My mother is in Northern Virginia Health Care Commission at Birmingham Green for long-term care. It's good. Everybody there is very attentive. There's plenty of staff for everybody. They have bingo, trivia nights, a lot of games, and movie nights. The staff is really nice and really attentive. The food looked really good, and mom likes it. It's an older building, but it's very clean. There's no bad smell in there. It's on the pricier side, but it's worth it because 24/7 healthcare and all that are pretty expensive.

Birmingham Green was a very nice facility. I was pleasantly surprised when I went there. The staff was very friendly and even the residents seemed more lively, which was a vast improvement over some of the other places that I've been to. Overall, I felt like it was going to be a good fit for my grandfather. Not only do they do skilled nursing, but they also have memory care. If someone goes to them for nursing but then they have to go into memory care, it's nice that they can stay in the same facility. Most of the rooms are shared. There are a handful of private rooms and those are generally first come first serve, or if there's a sudden kind of medical necessity for someone to have their own room. They were nice and pretty safe. They have cooking classes, art activities, movies, groups like choruses come in, and they have a dog that lives there. I looked at the menu and it seemed decent.

Birmingham used to have a bad rap in 10 years ago but we were told it has been redone and new management so my grandmother decided to give it a try. We could not be more disappointed with the standard of care at this facility. When my grandmother would Press the bedside nurse assistance button it would take over 10 minutes each time before any nurse came in and to be met with a subpar attitude doesn't make the situation any better. The rooms are so small I barely had room to transfer my grandmother from wheelchair to bed. There were Dead beetles along the base boards. In general the nurses did not seem like they cared and often had an attitude or seemed frustrated. Each time I called the facility it took at least two phone calls to actually get through and transferred to my grandmother. Often times I would call and either nobody would speak after they said hello or put me on hold and not come back. They definitely need to be trained better and customer service. I would never send my grandmother back to Birmingham green and I would not recommend.

My wife is in Birmingham Green for rehab. The staff was just great. They have quite a bit of it too which was another reason we went there. The rooms looked like a hospital; there were two beds in the room. My wife doesn’t like the food. The dining room looks nice. They have Bingo, and they have movies.

My father has a stroke and was moved to this facility for further rehabilitation. The grounds are well kept. The facility is clean, bright, filled with art done by patients. We had an issue with his bed and room mate, but that was resolved quickly. It's an older rehab/nursing home, but the staff makes up for that. They are caring and knowledgable and he learned alot of pratical applications at this facility. They also involve the family in all the planning. I would recommend this facility to others based on the caring nature alone!
