My mother-in-law is in Rocky Hollow Lake House. I made a choice chart that included things such as affordability, the all-in-one pricing -- not only for the accommodations, but for the assistance with daily living because she needs help in all of the activities of daily living -- location, and proximity to my home, so my wife and I can visit frequently. Overall, Rocky Hollow assisted living met all of our parameters and then above and beyond because there were about three that met all of our parameters, but Rocky Hollow was closer and the most affordable of the final three that we considered. They were the best value for the money.

We toured Rocky Hollow Lake House for my mom. They had both assisted living and memory care. The memory care was just around the corner. The kitchen was small and Wi-fi was not that good. It was nice, but it needed to be upgraded badly. The staff was great. The scenery outside was beautiful. You could sit outside and walk around and that was beautiful. They have activities but we didn't see anything at that point. They do have stuff for them to do, a lot. They have a library and a little workroom, but those were too small. The place was clean. But it was old.

I went to look at Rocky Hollow Lake House. What I thought was best was their outside area. They had fabulous grounds out back, and I really liked that. It looked like the facility might be a little rundown, like some of the common areas where the furnishings weren't the best. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everybody was just kind of sitting around in a TV room. There were some people walking in the hallways, but I didn't observe any activity.

I had an immediate phone call from the director of Rocky Hollow Lake House the day before my tour. When I got to the site everything was like what she told me. They seemed to have lots of staff. The place was clean and the rooms were a really good size. They had wood floors so it was homey. There were no weird smells. I didn't see any tears or holes in the sheetrock. I thought that it was a very respectable place. We toured the memory care area and they have the end-of-life capability. They have a doctor that comes in and visits. They also have a barber/beautician that comes in, all the meals are provided, and a really nice, beautiful area where people can go out and sit at a gazebo and enjoy the lawn. We also liked the fact that they have a little dog that was kind of a resident there that made people happy. So, we liked the fact that it wasn't like white-glove.

We saw the memory care section of Rocky Hollow Lake House. It's very nice and very clean. I was impressed with it. It seemed very comfortable. One thing I noticed is that there wasn't any smell. A lot of times, when you walk in those types of facilities, you get the whiff of urine or whatever. This place smelt really good and looked clean. The person who assisted me was very sweet, very nice, and seemed very knowledgeable about the care of people with memory issues. I didn't try the food but I checked the dining area and it looked clean and nice. I remember seeing a TV area and an outside area too.

Rocky Hollow Lake House seemed more designed for nursing home level and not assisted living level. I would probably say they probably function more towards the memory care than the assisted living part. We definitely didn't feel comfortable with that one. We found like the rooms weren't locked, so it didn't feel like an apartment, and it felt more like a bedroom. The staff was telling us that it had the biggest living area, but we'd seen a whole lot bigger. The room was like a bedroom with a little bit of a seating area. It was nothing like we have seen, so it didn't serve our needs at all. The staff who gave us a tour was very nice. We just overheard his staff talking, and I wouldn't have left my grandmother there if that was the only place around. It wasn't geared to somebody who has been independently living and now going into assisted living. Neither one of us found that to be comforting to hear the staff talking to the patients. The place was clean; it definitely smelled like a nursing home. The décor was less appealing. I really would not have tagged them as an assisted living. They really need to keep their memory care living. It should not be tagged as assisted living. It looked like patients were there for memory care, and my grandmother was going for interaction with other people, and it didn't look like that was going to be a place that was going to provide that for her.

Rocky Hollow Lake House was way low on my list. I was not pleased with anything I saw there. It felt like they're significantly overcharging for what they were offering. For a facility that was that small and poorly designed, it should have been much, much cheaper. Their movie theater had wooden seats in it for people in their 90s to sit on. I wouldn't even let anybody go in there like it's begging for bedsores and that kind of thing to develop from sitting on that. It was straight wood. The staff was administrative and didn't know much about health concerns or that kind of thing even though she was the only person on site for the facility. That was troubling to me. The rooms were very small and not very nice looking. It just had that depressing feel of a retirement home. It's the exact opposite of what you want to be living in. The staff was helpful enough, but they should have better-equipped staff onsite for what they're offering.

