My dad was at Winchester Lodge Healthcare Center. It was right across the street from my mom's house. It was a brief rehab, post-hospital kind of stay. Everything was really positive. At that time it was pre-COVID, so my mom got to spend a lot of time with him, and do meals with him. My brother and sister got to visit quite a bit just to make sure that he was doing OK. He was recovering from a surgery. In that regard we were very happy with it. It was super convenient for everybody because it was in Alvin, and that's where they all lived. I don't live there, but it's where they all live. They were more appreciative because they could bring him out of the hospital and bring him closer to home until he got a little bit better and a little bit stronger. The physician came and rounded there regularly with a nurse practitioner, and that gave them a higher level of confidence that they will catch something early if anything was not going right. My dad seemed happy there. He liked that everybody could visit him and stay with him, but he stayed there pre-COVID, so there weren't restrictions. They liked the food, it was more like a cafeteria style kind of food, but it was good. He was eating, so he was doing good. The facility probably does not give off the best impression, but I think it was an older facility that was formerly something else. I think it has been around for 40 or 50 years. It has only been a nursing home for a while. It does not give you the best impression, but they keep it fine. It just looked dated, but it was clean. It probably was what you would expect for an older nursing home. That was maybe the only thing that was a little off-putting, because you are thinking, "Are they in this decade?" But everything else was good. They maintained it, but your initial impression would be that it is just a little dated. My dad was assigned to do speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy at that time for all his conditions combined. It was not just the surgery, but they evaluated him overall. I think there were other therapies available while he was there, so that was good.

My brother was recently discharged from Rehab at this facility after being transferred from a local hospital. At the time of discharge none of the equipment/supplies, meds he would need at home had been ordered. A week after discharge I realized none of the hospital ordered prescriptions had been administered to him during his month stay.

What a nightmare for my 88 year old mother and our family. Candice shouldn’t be allowed to be an administrator at this or any other nursing facility. She refused to return my phone calls, I was not notified that my mother was moved to another facility for mental health issues, in the evenings the phone would ring 30 times before someone would answer or not answered. Most of my mother’s belongings disappeared during her 45 day stay at Winchester. On June 4 I picked up my mothers belongings and there were two live cock roaches in her belongings.Need I say more.

I visited Winchester. I only met a few people, and they were all very friendly and nice. The rooms looked decent and clean. They were small, but not as small as some places. They did show us the menu, and it looked fine. The dining room was very nice.
