About AutumnGrove Cottage - Humble, TX - CLOSED in Humble, Texas
AutumnGrove Cottage™ is a sixteen resident, private-pay, assisted living home specializing in care for senior adults with Alzheimers disease and other dementia-related illnesses. To use an analogy, AutumnGrove Cottage™ is to the assisted living industry what a bed and breakfast is to the hotel industry. It is smaller, homelike in design and appearance, and personal. With only sixteen residents, the staff and families get to know each other in a very personal and intimate way.
We honor our families and proactively communicate and support them through this difficult time. We help families understand the importance of home care and hospice services allowing residents to live at AutumnGrove Cottage™ through end of life.
Our Difference: We honor the resident for the person that they are today, as well as who they were yesterday. We respect their dignity, optimize their individuality and focus on their remaining strengths and abilities. Everything we do centers around Alzheimers and memory care, from our building design, staffing requirements, to our training and education programs.
There are many aspects that make AutumnGrove Cottage™ a unique concept, but the two most important differences are design and focus.
Design From the moment you drive into the driveway, our cottage looks and feels like someones private home. This is one of the cornerstones in the AutumnGrove Cottage™ belief that people should be able to age in the same manner they are accustomed to living.
Focus Alzheimers and memory care is not something we do its ALL we do. Our caregivers are universal workers. They are responsible for every need of the resident throughout their day including grooming, bathing, activities, preparing and assisting with meals. Our caregivers get to know the residents preferences and provide more personalized care. Our staff-to-resident ratio is over two times higher than most traditional assisted living facilities.

We liked AutumnGrove Cottage Humble a lot. It was a very nice place with an open area like a big living room with several sofas, chairs, and a big TV. They only had 16 people in there, and I remember everyone had his own room. The room they showed us was very clean with wood floors. It wasn't very big, but you have your own bed and a nightstand. They did not have their own bathrooms. The bathroom is in the hallway because these people could not use the bathroom by themselves, so they have one of the nurse aides take them to the bathroom to give them a bath, and dress them up in the morning. The place was small but really wonderful. What I liked most about them was that they took the people into the bathroom every two hours because they want them to remember that they need to go to the bathroom. The residents could not get out, and we could not get in without being announced, so it was very private. They have beautiful courtyard in the back where they could walk around.

I admire the patience practiced by the staff. They keep track of each individual resident's desires and needs so they can attend to them.

The care my husband received at Autumn Grove was all I could have asked for. The staff and caretakers were all attuned to the residents' needs. I have and will continue to recommend Atascocita Autumn Grove to anyone and all!

My mom has been a resident here for over two years. The home is always clean and fresh and welcoming. Mom is always groomed and dressed appropriately. Her care givers are kind and have taken the time to get to know her likes and dislikes and treat her as an individual. Many volunteers come in throughout the week to visit and give some stimulation to the residents. I love the feeling of "family" at Autumn Grove. It's a good place for mom.

Autumn Grove feels like "home" not a nursing home. It's homey and comfortable inside and landscaped very pretty and inviting outside. Everyone there is treated truly like family. I wouldn't even consider any where else for my grandmother! A God send! Truly. Thank you!

During the tour that my mother and I took, I was surprised at how 'un-nursing home' this facility felt. We were looking into assisted living for my grandfather, who was suffering with Alzheimers and Dementia, and after some research, Autumn Grove seemed like the best place to start looking. The staff seemed genuinely caring, not only to us, but in the interactions that I noticed while I was there. The grounds and the buildings were in good repair and nicely furnished, and all of the residents looked to be well taken care of. All of them were dressed nicely and seemed pretty happy. In other nursing homes and assisted living places that I've viewed, residents often seemed unkempt, with stains on clothing, unbrushed hair, etc. I had an overall 'good feeling' about the place, and I can honestly say that it was the only place that we looked at that I would have considered having my grandfather stay. Residents appeared well monitored without being 'locked up'. This seemed like a really great place from what I saw, and family members that were there visiting told us that it was a great place.
