My mother is in The Talbot on Granby, the place is great. They have lots of activities, they offer movies, bingo, games, and bridge. She liked the other residents that are there, and she's made a lot of good close friends. They serve breakfast and dinner, the staff is nice, friendly, and helpful. The friends she has made there have been the best, so there haven't been any negative reviews. They have an exercise room, they have a library, a movie room, and they have a parking garage indoors. They have a swimming pool but it's only open in the summer, my mother wishes that they were open longer. She walks around the building a lot, they have a nice walk going around the building. The only negative is she couldn't put birdfeed out for the birds, but she's coping with it.

I toured The Talbot on Granby. The sales director was just lovely and very accommodating. I went with a friend. The place was just lovely, charming, warm, friendly, and felt very homey. We saw an empty apartment; it was a nice plus to see it empty. It's a very generous apartment at 900 square feet for a 1-bedroom. It also had a bath and a half, which is unusual I think for a 1-bedroom. I have a sleeper sofa and I'm going to have queen beds. The light quality was great. They also have a saltwater swimming pool, which is something that I would love to use for water aerobics. It's an outdoor pool, so it's seasonal. We went a couple of weeks ago, they were opening it the next week, and it's open for the whole season. We did have a meal, and it was very nice as well. They seem to have a lot of activities going on. They had chair exercises going on, and they apologized for having it in the dining room. They only served two meals a day, you can come to have lunch and pay for it if you want to, but they serve full breakfast and dinner, but you will have a full kitchen, which you can make something in your apartment. They had an ice cream social going on. The grounds were private, and it is smaller; there were 113 apartments. We drove around the neighborhood there as well. My interaction was mostly just with the sales manager, but if she's any representative of the staff, she represents very well. The other thing that impressed me was, people have been there for 20 years, and they have been open for like only 20 or 22 years. When we ate there, we had a salad and soup. The chef spoke to us about their Easter dinner with lamb, pork, ham, and all the other things. It was lovely that they fed us, and it was a bright, sunny, dining room. The light quality throughout really made a difference to me as far as being very cheery. There isn't anything that I could see that I wouldn't take advantage of being there. I liked everything that I saw, it just seemed to fit everything that I could have imagined in a place.

I chose The Talbot on Granby for my father because it's close to me and they have beautiful apartments. He's actually in a temporary room or a trial room. There's PT right on the site. They give everybody an emergency necklace. Everybody was very, very friendly. The lady that met with us and took us on the tour was extremely helpful and went above and beyond what she needed to do. They have a walking club, Texas train dominoes, game clubs, and craft clubs. They have veterans get-together once a month. They have a pool, so they have water aerobics. They have a really cute library. I think they're involved with the community as well. When I was there, they were doing a food drive for one of the local food banks. It felt like they wanted to connect with the community. They go to the museums and things like that. His apartment is beautiful. He was very impressed. When I took him, he was very reluctant and once we left, he was very much excited. They impressed him with their facility.

We like The Talbot on Granby. The rooms were nice, good sized, well kept, and well maintained. Everything was good. They have various scheduled activities as well as free time. There's a recreation room, an exercise room, an outdoor pool, a card room, they play bridge, and do bible study. The staff member was very professional, friendly, and welcoming.

I used to live in the independent living level of The Talbot on Granby, but they also had assisted for those who needed it. I had a two-bedroom apartment. They had a dining room and daily activities for the residents. They have a small area off of the restaurant where people could meet together and have wine and cheese. The dining room offered two selection for meals at night, there's also breakfast but nothing's offered for lunch. The accommodations, the rooms and attractiveness of the place is almost equal to my current community. The pricing was probably double than what I'm paying for right now.

I visited The Talbot on Granby, and it's a very nice place. It offered two meals a day and had a very strong, caring nursing staff. It was right next door to a hospital. They had a salon but not an indoor pool. They had a good variety of activities.

Everything at The Talbot on Granby was beautiful. The person that assisted me was excellent, very thorough, and very professional. Everybody at that place was very friendly. The room was beautiful, very big, very well kept, and they were getting ready for the new occupant. It was very impressive.