I toured Rocky Hollow Lake House and saw their assisted living. After we scheduled the visit, I got a call (or an email or maybe it was a text) from them. I don't know if it was the owner or the administrator. He reached out to me right away and confirmed the appointment. We kept in contact after that until the day I came to the facility. I think we spoke or contacted each other a couple of times and just to confirm the appointment. He was ready for me when I got there. He was waiting for me. He was very friendly and very open. The facility itself was very homey. When we walked in, they were fixing the meal. They were having pizza that day, and it smelled wonderful. I would have loved it. The room was furnished very nicely, and you could see the garden outside the window. It was just a really pleasant experience. It was also spacious. The bathroom was so clean, bright, open, and very accessible. Everything was just perfect. They were quick to let me know that they were flexible, or they could help in making changes if we need changes. They were getting ready to eat when I arrived. There were a couple of puppies running around. I think the puppies belonged to the clients, which I thought was great they would allow that. It was very homey. I spoke to several of the clients and just enjoyed being there. The place smelled wonderful. Once a week, they try to have music. Someone comes regularly and plays music in the back for the clients. It's just very nice with a home-like atmosphere. I saw the tables in the dining room. I think it was more like a dining room style, the way it looked. Several clients moved up to the tables, and I think they were getting ready to serve them. The place is a little bit crowded in the entranceway. I know they're doing some construction and adding some rooms. I believe it is a bit small.

I was so impressed with the young man, Faez, who showed me around Rocky Hollow Lake House. I believe he's the owner, and he told me a little bit about the history of it all. I was just very impressed with him and his facility. I was impressed with such a young person to have such a great understanding of the needs of the elderly (particularly with memory care) and taking from his experience with his grandmother. Their dining area was very nice and well set up. I know that they cater to family type meals, and I just think that's really nice for the memory care unit. The rooms were also very well arranged, well set up, and looked cheerful. From what I saw, they all had an open window to look out. The gardens were very nice.

The person I talked to at Rocky Hollow Lake House was very nice. I think she may be the manager or director; she was very good about explaining what they do. Their facilities are older, but the rooms are large. Part of their facilities was damaged by the ice storm in February. At the time I was there the main room was closed, and I don't know if they were able to get that open; that was one concern I had. I did not call back after two weeks to find out if they got it fixed. Also the area out back where they walk, it's very hilly with the sidewalks which would make it difficult for my aunt to walk. She would have to be put in a wheelchair and wheeled out there. The workers were friendly though, and they had a dog and a cat that they adopted, which really would have been great for my aunt because she misses her dog very much. She would have enjoyed that and I think they would have taken care of her, but it is a little bit further from my house. It was a smaller and older facility, but overall, it was well taken care of.

The director at Rocky Hollow Lake House was very friendly and very thorough in her explanation of the care that they offer for the residents. The manager was also very friendly. They gave me a tour of the two rooms that were available. They were large, and they both had two large windows. It's on County Road 245, so it's not real busy. It does have some traffic, but it is a very country area, so that's nice. They have a nice front porch and nice back porch. The main room when you go in (being assisted living) has the door going out the front locked and coded. The door that goes out back is open, so the residents can freely go in and out because of the fenced-in area in the back. They have a nice sidewalk that goes through the area there in the back, but it's downhill. It has a lot of elevation in it, so someone that has difficulty walking would have a hard time walking there. If they were in a wheelchair and someone wheeled them around, it would be nice to go out there. There was a dog and a cat there, which is a positive for my aunt because she loves animals. The facility was damaged during the ice storm in February. The big main room they have is closed off, although the director took me to see it from the outside, and they are working on the damage. The main commercial kitchen is in another building and they bring the food over. They have a small kitchen area and dining area where they eat. They have activities there as well. They have sensors on their beds, and they're working on having sensors in their room. If there's excessive activity in their bed, one of the workers can go and check on them. It was a pleasant dinging sound. It wasn't anything scary, and it's just heard in the hallways. The staff said that they escort the residents to the meals. She said they really help them a lot with that and engage them in coming down to the halls to eat. The doctor that they have is the same doctor that my aunt currently has. They have podiatrists that come and a beautician. The facilities right now are not totally opened, and it is a little bit older facility compared to some of the others.

I visited Rocky Hollow Lake House. I thought it was quite nice, the grounds were very nice, it's very out there, secluded, and it was pretty good. I was impressed with it, and the rooms were larger. There were people doing crafts, but I didn't think my father would participate in that. It's very upbeat, it seemed like the people really care about the elderly. They're very accommodating, everyone was very nice, and it was very clean.

My husband was at Rocky Hollow Lake House. His care had been just fine. I was satisfied with everything. It seemed to be an older house but everything was well-taken care of. Everybody can improve and we can all do better at our jobs, but the most important thing to me is the attitude of the people there who were caring for him. It had all been very positive. My husband was pleased with the food, too. He was certainly happy with it. I had watched them do some activities and I thought they were doing great. The staff seemed to be well trained. Activities were very good there. My husband participated in everything, which I was happy about. They didn't allow them to just go sit in their rooms. Everybody seemed busy and involved; I really like that about this community.

I didn't like Rocky Hollow Lake House. It seemed like it was poorly run and cluttered. It's somewhere I wouldn't put my wife into. It seemed old-fashioned and outdated.

I found Rocky Hollow Lake House for my husband. It was the one I liked best. It had brand-new sections and rooms that nobody has been in before him. They have a beautiful courtyard. The staff has done very well so far, and I'm impressed with the care he's getting.

