My father has been in Carrington Cottage Memory Care Center. It's a nice place, and nice people work there. It's very homey. They have several scheduled activities a day. There are some going out trips if they're eligible. My father has a room that he shares with someone else because we are looking for a cheaper version. It's the size of a hotel room. This is memory care, so this is nothing fancy. They have a patio and a cookout and stuff. It's very clean.

My aunt was at Carrington Cottage for 15 days. The facility was very nice and very clean. Everybody was very nice and very friendly when we brought her. I think she enjoyed her stay as much as she can remember. The room was very spacious. There were lots of rooms. I don't know all the activities. I know they did some, but I'm not sure what they all were. They have a garden patio, and she enjoyed that. I also think she enjoyed the food. The day we took her, she had lunch there and they had turkey and whatnot. She is a pretty good eater anyway, she's not very picky, and I think the food was pretty good. Value for money was average from everywhere else we checked; it was what we expected. It wasn't over and above anything outside the norm.

My aunt moved into Carrington Cottage at Botetourt Commons. If I were to stop and think about the good things that certain staff individuals pay particular attention to my aunt so that they can relate that information to us, help us make decisions, and aid in the comfort for my aunt. I'm glad they have activities because she's going to need that. She's very withdrawn and confused. So there are certain individuals there that responded well to her. The facility was up-to-date, contemporary, and clean. I wish that they had Rice Krispies, which seems like a general staple to me, that they don't carry, so we have to bring that in. But the food is good from her standpoint, at least she's eating. They had a week of special activities like Hellboy Days and Circus Day. So that was fun and got them involved. Then they have the daily bingo. It's just something that pulls them out of their hallway into another good space. It doesn't feel like a prison. The room was relatively clean, fine, quite large, and good. It is big enough that somewhere in the room, she has hidden the hearing aids. Nobody's been able to find it. When my aunt got COVID, I think that they needed to improve their communication as to what her symptoms were, before she was sent off to the hospital.

I was looking for just respite care for mom and I've already made arrangements for that and that's just for two weeks. It's Carrington Cottage Memory Care Center and it was very clean and smelled very good. I liked how the lady helped out and talked and let me know everything. Also, the lady was very nice, came by to see how much my mom was able to do or not do, so that was great.

My friend moved into Carrington Cottage at Botetourt Commons before he died. He got great care there. The place was so immaculate. It was a really nice, appealing place. Absolutely outstanding and the staff was fantastic. He was in a single room and it was very large in comparison to what he had before. The bathroom was set up to accommodate handicaps like him, and it was very well kept. He got a very nice comfortable bedm and it was one of those air mats that pumps up and down so you don't get bed sores and all that. The facility was just first rate, and it's the best I've seen around here. Everybody in every room seemed to have somebody with them, walking them down the hall, and keeping them active. There were lots of activities for them that I wished we could have put him in there earlier, but we were kind of led astray on the other place. They went over and above, especially the young lady that helped us move in. She was the marketing director and she was absolutely excellent. She went out of her way to make sure that he had a dignified and comfortable last few days for both he and his wife. Although it's probably a little pricier than some we looked at, the level of care we got was above and beyond.

Beautiful community when you walk in. I love how they had different sections broken down for the residents so that only 10 or 15 residents are in each section, it makes it more family like. The staff were very friendly and you could tell they had a passion for what they were doing. The residents seem happy and I liked that they had a variety of activities available to go to. The rooms are very large and I like that the bathrooms are handicap accessible. It makes it much easier. They have drinks and snacks out for the residents which is nice. Overall it's a very nice place and we have been very happy there.

This looks like a beautiful place when you walk in. As you enter community you will see that it is not geared towards Alzheimer’s care. No stimulation, residents can’t go outside freely, they don’t allow residents to go on outings off premises unless family takes loved one out. Snacks are all prepackaged. There isn’t any gardens patio is concrete slab with no plants or greenery, no shade absolutely horrible. Resident sit un stimulated, very clinical setting. No special accommodations for persons that need changes in types of food related to decline.

Terrible service for my family member. Residents are ignored by staff when you are visiting. Most need more care and are left in bed most of the day. You will be promised a lot of care your family member will not receive. Constant falls and no aids or nurses to be found during the middle of the day..... Building is newer and nice. Residents have no outside activities unless you come and take them.
