My husband moved into Discovery Village at the West End. I like the fact that the staff is very pleasant and very attentive. All of them have good attitudes. It's more like a home-type atmosphere. It's not like a hospital. It just had everything that I needed for him. I would highly recommend them to somebody that's searching. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. I have no complaints. The food is fresh, hot and it's good. And, all the patients were eating it, so it was all good. Every day multiple things are going on. Yesterday, they did bingo. They painted rocks or something, just hands-on one-on-one. They truly work with every person in there.

I took a tour of Discovery Village At the West End. I saw the facility. The people there were wonderful, and I really liked it. It was further away from where I wanted to be, and it was more expensive. This facility had a building that was independent living and another building that was assisted living. There was a third building that was memory care. I was invited to return and eat there. The people that I met were very friendly. The residents were very friendly. They were in the middle of a yoga class when I was there. They were very nice, and the place was very pleasant. There were two women that I met with, who were in the sales area. They were both extremely pleasant and extremely invested in their community. They love where they work, and it shows. It was not old, but it was an older facility compared to the other one I toured. The decor is not in-style for today, but it fit with the people that they have there. Their median age is 82.

Look elsewhere!! The customer/patient service is terrible. I took my father out after a week and I’m still dealing with them 5 months later as they have not done anything they promised. The employee turn over rate is extremely high I’ve spoken to 2 different executive directors and am waiting for the third one to return my numerous phone calls. This place is definitely NOT where anyone should want a loved one!!

Discovery Village At The West End is a very nice place and the people were great. It's very modern-looking and clean. It's just a beautiful building. The staff was very open to questions. The services were excellent and they had just about anything you need or want. The rooms were very nice. The dining area looked nice, well-organized and pretty large. They do trips and different things that I enjoy doing. It's in a very nice neighborhood and very close to restaurants and just about everything.

We're very happy with Discovery Village At The West End. My mom seems to love it. She's talking a lot more, and they do activities all day long, so she's out with the other residents. She seems to feel really comfortable there and she's smiling. She was playing ball today when I got there to visit, so I can't say enough good things about this place. They're doing three meals and snacks every afternoon. The staff is fabulous and love the residents. They're always updating me about my mom and the things she's done. They all have training in memory care so they know how to work with Alzheimer's patients. My mom has a beautiful room, and they have non-stop activities for them to do. If she's tired, she can just go back to her room and rest. It's a very caring community, and even though the residents have dementia, they all care about each other. One dementia patient will push another dementia patient in their wheelchair. When my mom was admitted, the staff came in on the weekend on their days off. The director of sales came to me in the airport and helped Mom get into a special van. It's just been wonderful. They try to get them a lot of variety and choices at each meal. The place is very clean and never smells. It's spotless. We think we're getting a lot of value.

The Pemberton at University Park was very expensive but nice. They're very friendly and give you lots of information so it was good.

I’m ready to move into Pemberton. The staff was upfront and knowledgeable, and the rooms were very nice and spacious. They had trips, all kinds of classes, and a theater.

How can you be comforted when every day you know that could be the last day? But my friend appeared to be very comforted with his care over at the Crossings. When I came in, it looks like a big community room. Some people were watching TV; some were doing crafts so it appears that they keep them occupied. It’s a class A assisted living place; one of the best. I think that it is very luxury type. I mean it doesn’t really give you the impression that it’s an assisted living quarters. It just doesn’t give you the impression of walking into an atmosphere where people are in critical condition and required 24-hour care. Actually, to be honest, when I went in, I was a little bit apprehensive because from the word I got, he was expected to go any day. But when I walked into the comfort that he was in, I felt a lot better. Even though he's in a room, he has his own personal pictures and even his own blanket from his home. It’s like home. His room is a little small because they’re two people in it but he has better space than the other person. I was very impressed with the place. They had told me they’d try to find him one of the best places being that would be like his final home. His family had come in and made him have a homely surrounding. He has faced the fact that he would never leave there, but he wasn’t depressed. The surroundings and the way people treat you keep you from getting depressed.
