemed to be very happy; I asked them personally.

Washington Oakes was very good. I would have to give them all good marks; I did not find anything bad whatsoever. The one- and two-bedrooms were good and of adequate size. We stayed and had a very good lunch. The lady showed us a whole month-long calendar of activities and was very accommodating. She even sent me a thank you card and a gift card for Starbucks.

Washington Oakes Retirement Community was really nice and beautiful, but for me personally the financial part didn?t work out. My son also really liked it. The way they had eating was like in a restaurant, and you had more choice. You could go in when it wasn't mealtime and get snacks, which was really nice. The people were really nice.

We went to Washington Oakes. It seemed nice and caring. We didn’t get any further than the lobby, but the staff member was very welcoming. She was the one who suggested someone else to speak to because she saw that my mom needed too much care. They couldn’t take her there, so she suggested we speak to somebody else. She gave us that information right away.

I visited Washington Oakes and met two people on staff. They were really nice and somewhat knowledgeable, but the grounds looked old school, like an old brick building. It seemed fine, though. It is in a residential neighborhood within a block or two from the hospital. If you needed easy access to a medical center, you could walk there. There is a cancer center right there too, so for somebody with cancer, that would be fantastic. However, Washington Oakes didn’t seem like they provide much care, so if you needed more care, I don’t think you would go there. They did have a nurse on staff. They had set meal times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We visited Washington Oakes for my mom. It was great; that's why we selected it. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The people were very friendly. They had very good rapport with the residents. It was just a really happy upbeat place. Everybody was happy and smiling. Everybody went out of their way to visit with my mom and make her feel welcome. It was one of the best places we saw. They have a list of probably 10 activities per day. They have a very active schedule. They have gym, library, and crafts. There were a lot of happy, upbeat, and positive people. There weren't a bunch old people staring at you; there were very young active people and that's what we needed.

I have gone to Washington Oakes. It was pretty good, but they don't offer as many outings. The food was very good. They have really given us a lot of opportunities to go back, visit, and get a feeling of the place. It would probably be second on my list of places I like. The staff was nice. They had given us opportunities to see their rooms, and it was a nice, warm, inviting environment. I went with my neighbor, we liked it, and we would consider it. It is probably our second choice because they don't seem to offer as many outings.

My mom knew it was time, so she quit driving and moved into Washington Oakes. I think it'll be good for her. They have plenty of activities, all the cooking is taken care of, they provide cleaning services like changing of beddings. And transportation around town is taken care of so she can get to and from her doctor's appointments. There's also an emergency call station.
Happy!

Washington Oakes is located in a nice residential neighborhood that is close to shopping and other amenities. The building itself is beautiful! It was originally a schoolhouse in the 1900's. Residents live in their own apartments, allowing them to decorate as they wish. The center offers many trips and outings, and well as on premises restaurant, beauty salon, arts and crafts room, game room, a relaxing lobby and many other features! The staff is wonderful; everyone from the housekeepers to management is friendly and helpful. They also offer Assisted Living services for those who need it. Their staff is available 24 hours a day to help you answer any questions. Residents are close to shopping, restaurants, and various other activities, so many keep their cars on site in the centers off street parking. For those that can't drive, there are planned outings! Washington Oakes is a wonderful place to live!

I went with my Mother to Washington Oakes. Beautiful community full of life. We met the general manager, and he was a very nice guy who wanted what was best for my mom. We didn't end up moving there because my mom needed memory care, but we would have if we could.
