We chose Walnut Place for our loved ones. The general manager was good, and that was the main thing. They supplied a microwave and a small refrigerator in the apartments. The staff who gave the tour was awesome. It's an old building but it's clean.

Mom was at Walnut Place for respite care. In the beginning, as we were getting ready for the care and setting everything up, the employees were helpful and assured me of everything and going over the cost. That part was good. As far as the stay there, I wasn't too happy. Some of mom's things came up missing. Then I called them two hours before and let them know what time I would be picking her up and when I got there, she wasn't ready. I had to pick a suitcase and she had feces all in her hand. She was wet and I couldn't find anybody to help me clean her up or get her prepared to leave. It took over 30 minutes for someone to come and help me. I called and left the staff a voicemail, and he called me back, took my report, apologized for what happened, and said he was going to look for some clothes that I'd sent. They were brand new with the tag still on. No one ever called me back. Mom's room was nice and clean. The bed was kind of lumpy. The mattress was old but overall it was clean and very roomy. I observed a lady who was in a wheelchair with food all over her. She had been sitting there the whole 30 minutes and no one was paying her attention. She had food all over her and all over the floor. Looked like she couldn't do anything for herself and I didn't like that. They just had the normal stuff. They had a nurse station and one time when everyone was eating, there were a lot of residents out at the tables eating. The dining area was nice and typical. The staff was good at making the place look good, but I think it was too expensive for what I got. I think they should always get back to the customer once they file a complaint. Just leaving it lying on the table with no resolution to it is bad for business. I paid $1000 dollars and it just made me feel like they wanted my money and kept my mom just to keep her. She was there and that was it.

I liked the friendliness of the staff at Walnut Place. I met with Svetlana and she's super sweet. She gave me a tour. We spent quite a bit of time together and just kind of talked about my mom. I loved that she asked me personal questions about my mom, like what kind of person she is and what she did before she had to go into memory care. Just kind of wanting to know who my mom was as a person and not just another patient with dementia, and that made me feel comfortable. The layout of the building was really nice. What I liked about it is that it's kind of an all inclusive care. The memory care was on the fifth floor and then they also do X-ray, labs, and they have a physician on site that comes in and visits the residents. If my mom was to require rehab, they have a rehab facility on the third floor, so it's like everything is all there. She wouldn't have to go to a different location if anything happens, and I really like that. I did not have a meal there, but the residents were eating dinner when I showed up and the food was really good. They said that they have a chef downstairs in the kitchen who prepares all the meals. I thought it was good and they were having chicken and waffles. We visited the atrium, which is like downstairs on the very bottom. That's where they take the residents out at least once a week, especially the memory care residents, they have to be with an assistant. They go out there and they kind of sit, just enjoy the view, get some fresh air, and get out of the space where they were in. It was a really beautiful location. It's one place that I really liked for my mom. It looks very secure. When you get off the elevator, the elevator locks, so there's a keypad. For those in memory care it would be beneficial for them so they're not wandering off the floor. The rooms were nice and big. The staff seemed really great.

Though Walnut Place did not care for my uncle for very long, I felt that they took the best care for him with the time that they had. They received him from is prior assisted living place, helped him through the transition, and cared for him as he passed. Special thanks to Katrece for her amazing help and support.

My mom was a patient here for 2 weeks for rehab after a hospital stay. Although there were some caring, competent staff, it was inconsistent with a lot of turnover of people. Mom thought the food was pretty good, but things were very disorganized. Then, my mom was suddenly discharged on a Sunday afternoon with no notice, no phone call, no transportation. It was incredibly unkind and unprofessional. I hope they do better for other patients and residents in the future. No one deserves that kind of treatment.

My Brother-in-law was transferred to Walnut Place with Hospice coverage for MSA. Unfortunately his stay was less than two weeks. Since we do not live in Dallas we relied on Walnut Place staff to make this transition seamless and they did a wonderful job.