My father is in The Talbot on Grandby. It is very nice, welcoming, and warm. He really likes it there. They have a good program that incorporates people into the community. They have lovely amenities and large apartments. I will recommend people to go there. It is lovely. They have church services and Bible studies. They have wine, cheese, and cookie events, cards, games, and cooking demonstrations. They do lots of different things.

The Talbot on Granby was nice, but I was looking for assisted living, and you have to bring your own assistance because it is purely independent living. They have bingo, trips on the bus, and lectures.

The Talbot on Granby was very nice with a friendly atmosphere. One drawback was that it seemed like the rooms were a long way away from the elevator. The rooms looked fine, and they all had balconies. Susan was a very nice host and a very nice person. The other drawback was that it was a little bit dark with dark panels and dark wood. My house was very open and airy. However, I would not say I would not go there.

We found one that we liked: The Talbot on Granby. We looked at an empty apartment that had already been reserved, which would have fit our needs very well, but nothing else has opened up similar to that apartment since then. We've put a $500 deposit on one that might become open. All of the people who live there that we met seemed nice. The facility had a lot of activities that were available. Inside, I thought the atmosphere felt good. We looked at a very large apartment; we want as much room as possible. The one that we were shown was what we told them would be the only size we would accept, so they would have to have another one exactly like it before we would be interested. We haven't received feedback about that yet. We saw four or five different areas where they were playing cards or doing other activities in the gym area and the cafeteria area, though we didn't see the real hustle and bustle of people getting out and being really active.

I spent a couple hours a few weeks ago touring this facility looking for an apartment for my mother. This is so much more than an apartment. It has the meals and activities that I wanted for her. The sales lady took her time explaining why it would be a good fit for mother. She took me to view several different apartments to find the best fit. She didn't rush me and in the end I couldn't wait to bring mom by to see it. The apartments are spacious and of all that I have looked at, Talbot on Granby is at the top of the list. My search is over as far as I am concerned.

The Talbot on Granby was a smaller community and a little bit more intimate. We did eat lunch there, and it was very good. It's a quieter facility because it's smaller, but the apartments were very large and very nice. The staff that we met was very nice, but we didn't run into a lot of people there. Everything we saw was very clean and well-maintained. They had lots of activities. They have a happy hour on Mondays and Friday nights. They're going to have their 10th anniversary on Thursday, and they have invited my in-laws to go to that. They're going to have a singer and refreshments. They also do a number of outings. They go to the theaters, shopping, and movies every night. The apartments had high ceilings, which made them feel even larger, and they were well-maintained. Their cleaning and housekeeping staff were always there.

I visited a place called Talbot. It was more like a building where each person had their own room, but they came down to a central dining hall. The hallway is what made it look more of an apartment complex or a condominium building instead of a building that was part of a hospital. It had carpeting as opposed to tile floors. It just had a different feel to it that made it seem more homey. A nurse runs it and she's also a social worker. She showed me around and showed me the dining area. They have a movie theater, an exercise room, and a pool. She showed me an example of the room which was really nice and described what it was like to be there. To me it was a very nice place, a little bit pricey but when you get to where you need a higher level of assistance than what my father needs, then that's a possible place for him to go.

Six weeks ago, my in-laws moved into your fantastic retirement home, The Talbot on Granby in Norfolk, VA. My wife and I have not seen them happier in the past twelve years since they moved from their home town and retired in Norfolk. Prior to their move to The Talbot, they lived in a lovely apartment complex, but one that had few retirees. From the very first time they visited The Talbot, they had a terrific feeling about it - and their feelings proved to be correct. Every staff member they have had contact with has been warm, caring and professional - from the office to the maintenance to restaurant staff! Additionally, my in-laws have thoroughly enjoyed the plethora of activities offered - they feel like they are away at camp. Apparently, Five Star Senior Living has learned all of the winning ways of running a retirement facility; the company should take great pride in knowing The Talbot on Granby is a super star player on its team!

I moved my mother into this community and she has never been happier. She is a widow and very lonely at home. She now seems like her old self again and wishes she had moved in sooner. She was worried about having to get rid of her things, but the apartments are so large, she was able to bring everything she wanted. My mother is so happy that we are now talking to her sister to move there also.
