Tarrytowne Estates seems to be reasonable compared to other places in the market. They provide the services that they say they do and the food is excellent. You can have your meals in the room or in the dining room, either way. My apartment here has a stove and refrigerator, and I have a microwave, so if you choose to cook, you can. I have a bath and a half, two bedrooms, and the living room that is in combination with the kitchen. There's a larger dressing area and a walk-in closet, and one of the bathrooms has a handicapped shower room. They have lots of activities, more than I can enumerate. I take advantage of physical therapy. You have to have a physician's order, but the physical therapist is on site and it's very user-friendly. They have a full spectrum of activities. I don't take part in a lot of them, but a lot of people do. We have a library, a courtyard, and a big koi pond. It's very attractive. There's a large area where people sit on the courtyard side, and there's a lot of activity inside the courtyard, too. The staff is excellent. However, one of the buildings has elevator issues, but they got on it right away, and they don't have dishwashers in the apartments.

Tarrytowne Estates was lovely. The people are very friendly. The manager was extremely helpful. The meal was great. We met the chef, and we liked him very much. It's the first place we visited that had everything we asked for that we could afford. They have the usual activities you find at a senior living place. The apartments are wonderful. We have a laundry room inside our apartment and two bedrooms. It was very spacious and the largest apartment we had seen on tour for that price.

My stepmom has moved into Tarrytowne Estates. We think it's a great facility. It's got great food and it's small. The staff seems very caring and hands-on with the residents. It is an independent living, but they seem to have a little bit higher level of care and concern than just a huge corporate independent living place.

My sister and her husband used to stay together at Tarrytowne Estates in Houston. That's where they moved from their residence, but my brother-in-law kept falling. The staff kept picking him up, but they eventually told my sister they could not continue doing that because that's not the kind of care they provide -- they're an independent living facility. Now he's at a rehab center. I think it's a nice place to live, though, and they keep the place clean. My wife went there so often to help my sister that they gave her a pass to wear inside so she didn't have to go check in and get her temperature taken. It's a nice place. The room where my sister is staying is nice. The residents there are nice. We have met many of the residents there. I've never seen or had much interaction with most of the staff, but from what my sister says, they do what they can to help her. For example, you can take your car there and park, and whenever she did that, sometimes the battery would go dead. One of the staff members would go in his car and jump-start her battery for her. I think that goes above what they're paid to do, so I think the staff is nice. I know they have a fitness center and exercise classes, but my sister has never done any of that.

We really like Tarrytowne Estates a lot. It has little cottages or duplexes, and we really like that. The place was kind of old but had a nice feel to it. We specially like that they're putting together 2 1-bedrooms and they would do it as you wanted it done on the inside. That really appealed to us. We had lunch there, it was very good and the menu looked very good as well. Their dining area was very nice, elegant and I really like the feel of it. The surroundings are very good, we like the area where it's located a lot. There's going to be reconstruction in there but they have a better ambiance than the other community we visited. They didn't have any kind of balconies or anything, but you walk right out into a park setting from your apartment. The staff seemed very nice and helpful. They didn't have the best food from among those we have looked at, but they also have the best price.

Tarrytowne Estates is a beautiful place. I would love to be there, but financially, I can't do it. My impression of the staff and everything is 100%. I had lunch with a couple who have been there for three years and love the place. They have a lot of activities for the residents; you name it, and they offer it. The food is good.

We have a friend whose mother has lived at Tarrytowne Estates for 11 years now. She is very active and she really likes it. The staff who assisted me was very informative, very straightforward, and he knows the community very well (including the people in it). The people seemed very friendly. Housekeeping is provided once a week. You can pay extra to have them do your wash, too. There's also a free washing machine on every floor. There is a doctor that comes once a week. They have free transportation to the doctor and to the grocery store. They have a pharmacy that delivers for free too. They have a swimming pool and outside areas for visiting. They also have games.

Tarrytowne Estates was nice. I liked dining area; it's large. I liked the outdoors of the place, the walkways, and the trees. I looked at an apartment, and it seems bigger than it really is.

We liked Tarrytowne Estates. It was in a very nice part of the city, but it was right next to an elementary school, so the traffic was bad in front. The apartments were a little too pricey. The person who helped us was very helpful and tried to help us as best he could, so that was really nice. The grounds are really pretty and had a varied number of activities.

Tarrytowne Estates was nice, and they were very friendly. The big thing about it is just it's way too expensive for me, but everything was nice. The gentleman I talked with was very nice and willing to work around things. They supplied food and utilities. He showed me a small 1-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette which was very nice and well taken care of. People looked very happy, and there was camaraderie among the people.

Tarrytowne Estates was nice, and everybody seemed happy. It would look nice when it is actually finished. I think we saw an exercise room, but it doesn’t really appeal to my brother.

We visited Tarrytowne, which was more in our price range. It had a nice feeling when we walked inside into a nice big open area. It had a really roomy feeling leading to an open dining area that I thought was nice, too. There were people sitting at the table playing puzzles. I thought it was well designed and nice.

Tarrytowne Estates helped my sister a lot and provided a bed, sofa, chair, coffee table, a TV, and TV stand. The food was excellent at first, then declined for awhile, but now it’s improving.

My father-in-law was in Tarrytowne and we were happy with it. It was a wonderful place. We loved that facility. Everything was perfect and we loved Terryrtowne. I would recommend that to anybody. It was independent living, but you could employ assisted living facilities there. That would be an extra. It was a great facility.

Tarrytowne had the meals included, but because I cook, my daughter was under the impression that if we didn't go to the meals we didn't have to pay for them. However, you pay a flat fee, and if you don't go there, it's your choice but you still have to pay for it. They had lots of activities and we enjoyed our lunch there. It was very nice, and they were very friendly. They provided rides to take me shopping, etc.; however, the rides were not handicap accessible. I'm in a wheelchair, so I still have to be going with my husband and I would be paying for things that I did not need or that I was not able to do. The kitchens in the apartments did not have a lot of stuff. They didn't have a dishwasher because they expect the people to go down to have their meals with them. I would, but it's just not my husband's personality. We weren't there long enough and I didn't delve into it once I heard about the meal plan. I would recommend it to anybody who wants and needs meals. We tried their food and we had crab cakes, but they were not to my husband's liking.

I visited another community named Tarrytowne, and I'm impressed with it. It is nice. I saw some of the apartments, and I had lunch there. The apartments were not as large as the one in the other facility. The food was OK, and the dining room is very pretty.

I have moved in at Tarrytowne Estates. I chose this facility because this was just far and above everything else I saw. The grounds are just beautiful. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They are helpful, friendly, polite, and they do anything you ask them to do. I am very, very happy. They have many room sizes and I am in a large one bedroom. They provide three meals a day if you chose to and the food is wonderful. They have just about any activities that the residents want to do. They also take the residents to places and they also show movies. You couldn’t ask for anything else.

The place was clean, but the dining room area was too small. The personnel were mostly nice, but a few of the employees obviously did not like working for this retirement community. I had a chance to walk through the buildings and toured a few different styles of rooms. This wasn't a fancy hotel, but it did offer the basic amenities to live in. Their physical therapy seemed top of the line though!