I toured Walnut Place, and I really liked it. I liked the atmosphere of the place. I liked the larger room, but it's kind of pricey. I met Svetlana and she was really helpful and answered a lot of questions for me. The smaller room was just like a bedroom. I think my mom would like to have the larger room because of the sitting area. I liked that the dining area was near the rooms, so she didn't have to go to another floor. It looked more like a restaurant. They had a courtyard and a rehabilitation area. I saw some of the residents there doing puzzles and watching television together.

We visited Walnut Place, I liked it very well and I liked the size of the apartments. I liked how they had a dining room on each floor, so if they live on the sixth floor, they don't have to go down to the first floor for food, especially if they have mobility issues. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the residents were very friendly. They had a very nice open-air courtyard in the center of the building, and the apartments go all the way around it. They had an exercise room and movie rooms pretty much on every floor. They also had an activities director that was very involved and sounded like he was really into having fun with the residents. There's an atrium that's partly covered, with the rest of it covered in netting. It's open-air but some places are covered so you can sit, and there's a water fountain and lots of plants and trees and things. It's nice. I'm not sure what her title is, but Samantha, was very helpful, friendly, and informative. She took a lot of time showing us around. She was very nice.

My mom is at Walnut Place. I have a very good experience with them. The people there are caring. The facility is clean. They have every level, from rehab to assisted living and memory care. My mom is in rehab now, and her room is fine with her own bathroom. Everything looks good. She has other people she can meet and talk to in the rooms. They have a cafe down in the basement. They have food on each floor that they can bring to their rooms. It's just very pleasant.

This was the worst place ever. They lied, belittled and were just flat out rude. My brother stayed there for 14 days and got a shower twice, we almost had to beg for them to get him showered and have his bed linens changed. The nurses we had were not accommodating at all. The stayed on there phones and never checked on him unless he reached out to them. I would not recommend this place at all. They had comforters from the '70's that were nasty. The pictures shown are not what are in the rooms. No one told us we had to bring everything, snacks and drinks, the ice maker was broken, they had an ice chest that everyone had access to, not very sanitizing. He couldn't leave his room for 10 days which we weren't told about so he pretty much spent a lot of time alone. We when got there we had no idea what to do as no one greeted us, we were given a room number and had to go get the nurse to see what all we needed to do. He never saw the same doctor twice. The head floor nurse came and told him she would make sure everything would be ok and she would make sure that his needs would be met. We never saw her again and the only time we texted was because I demand that she get someone to give him a shower.

My Mother was in the skilled nursing care portion of the facility. At first, the quality of care was good.As time passed however, we found the staff indifferent, un attentive and sometimes rude.Upon discharge, my Mother was supposed to have some medical equipment delivered to her home the day of discharge. Five days later ,I was told they couldn't affirm delivery due to an error, ( they were calling a phone number that had been disconnected 8 years ago). I purchased the medical equipment myself and lost out on reimbursement from insurance as a result. Walnut Place apologized but did not take any responsibility for their error. They made no attempt to reach out to me and I had to contact them to ask the whereabouts of the equipment they assured me ,"was handled by them ". I do not recommend Walnut Place

I really like Walnut Place. It was actually my first choice, but based on my uncle's evaluation, they referred me to another facility. I like the value and the space. I like the staff, too. It was a very solid place. It was very clean and the rooms were big. I felt very good about having him live there.

Walnut Place was a great facility that I toured when I was looking for a place for my dad. While we ultimately did not choose it (he wanted to go where his friends were), but it was my top choice for him. The medical amenities they offer are more than enough to keep my dad safe and cared for throughout his life. The community was quiet with a warm and caring feel. The staff in the assisted living has a long tenure which is what I really liked about walnut place. If I have another family member needing assisted living, I will definitely call them back!

My mom stayed in the rehab section of Walnut Creek and my and family were pleased with the care she received. Everyone there (from top to bottom) took really good care of her. We called my mom daily and she was always upbeat and said how nice everyone treated her. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I understand that there is no perfect institution, that is why I am anxious when my mom is at any medical facility. But it is what I experienced at Walnut Place that made the difference. I have communicated preference to the staff, the staff is able to deliver. Everybody had been responsive to my requests and I must say, I was doubtful at first, but now I am a believer. Each one of us will have different experiences, but as long as their team is willing to work with us, I will trust that they will do good. Best of all, mom was able to leave the facility walking on her own. What more is there to say?

