My mom has moved into Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End. The day we moved in, they were wonderful. They helped me with everything. I could not have been more pleased. They have a salon, and they give you towels. They supply a lot of things. They have music and they have different programs. My mom will be 101 in December, so she's not doing a lot of activities, but they do have a lot to offer. My mom says the food is very good. The building is very well taken care of. The staff members have all been wonderful. Regarding activities, they have a lot of bingo and cards. I have seen residents out doing activities and they seem to be having a good time. Overall, we're very, very happy where my mom is at now.

The tour we had at Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End was fine, but it felt very much like a nursing home to me. I didn't care for it; it was not really what we were looking for for my mom. To me, it felt like a hospital setting. The one bedroom was so small, she wouldn't be able to fit her bed in there. All I saw was the dining room and a couple of small outdoor areas. It was not like they had a great big game room. The staff was very nice. Everybody was nice. It just was not the right fit. And it was expensive for what you would get.

Everybody that we met at Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End was wonderful. The receptionist couldn't have been more pleasant when we walked in. She was welcoming. The salesperson walked us around. Then we met the director of the facility and saw people up and down the hallways assisting people. They were great. The place was gorgeous. It's very much like a home inside. It was beautifully decorated and clean. It was beautiful. They have several different room varieties. The one that they had available to show us was just a single room with a bed, a chair, and its own private bedroom. So it was small, but it was nice. Their activity room was full. It's a nice large room with tables and a lot of hustle and bustle was going on and people looked like they were having a good time. We talked to one of the food service personnel and they said that they had a choice of what you wanted to eat, which we thought was good.

The Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End is very clean, friendly, and welcoming. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms are spacious and well-kept. The food is very good and he's enjoying it. They have lots of activities and socials. They have a wonderful barbershop. I think the main things he's been enjoying are the people and the dining.

I visited Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End. It was nice. It was small, but it was still clean and neat. The rooms were small, too. The staff member was very helpful. She followed up several times and called me back. The dining area looked like restaurant quality. I met the chef and she seemed nice. If you don't want to eat what they're having, sometimes they will fix something different for you. The seating areas were apart from each other. No one was really eating in the dining rooms at the time when I visited because of COVID, but they're preparing to go back to dining room eating. It was neat and clean.

Not a well run facility. Based on my own experience calling and emailing the staff, this facility is completely unresponsive to the needs of residents. They have refused to provide Call Button Reports (which show evidence of neglect). My father has had assistance for one bath in two months. When my father needed help to use the toilet, the CNA told him to defecate in his pants. When we complained of this incident, the Executive Director indicated that the staff was terminated. However, we learned from another staff that this CNA had quit that day. Based on this expereince over two months, I am constantly asking for better care for my parents. Promises are made and not delivered. Staff and management are hiding key care related risks that are putting residents in real jeopardy. Advice to Commonwealth: focus on meeting the needs of residents. Advice to the people of Richmond: stay away from the inadequate care, empty promises and actual harm that can come from the rampant neglect this facility offers residents.

I like Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End very much, but they're kind of expensive and had a very high community fee just to get in. I thought they were very nice and probably where I would want my brother to go. The person who assisted us during our visit was lovely. They also invited us for lunch. When we got there, they were getting ready to have a nice happy hour. Another thing that would be hard for us there is that they dont have furniture to give my brother so he'd have to rent his own furniture.

We visited the assisted living of Commonwealth Senior Living. It was all on one level, and it was more of a family-type atmosphere where the people that lived there can help and do things if they want to. They provided smaller care, and had better individualized attention. The staff was very friendly, and very informative. It was very convenient to where I lived. They have good, home-cooked meals, and a little garden area they can work on.

I have had 4 family members live here over the past 10 years: 2 uncles (brothers) 7 years, now deceased 1 aunt 5 years, now deceased 1 more aunt, 2 years and still there and loving every minute of it. I think this speaks volumes of our family's opinion of and love for Commonwealth Assisted Living (formerly Meadow Glen). The daily care, cleaning, laundry, food, van trips, entertainment, hair salon - everything here is top notch. The most important thing is of course the employees, and I cannot ever say enough wonderful things about the loving, caring workers. They look out for the individual, making sure they come to meals and games. When I was there a few weeks ago, the bus driver came back from the bus to find my aunt "Aren't you coming with us?" Auntie decided she'd rather visit me, but I was impressed by the interest this worker showed. The food is delicious, the dining room is homey and beautiful. I probably sound like a public relations person, but I'm not - I'm just a very happy and satisfied family member. Five stars for Commonwealth Assisted Living!

I went to Commonwealth, and everyone I talked to was really nice. I met a lot of the clients; they were up and about, rolling around, and said that they liked it there. They were adding on rooms that were bigger than their older rooms, but their older rooms were still nice and cozy 1-bedrooms. They seemed competent, and everybody looked happy there. The day I went, they had someone come with animals, and there were monkeys and birds they were putting in a van. It's a very pretty building. It's on a busy road, but I think it's far away from traffic, and they had very nice grounds. Everything was clean, painted, and looked well-kept with flowers outside. They were very expensive, and much more expensive than the others we looked at.

My mom has been in Commonwealth Assisted Living at the West End for 2 years now. It is a very clean and very nice. The people are very good and caring. She has a private room, and it has a good amount of space. She was able to take some her stuff with her. The food is very good. It is personalized and very well done.
