Currently I have 2 aunts that are sisters in the facility. They have been there approximately 2 years under their care. I have developed a close relationship with facility manager and staff to where I feel comfortable with the care that they are receiving. If at anytime there is an issue or problem a phone call is made to me immediately.
What you can do with Caring
About Avalon Memory Care - Cypress Creek in Houston, Texas
Avalon Memory Care has gone to great lengths to provide a mode of care that is uniquely tailored to the special needs of the Alzheimer's victim. We are concerned with every phase of the resident's needs (physical, emotional, and social). We work to restore and support the resident's self esteem, dignity, and the resumption of as many of the daily personal tasks of which the resident is capable. Surrounded by family treasures and memories, the residents live in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms in a spacious, ranch style, one level home with built-in security features such as a secured patio and roomy backyard. They bond with and enjoy the companionship of other residents and inevitably form a 'family feeling' that eliminates the loneliness or isolation often experienced in institutional settings. They enjoy luxury accommodations including exquisite furnishings in these fine homes. We provide professional and sensitive care for the physical, emotional, mental, and social needs of our residents. Our care focuses on the safety and well-being of our residents, 24-hours a day. We have many excellent referrals and are licensed by the State of Texas as a small/large Class B Assisted Living with Alzheimer and Related Disorders certification. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: Texas Long-Term Care Provider Search

I visited Avalon Memory Care - Cypress Creek. The lady in charge of the facility was the one that gave us the tour, and she was very informative and very impressive with the questions she asked. She gave us a tour of the TV room, the dining room, and three different sized rooms. They had a lot of options as far as what kind of care they needed. They manage the medications. They had a medical staff that could request refills on prescriptions and things like that. The people there seemed caring about their residents. I think it's a really good facility and had a good staff. The staff explained that the residents were fed and it seemed fine. The dining room seemed fine. It had tables and she showed me the kitchen and everything. It was spacious and well furnished. I was very much impressed with it. It's in a good area across from Cypress Creek High School. It's in the great part of Houston. The staff mentioned that there was a beauty salon and there are places where they can play games if they want to. They can walk around as much as they want to inside or outside.

My wife moved into Avalon Memory Care. She's been there for about 2-1/2 months now, and it's really good. I believe they really care about their residents, and it's just the thing I asked them to do. I can't complain about any of the staff. They've all been very attentive, they check on her regularly, and I'm satisfied with it. It's more like a hotel with individual rooms, and she has her own room. In fact, she's in a room that's intended for two people and she's lucky enough to get it. It's a large room, and we're very happy with that. My wife's in hospice, and she's pretty much confined to the bed. I have to take a COVID test every two weeks to visit her. The food is good and sufficient. She can't eat regular food; it has to be pureed. The facility is nice and small, and it's set up specifically for patient care. It's just a little bit dark in there.

Avalon Memory Care - Cypress Creek left a lot to be desired. All the rooms you walked through were filthy and the floors were filthy. It was dingy with only a little lighting. I was not impressed. I expected to have a whole lot more out of that place coming in, and it was a total disappointment. There was not too much activity at all. It was almost like they stuck them in their chairs and were done with it. When I walked in there was no interaction, no activity, and no event going on. It looked weird, and there should have been something happening because it was like 9:30 to 10:00 in the morning. I saw residents sitting in their chairs doing nothing, and some were sound asleep. The person who gave me the tour also lacked knowledge.
