I have to say Pecan Valley has come along way. Before the ownership change Pecan Valley was not a desired place to go. But, since the new ownership in 2019, it has really made a remarkable comeback. I live close to the facility and when my wife needed care, she was sent there. Once in 2017 and again in 2021. The staff are so different now, they are polite, caring and really take the time to care of the resident. The nurses are compassionate and willing to help when needed. I had many conversations about my wife with the Director of Nursing and she was polite and always had time for me. I would recommend the facility.

My mom, a complex care patient unable to care for herself, was at Pecan Valley for approx 2 years (2020-22). She was only at PV that long because there was a pandemic and it was not safe to move her. If not for that, we would've moved her long before we did. Don't let lip-service and a nice looking facility be your only decision makers when placing a loved one in a long-term care facility. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Go to https://www.medicare.gov/ and do a search for nursing homes and compare to other facilities. Check out what they've been cited for, penalties and fines. See if they are properly staffed and view health inspections, complaints and food-handling/sourcing results. (The info you need to make an educated decision is there.) Our awful experience with Pecan Valley's long-term recurrent issues were due to poor management, lack of communication within facility/phones and with family, inability to fix issues with poor key employee attitudes, unprofessional and lack of empathy and compassion from DON and Director. It seems that caretakers are not properly trained in safety, observation and immediate corrective action resulting in pain/discomfort and danger to my mom. During her stay, there were serious issues that I reported to the State three times in 7 months. My mom experienced recurrent UTIs, serious weight loss episodes related to malnutrition, poor oral care, and dehydration (no fresh water in rooms daily to offer). Our family's expectation for the care of my mom was purely seeking good, consistent basic care and reasonable (professional) communication with family. Even having a family member at PV practically every day, her overall care was sub-par. The therapy (PT, OT, Speech) department at PV was great - caring, thorough, and professional. The facility does look nice but that's probably the best part of PV. We did move my mom to a kinder, more caring facility with higher medicare.gov ratings. PLEASE, DO YOUR HOMEWORK & KNOW YOUR RIGHTS for your loved one's sake and your own peace. Find out who the Ombudsman is for whatever facility you select and utilize them when you need them.

Pecan Valley Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center is a clean facility. When I was there, they had activities going on. I used to take my dad to the dining room and the food looked good. It's just the nursing staff was not very helpful. My dad had a fall in his room and there was blood on the floor from his head for four days. I made sure they know that he gets dressed, as he likes to get dressed, but when I would go, he might have on one shoe or no shoe or no sock on the other foot or they let him stay in his PJs all day when he has clothes. They evicted him. They called and threatened me with the police if I didn't come to get him, even if I made it very clear that he had nowhere to go. He didn't have his house anymore and I don't have my own home. So they called the other facility, where he's at right now, and said that they're just going to send him for a behavioral review. So, they sent him. They observed his behavior for five days and tried to send him back, but they already refused him. This was the place I went to, paid with his money, signed all the information, did this and that, but that's how they got him out of there. So, I don't think he was getting what he was paying for, especially in the level of care. You need to be honest about what it is that you're offering for residents. I told them all the things about my dad because he has dementia. So, they know there are behaviors. If you can't do it, say you can't do it, so I wouldn't waste my time getting everything that are needed together for two months, then, later on, they are evicting him, because that's what they did.

My aunt stayed here after being discharged from the hospital. She went for physical therapy and came out a new woman. They have an amazing physical therapy and occupational therapy team. The nurse aides treated my aunt and I like family, and the management always kept me in the loop on changes. I could have not asked for a better place for my aunt, especially during this hard time with Covid! Keep up the great work Pecan Valley!

Can you go below 1 star? This place is such a fake - when getting the tour everything is so wonderful - You sign the paper and everything changes. Never a nurse to be found and when you do they are on the phone-personal whatever. NO ONE wants to take responsibility for anything. "It's NOT MY JOB" They want you to talk to someone else all the time. Low and behold, that person is never to be found. They don't offer to try and resolve the issues, must be someone else's job. This place STINKS, to put it nicely. This has been the most discouraging experience ever. PECAN VALLEY PATHETIC HOME.

I am a friend or relative of a resident My friend wasn't happy with Pecan Valley Rehabilitation Center, because they put very sick patients in the same room with people who are not sick. He wanted a private room, but we couldn't afford one at double the $4,500 rate making his stay $10,000 a month. It's a very expensive place with not the care to match the price. You don't have your own private room, and yet you pay $4,500 a month, and the food was not good, it's horrible. This rehabilitation/nursing home is the worst. The staff aren't professional and are not trained appropriately. If you can find a staff member - this facility has 2-CNA's for 140 beds. I will never put my family under there care EVER.

This is NOT a rehab they stick you in a room and tell you that you have to take care of yourself they are not there to wait on you. When you do get food it's not cooked and it's cold. There is no one at the nurses stations. There is one R.N. her name is Anita is the resist unprofessional and acts mad all the time. My friend has good insurance she is no charity case and even if she was no human being should be treated this way. I hope this does not fall on deaf ears something needs to be done.

My husband wasn't happy with Pecan Valley Rehabilitation Center, because he had to share a room. They put very sick patients there, and three of his roommates died. He wanted a private room, but we couldn't find any. It's a very expensive place. You don't have your own private room, and yet you pay $4,500 a month, and the food was not good. It was just not a good place.