We had to go with a memory care facility because our mother has dementia issues. We know the owners of The Lodge at Rocky Hollow, so there is a lot of trust and integrity. It is a smaller facility, so there’s a lot more one-on-one attention for the only 23 residents that live there. They have very good people skills and are excellent with inter-relational skills with our mother. There are very conscientious folks that work there. Mother has excellent care around the clock, and that’s very important to us. The pricing is really important, too, so that we can manage her finances effectively every month. It’s just the whole package and three minutes from my home, so it is convenient, too. The place is very clean and very highly secure because a lot of these folks have memory issues either with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Everything they do is based on that. They have two experienced and trained chefs who prepare three very healthy and well-balanced meals a day, and then they also do snacks a couple of times a day. Everything is portion controlled and extremely well-balanced, which is important for our mother’s health since she’s diabetic. The healthcare professionals that are there are wonderful. They have an in-house doctor that comes to Mother and she doesn’t have to leave the faciliy, which is a huge deal for my sister and I because we work full-time, and it is very hard to go and take her and pick her up. Everything is done in-house, which makes it very, very easy.

The Lodge at Rocky Hollow is family owned. It is small, and there are only 16 residents. The staff is 2:1, which is really very good. It's immaculate. It's friendly. They've got a large area for walking, and if anybody likes looking out the window and looking at beautiful Texas scenery, they have that available without having any harm in it. It is very homey, and my sister-in-law's mother was there for two years. The director is very loving and very caring as is the staff. They're experienced with Alzheimer's, and it's strictly Alzheimer's care. As far as requirements for having the aides, they need to be Alzheimer's certified.

The Lodge at Rocky Hollow is excellent. It is clean, and it has good service. They are taking good care of our sister. The outside area is beautiful. The rooms are nice. She has a little kitchen. It couldn't be better. They have activities like crafts. They have an activities director. They provide them with their meals. They help them clean their rooms. They have a little sitting area where they can go and sit. They have an outside area where they can stroll and walk. They have a little movie theater inside that is really nice if they want to go watch movies.

My dad has been a resident at The Lodge at Rocky Hollow for almost four years. It was difficult for me to have to place him in a residential situation, but from the very beginning we were treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. It is a bright and cheerful place and I believe my Dad is getting the best care available. We are both treated like family and I have never regretted choosing The Lodge at Rocky Hollow.

I have a client of mine moved from one place to another. After he was moved here I was so happy to meet the staff and see the full time caregiver/med aide living here also. The staff and other residents are so compassionate to give him space and realize he needs time to adjust. Brandon cooks all the meals, does all the laundry, cleans all the time, and Fabion is there to help in grocery/pharmacy shopping and he also helps Brandon when needed. These guys are the best and the reisidents love them being there. Its a home, and feels so comfortable. I also met the nice wonderful lady and her husband who run the homes and very pleased to know them. I am so happy as so is his wife and others. I only hope more smaller homes for the elderly will be runned by these who know what their doing.

The Lodges feels like home and the staff is friendly and attentive. The home is very clean and well maintained. Mom loves the activities that are planned and especially loves the musical entertainment that they have each month. She is always front and center with whatever is going on. I feel comfortable that she is happy, content and safe. I would highly recommend the Lodges to anyone who finds themselves in search of a facility for their loved one.

Its a small home about 10 minutes from Austin or 5 minutes from Cedar Park. Beautiful country home with perfect wood floors, granite and stainless steel kitchen, etc. The staff was so nice. I already looked at 6 other places and this one is at the top of my short list. The downside, since they only have a few beds, I have to decide soon. The owner has a lot of experience and is so caring. This place is very nice, I recommend it.

Other than the fact that The Lodge at Rocky Hollow is in our backyard, I enjoyed the "at home" atmosphere. We are laid back people so it suits our taste all the way. We went during lunch time for a tour and the food looked incredible. The rooms all have private bathrooms which is a big plus. Staff at the time were all hands on with the patients and were very nice to me. I would highly encourage everyone to take a tour at this facility for their family member. The Lodge is in my top picks for when I move my mom.

Thank you for your kind words. We can truly say we are a family taking care of families. Placing a family member with a memory disorder may be the hardest decision you ever have to make. Come see how our family can make a difference.

The Lodge at Rocky Hollow was my husband's favorite because he grew up on a ranch, and this is 10 acres out in the country. I didn't meet a lot of people while we were there. My husband liked it better than I did because I thought the rooms were not as nice. The staff seemed to be all right. The director or the owner was very nice, and it had been in the same family, I think she said for 20 years. So the facility wasn't as new as the others, but it was well maintained. They had some activities, including computer activities and computer games. I would recommend it to somebody who wanted to be out in the country.
