My mother stayed at Landing at Watercrest Shadow Creek Ranch for a week. It was a pretty new facility, and it was very good. The staff was good. We had no problems. It was a new facility, so the physical facilities were nice. I do not really have any negative comments about it. It was all in one big rectangle, so it was easy to find your way around. They had plenty of activities. They had a media room. They played the World Series for people, and they had word games.

I went and toured Landing at Watercrest Shadow Creek Ranch. It was a very nice facility. It was a little bit more expensive. We went into the lunchroom, but it was not during feeding time, so there was nobody in there. It was a nice place, just a little bit farther away than what I wanted to be for my parents. The staff who gave me the tour, his name is Jerry, and he was very, very helpful and very nice. The concierge coming in was a young lady. She was very pleasant and very welcoming to the community. They gave me a pretty good tour. They had a lot of open areas for visiting and congregating. They had a courtyard area where the residents could go out and get some sunshine all in a secured location. They had a physical therapy room. They had a media room set up for movies and popcorn. They had a cafeteria. The rooms were very nice. They were very well laid out. There was a nice layout for the bathrooms for the wheelchairs and so on. It was very well laid out. It's a newer facility, I don't know how old it is, but it looks very well-maintained. The dining area was very spacious with high ceilings. It's very modern-looking. It's a very open, bright atmosphere.

My parents have moved into the Landing at Watercrest Shadow Creek Ranch. It is an assisted living, and it is also got a memory care specialty area. My dad has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, so that is important for us because even though he is still fairly functional right now, if his Alzheimer's progresses, they actually have an entire section that is dedicated to memory care, and that is something we anticipated that we may need. My mom is pretty independent and health, and the difference between placing her there with him and in other places is that other places had kind of a per-resident based fee that was pretty high, and at the Landing she was charged a very minimal second occupancy and then a very, very small wellness plan for her, so that was a significant contributor in deciding to place them there because we want them to be together. He is the one that needs pretty intensive medical care, and they were one of the only ones that had the kind of structure that made the most sense for us to keep them together and not be paying a really high rate for her when she is very independent. She still drives, she is on very little medication, she is really still very active, and so that was probably one of the biggest considerations. The facility is fairly new, and it is very well maintained. The staff are very responsive to all of our questions and inquiries. The move-in process went very smoothly, as well as the check-in with the physician that comes there. They came by the same day that they moved in. They have a physician and a nurse practitioner that come there regularly, and that was a big, preferred opportunity, rather than taking my dad out of the facility for his visits. Those things combined, it just worked out to be a preferred place. The experience up to this point has been very, very positive. My mom and dad are happy there, they are happy with the meals, and activities, and even though it is in a restricted COVID kind of situation, they're still very comfortable, and we're very happy about that. It's one apartment unit with one bedroom and one bathroom, with a little living room and a kitchenette. It is a one unit that they get to stay in together privately. They come and give him his meds three times a day, and they help him with toileting, bathing, and dressing. So, he gets his plan of care, which they customized for him, because they assessed him before they moved in, and so we pay for his package, for all the needs that he has. On the second occupant, and someone who did not need a lot of medical care, my mom's rate as a second person was like 1/3, I think, of what the other facilities were going to charge us to have them stay together. I think my parents are really happy with the food. I know the first day that they were there the chef came out and introduced himself, and asked them if they had any particular preferences or anything. They were very happy with the selection that they were offered. They get to order menu style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they have snacks and drinks available throughout the day. They are very, very pleased with the food selection, and the quality of food. They are not allowing visitors to eat, but I am a cleared essential visitor. For their protocol we have to do this little video training, and then I have to do the COVID screening test, and all that kind of stuff. I am considered an essential visitor that can go in and visit with them, but they ask that we not do meals just for the safety of the residents. When we made the decision to move in, all the residents had already received their vaccine, and my parents got their vaccine the Monday that they moved in, so that was really good, and that was a big consideration for us that the community is being protected. I know they are limited on the activities right now. We have not really seen the whole scope of the activities that they offer. I really don't know eventually if that is going to change, but I know he has access to his physical therapy, and those therapy are on site, which is really good, and we are happy about that. When we were trying to compare apple to apples, you know side by side, where we are getting the best value out of all the ones that we were referred to and got information from, they were by far the best. The other ones probably would have been on par comparable if it was just placing my dad, but we were placing both of them.

We chose Landing at Watercrest Shadow Creek Ranch for my mother. She is moving into their memory care facility. It seems like a nice community where they care about the residents. They have nice facilities, and they seem to keep the residents engaged in activities. The staff was very comprehensive, open to questions and helpful through the process. It is very clean. It has a lot of amenities, and they keep them generally active. They have a theater room with popcorn, a salon, an activity center, and a cafe. The outdoor area was very clean.

They have very nice apartments. The caregivers are very good, and the LVNs are great. Mom's got all of her meals, housekeeping and laundry. She also gets assistance with her ADLs, and we're very, very happy with it. They have exercise classes, bingo, and dominoes and then they also have, before COVID, people that come in and do singing with them. It's a very integrated facility.
