My mother was in Tender Living Care for three weeks. It was near where I lived. It was a group home, and I thought this will be better than a facility. I visited, and everything seemed very lovely. The owners had been out of town, and they started running it themselves again. I talked to them, they said I can bring my mother over, and I would just have to do a $500 down deposit. We got there Sunday night to get mother into this place. We sat down to sign papers, and now it's not just the $500; it's $1500. I'm in a predicament; I have my mother and all of her stuff, it's late at night, and now they've gone up $1000. I paid the money upfront to be able to get mother in that night. The next day, I went over to see how she was, and she seemed a bit out of it. The lady said she's been a little bit unruly, and they had to give her a little bit of such and such. Then, she started talking to me about putting mother on hospice. A few days went by, I went to check on mother again, and she said mother is just impossible. She won't go to bed at 7:00, and everybody had to be in bed by 7:00. I said my mother has never gone to bed at 7:00. She said they're just going to give her more sedatives. I went out and checked on her again, and mother was crawling on the floor. She couldn't even walk. They had her so drugged again. I took her straight to the hospital. She was drooling. She couldn't eat. The food was not good. The place was cramped and old. The only thing I could say is they had a decent place to park. There was nothing I loved. The owners were ugly to the clients, and they yelled at them. They had them scared to even say anything. They were cheap. They were liars. They took money. They wouldn't refund any of my money to me.