We lived in Walnut Place for quite a while. The facilities were very nice, but the aides were a problem; they aren't paid enough to care about what they're doing. My husband was there for 100 days, and I spent 2 weeks for a different thing. Their physical therapy was wonderful, and the nurses were very good. The food was good when we first went, and it went down because the lady retired, but it improved by the time we left. They had a happy hour, and they had somebody come in and sing.

The Walnut Place which is right across from the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Tx, in my opinion is nice looking on the out side and very pretty with an elegant touch on the inside, including patients rooms. My family an I were happy that our relative could simply leave Presbyterian Hospital and go across the street(convince) for 21days of REHAB, to such a nice looking place and seemingly caring nursing staff. Our family was from out of town, and we had a few that lived in town, so my loved one immediate family, stated in close contact with nursing staff via phone and visiting traveling 90miles back and fourth twice a week, and staying over on the weekends at times in the city of Dallas. My dear loved one had suffered a traumatic surgery, causing my loved one to loose strength, and being unable to move as fast as they normally use to and the Nurses Aides and Nurses(Mostly African Culture/race Staffed minority other culture/races), were very insensitive or empathetic to my loved ones needs. When we visited, we noticed our loved one had on a DIAPER(was not incontinent of bowel and bladder, just needing assistance to go to rest room). Our loved one said they were told to "PEE" in the diaper UPON ARRIVAL and the CNA"s took the call light away because, our loved one simply wanted to get help to the rest room, and they did not take time to assist. We noticed how dirty our loved ones face was, and lips becoming crusty, of course we cleaned our loved one up, but noticed one time that his facial grooming was "wacked" and our loved one did not even look like their-self. I asked my love one what happened, and they said the CNA, just shaved my face and had no consideration of how I wore or liked my facial hair. I ask my love one how did they(Nurses and Aids) treat them, my loved one said you could hardly understand there language, and the workers(Africans mostly) did not care to empathize or consider there communication barrier and did not care to help our african American loved one understand, causing our loved one to feel inferior and intimidated, which our loved on said, they decided to close down, feeling depressed. Our loved one was needing to be turned and the Nurses and the Aides slacked at this so bad. Due to there like of support, our loved one suffered a STAGE 2 BEDSORE(determined once at ER) at the top of the BUTTOX, right before the GLUTEUS MAXIMUS splits, not to mention caught Pneumonia, and, when we asked the Nurse if our loved one finished the treatment for Pneumonia, the Nurse simply said "he had his last pill" and that's it and left the room. Well a week later our loved one stated still not feeling well, though each time we called THE NURS always said, our loved one was doing well and good in therapy. Being concerned we pressured nursing staff to check our loved one and when the finally did, found out our loved one still had PENOMONIA! Well we insisted our family insisted our love one go to ER(Back to Presbyterian), and DOCTORS found out that our loved ones STAGE 2 WOUND, APPEARED being NOT TREATED properly, and also THE sight were the CANCER TUMOR was removed was leaking fluid on the inside of our loved ones body! Not to mention when our loved one was rushed to the ER, for that time until our loved ones release, just several days ago, No Social Worker, Nurse, Clinical Liaison, Walnut Representative contacted our family to follow-up to see how our loved one was doing, but being a Licensed Professional myself, I'm sure some of The Walnut Clinical Staff called the hospital, find out what was going on with our loved one to be sure The Walnut Place, Get there MEDICARE Pay. Our love one was Neglected(physically, emotionally and verbally) by Nurses, CNA"S and Social Workers. Our loved one said how they would push the call light and NO ONE SHOWED UP FOR HOURS, and after a faithful relative would leave, the CNA would take the CALL light away. Not even the physical therapist considered his pain he complained about, but still wanted to take him to therapy when he felt NOT good, not to mention they wrote negative documentation about his work in therapy, which was due to his pain and weakness. I would not recommend anyone to go to The Walnut Place. The Walnut Place IS a respect of persons atmosphere, and a Non Ethical Nursing, and Social Service Staff.

