no activities, not allowed outside, even in full sun, food not recognizable at times, other just some blender of yesterdays leftovers. never served hot, nor warm maybe not cold. staff way under-manned or just not trained to handle the residents. room temps deplorable-way hot-the cna's choice or equally cold. they control the temps. arrogant, ignorant staff, slamming doors at all times. dispensing wrong drugs to patients, forcing them to take anyway. waking up patients at any hour for no reason, all the lights on. the staff treats everyone like resident sheep.

My mother was an extended stay patient on the skilled nursing side of Sonterra Health Center. She came in with severe spinal injuries and in a lot of pain and anxiety from her poor experience at a different skilled nursing facility. However, Sonterra Health Center showed her with truly compassionate care and provided it respectfully. She had one minor issue that was immediately addressed and corrected promptly and effectively. There were many people who really went out of their way to show kindness, caring, and consideration to my mother in her time of need and I really appreciate it. One stand out person was Sean Palacio who was patient, respectful, and went out of his way to make our experience smooth. Administration ensures a friendly upbeat atmosphere that the patients and family can feel. I would recommend this facility anyone who needs to ensure the comfort of their family. Thank you, Misha

My mom was there for 2 years and received great care. I was happy with the nurses, CNA's and all the staff were very caring. They handled all special, requests we had with rapid response and a cheery attitude. My mom spent her last days there after an extended stay in the hospital and we were treated with a great deal of love and respect. My mom often told me it was the best place she could be at. Thanks for all the great service.

Everything there was great. I didn't really participate in that community. I pretty much stayed in my room. I was in a wheelchair during that time, so I was very dependent. And Sonterra was very accommodating to the needs that I had. They had Walmart outings, and they take them out for pizza. They have sit down exercises for people with wheelchairs. They had movies. I wasn't in the mood to be around people just yet, so I always ate in my room. I loved the staff; my nurses were great. I don't know a lot, but the lady who runs the activity would come and find something from the store and bring it back to me. From what I remember, the food was good. I would recommend this place to others.

The aides, the therapy, & the RNs are really good; some LVNs are too, but not all. this place is terribly understaffed, working the employees to death, the food is cold, & most of the time the morning coffee is also. But worst, the doctor that was assigned to my mother is incompetent. She prescribed potassium, along with a no-salt diet for my mother, yet didn't bother checking her electrolytes via labwork, resulting in an extremely elevated potassium level & extremely low sodium, which was discovered when I took her to the ER, sick & in pain. Terrible experience & unacceptable. This facility is considered a skilled nursing facilty, but some of the staff have shown incompetence in wound dressing, & issues with my mother's biliary drain. The aides are good, sweet people & I have no complaint against them, in fact am grateful for them. I just wish they weren't so overworked. The place is clean & fairly new, so a very nice facility/ home.
