I visited this facility

I like the rooms at Rolling Meadows Wichita Falls, they are big. Another thing is that if you get a cottage, you could smoke on the balcony, and I like that. The point I didn't like was they only serve one meal. And if you want additional meals, they're way too high up at $10. That's $20 more a day, so that's about $600 more a month for the extra meals. The staff who gave the tour was good but not as good as the one in the other community. Because of the staff who gave me the tour at the other place, I didn't have to ask a whole bunch of questions since she provided a lot of the information that I didn't even have to ask. They were nice at Rolling Meadows too, but not as knowledgeable, to me. The other place told me about their laundry facilities and gave me a brochure with the layout and other information. But in Rolling Meadows, they didn't tell me about the laundry and I didn't ask about it because there are just questions you don't remember to ask about.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Rolling Meadows for two months. It was pretty good, but one of the residents was very rude. I had a large, decorated two-bedroom. The food was good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom is happy at Rolling Meadows. It is a great facility. My mother has just been diagnosed with dementia, but now, she’s fine in the independent facility with some assistance. She has home health who comes in and checks on her in the morning and helps her get ready for the day. I would have wanted her to move closer to where I am for logistics reasons, but she does not want to move out from Rolling Meadows. As for the activities, they have exercise classes, craft classes, bingo, outings; they take them to Walmart, or they take them to the casino. They made a deal this December for the tickets so the residents can go watch "The Nutcracker". They also dine out, play lots of card games, and do Wii Bowling. My mother participates in all the activities. They offer a lot of varieties. You can be involved as much or as little as you want to. Rolling Meadows has an on-site home health. They have a clinic on site, and we switched over to the doctor on-site, so she never has to leave. She’s free to come and go as she pleases, but when the weather is bad, she never has to leave the facility. She has her doctor there, a clinic, and they have a beauty shop too. They have a dining room, but if she’s not feeling well, she could have her food brought to her apartment. There’s a lot that they offer.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm in Rolling Meadows Retirement Community now. It's a nice place. I was able to get a cottage. It's independent living, and I just enjoy it. They have a good maintenance department. Even if you have a light bulb out, they'll come and change it, and they'll be there in minutes. The food is OK. We get one meal a day without bread. We can go to eat lunch or dinner or breakfast if you want, but just one meal, and that's included in your rent. Excellent activities. They have games. They have daily exercises. On Memorial Day, they set up flags all around, and they had a singer come in and sing for us. It was wonderful.