My mother lived at Walnut Place for a year and four months before passing away in April. Her care and attention to her obvious health problems before having to be transferred to the hospital were severely lacking. The wait for a doctor to see her to recommend she be transferred to the hospital took five hours. My mother passed away two days after reaching the hospital. I could have forgiven the slow response, but after she passed, I never heard another word from anyone at Walnut Place. No phone call, no condolences or even a sorry for your loss. It was as if my mom had never even been there. It hurt me so much that I called the administrator to voice my concerns and even after that, I never heard another word from Walnut Place. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones.

Walnut Place is right across from Presbyterian Hospital which makes it convenient. They did have levels of care there from assisted living to Alzheimer's care. It was a huge place. This particular facility I would rate as five-star only because they're so professional. However, I wouldn't choose this place for myself because they had more of an institutional feeling rather than a home-like feeling. I was looking for more of an independent living place where I had no need of help except to have somebody help me prepare meals or take me to trips or whatever. This place is not the one where I would go. However, if I have a family member that has Alzheimer's or dementia or some serious situations like that, then I would certainly recommend Walnut Place. This place is for someone needing medical attention even though it is just assisted living. They did have nursing staff there. I also tried eating there and the food was good. I would recommend this place particularly for people with medical issues.

Walnut Place is nice but very expensive for what it is. I don't believe that my sister receives personal care there. The room that she is in is small. For the fee you're paying, I think that the accommodation would be equivalent to at least like a hotel room. I don't think you're getting your money's worth with what they have. The food is not homemade cooking but it is all right. It is just fine. They have activities there; however, my sister doesn't participate in them and I think she should. I think they can do better by having more staff. That's maybe the reason why my sister is not receiving the care that we're expecting because the staff is limited.

I went on the hunt for the best nursing facility for another one of my clients this time I went Walnut Place and my first impression is that it looked like a mini hospital. Its right by the train station and that seem great for employees to commute.. The front of the facility gives you a warm feeling because of all the warm fall colors that decorate the sitting area. Its a very tall building that has six floor and BEAUTIFUL COURTYARD that some of the residents seem to enjoy.I noticed that each floor nursing staff wore diffrent colors which showed that they were organized, and every employee that I passed gave great customer service.what I did like about the facility was that it was location it is right accross the street from a hospital and it was its lots of dr.offices in the area .The administrator was very deligent in telling me everything about and also so informed me that they have longevity with there employees, they also have a pharmacy in the nursing facility for residents and employees.I really liked this nursing center it was close to everything that was important for my client and her family members.

Walnut Place, in my opinion, is one of the best facilities for elderly care that I have ever visited. The courtyard is very beautiful, the clients are well taken care of, and from what I hear - the food is excellent. The staff provides transportation for their clients, there is a nice church within walking distance, and most rooms even have flat-screen televisions for their clients - which is unheard of for most elderly-care facilities. I would highly recommend Walnut Place to anyone who is looking for elderly care in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Walnut Place offer skilled nursing and rehab, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and respite care. I've visited it a few times and have referred clients there. It's in downtown Dallas in a nice part of town, right across the street from Presbyterian Hospital. It's very convenient. A bus picks up patients from the hospital and admits them directly to rehab. It couldn't be easier. And they do an extremely large amount of rehab business. It's an older facility--probably 30 years old. Although it's an upscale facility, it could use a makeover in some areas, especially since it competes with some very upscale and newer facilities nearby. The rooms are large, though, and pretty nice. Many have been upgraded with flat screen TVs. The staff is extremely nice and professional. The director of nurses, dietician, and a number of other key people have been there a long time. That's unusual and a real plus. When those two departments are good, the quality of care is superior. The food is above average--just below excellent. They tend to use a lot of fresh ingredients. It's not at all institutional. They have a lot of special events, too--big productions. For the holidays, they really go all out, with musical events and special entertainment.
