My fathers room constantly smelled like pee, we found a fallen resident in his bathroom in the dark and no one knew he was there until we alerted the staff, many of his clothes went missing or he would be wearing other people’s clothes, many times he wouldn’t be shaved or cleaned up. The list goes on. My dad is 6’4” tall. Most of his life he was well over 200 pounds. After he left the Auberge he weighed 136 pounds. Their response for his weight loss was how often he walked the halls. Yes, he was walking a lot, but that means he needed more calories to supplement that. We asked they supplement him with protein shakes, yet we would find them still in his fridge from our last visit. The staff was always nice to us, but the level of care needs to be vastly improved especially for residents who need more help. I do not recommend the Auberge at Vintage Lake.

My mom moved into the Auberge at Vintage Lake. This place was perfect for my mom. I thought she needed skilled nursing, but this place explained why she didn't, which was so helpful to me. The caregivers are completely attentive. They are with the residents the entire time. My mom is in the memory care part. They include the memory care people in all of the events, so they are not just stuck in a room. They have a beautiful table set for every meal, including linen and napkins. It's highly respectable. Even though the residents may not be aware, I'm aware of how they treat them with dignity and respect. The nursing directors, RNs, med techs, executive directors, concierges, business people, and every one of them focuses on what's best for their residents. The place is beautiful. But the beauty is enhanced by the staff. There's a main street with a cafe that has chips, cokes, water, and coffee for residents and their visitors. They have a theater, morning meetings, and a full schedule of activities. My mom's room is big enough. There's even a bird feeder outside her room. They pay close attention to the details of what each resident needs. She's well cared for, even if she's a very difficult resident. She even bites, but that does not turn the caregivers off. They continue to show my mother great care and affection.

Which is more important to you - aesthetics or quality care? Remember that you cannot judge a book by its cover. If you care about your loved one and want to play an active part in their medical care plan, this is not the place for you. They are way understaffed and no matter what pretty story they paint for you, it is easier and less expensive to sedate instead of redirecting the residents. Since they added assisted living, memory care is not being focused on at all and the activities for memory care residents are sorely lacking.

My aunt is in Auberge at Vintage Lake. I was there several times before she moved in. They have a lot of different activities going on all the time. There are lots of places for the residents to walk around and see different things. They have something called the Main Street where it's like storefronts with a movie theater, game room, and a little cafe. They have outdoor areas where they have little gardens that the residents can help grow vegetables and just different things like that. Her room is very nice. It's certainly big enough for a queen-size bed, a dresser, a couple of chairs, and a table. She has her own bathroom, complete with a shower. They have a dining room that families can use to have family dinners with the resident. I have met several other people on the staff, and they're all very friendly and willing to listen and talk with you. They just seem really good about what they're doing. They keep a monthly calendar with everything listed and they have several things going on throughout the day. Value for money is good.

The Auberge at Vintage Lake was very nice, but it was a little larger memory care. I think they had 54 residents. They had a very nice outdoor area, and they had a garden for those who wanted to grow things. They had trails throughout the exterior and nice patios. We had a tour with Sharon. She was very thorough in covering all their services. She showed us around, answered questions first, and told us about the place. She was engaged with residents, as we toured. She called him by name; she's very aware of the clients' names. It's very clean and has a unique layout. It has a main street that has a barbershop and a theater. It's like you're on a small main street in the main entrance area. Each room had a little display case outside where the resident could put their personal things to show what they're interested in. That's a nice touch. I like that. Of course, it was at the high-end price, but they had some specials that you can get some kind of discounts on too. Since my husband is a veteran, this place takes Veterans' Aid and Attendance if they're qualified for it. So that would help anyone that is looking into that. It has lovely grounds and landscaping and is very, very nice. I liked it.

It is very nice; it’s only two years old and updated. It’s a nice bright place. The people seem to be very nice too. They have a lot of activities -- dancing, family nights, and field trips. They have several dining areas, and the food seems very good, I am sitting here now watching my wife eat. The quality is fine.

We needed a secure place for both my parents, and this community had like two or three doors before you got to the outside. It had a place where they could get their hair done, a barber shop, and stuff like that. It just had a lot of security. It is new, really pretty, and it had a nice-sized apartment for a couple to live in together. What I like best is the security that people can't come in off a street and get to them easily, and the people within won't accidentally start walking down the street because they have memory issues.

It was really a nice facility. The people were very warm. The people I spoke with were very accommodating. With regards to security, they have one main entrance. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. It was very clean and very attractive. From the outside, it looked very attractive.
