I toured Covenant Place. I went there quite frequently volunteering my time also. It was a joyful place to be. Unfortunately my dad just couldn't afford that place, and it was very out of our price range. The people were very friendly for a facility as large as it is. The staff do not look overworked, and compared to what I've seen in other places, the staff there was just very friendly. It always looked like there were more staff than residents, and it was just a very relaxed atmosphere because of that. The rooms were set up and arranged in a way where it felt comfortable, you felt like you could get in and out, everything just kind of flowed, and it was easy for the residents to get to where they were going, it didn't seem like a maze. It was just easy access for everyone to get in and out. It was very clean, and very well organized. If I had the money that definitely would have been the ideal place.

My sister had to be in re-hab last days of June until I removed her in 10 days. The nurses, rehab therapists and housekeeping seemed o.k. I have two complaints against Covenant Place....No 1.... my sister was checked in Wearing a nice outfit purchased for her to wear from the Hospital to Covenant Place and she had on the same outfit on the 5th day. I mentioned this to the very nice Activities Director and she had them change her as I waited in the lobby. She was and is incontinent and was not changed from the time she got up until she was put to bed.. I was in and out and found my sister not attended to many times. If they are understaffed...what a shame to say that.....every time I was there CNA's were leaning on the hall walls talking and laughing. ....One who boasted of having been there 21 years was sassy and non caring unless someone was watching her...then she turned on her fake charm....my second complaint is....I paid 750.00 for my sister to have a private room....two days in a private room....even less care. So I moved her to another Rehab Center....only stayed 2 days and hav been unable to get my refund if 515.00. They keep sending me (I am my sisters POA) a BILL for 515.00. Upon calling them 7 times they said they were waiting until her insurances paid. 3 weeks ago I got copies of both my sisters Insurance pay outs and Covenant had been paid.....they have still not refunded my sisters money! In speaking to my attorney about my sisters care and her deposit I was told there was only ONE re-hab in Sumter he would ever recommend.....passing strange IT WAS NOT COVENANT PLACE! It is not a place I would ever take any of my loved ones to ever again. Still waiting for my sisters refund....after two months....do they really need my sisters little bit of money that bad?? Sad Sad Sad PS. The only way I can submit my review is to give Covenant Place a STAR...other than wanting to submit....reluctantly giving the one star....which they do not deserve.....

Covenant Place of Sumter looked like a pretty good, nicely kept facility with plenty of room and activities. I liked it. They had really good food, and the dining area was very pretty.

Between my two parents we have had 3 visits to the nursing & rehab facility in the last 2 years. The physical and occupational therapists are wonderful. The nursing staff are very good. Like any job you have a few bad apples here it is the CNA's that do their job below what is exceptable. 90 % of them are very good but in this job there should be zero tolerance for those who are not compassionate for those they care for and are dependent on them. Employees are always talking about being under staffed and u can see it. So just like any other place make sure u are visiting and making sure your family or friends are getting the care they deserve and that u expect.

My Mom was a resident at CP for about 7 months. They applied a fentanyl narcotics pain patch which was prescribed for another patient. This was a Class 1 Medical Error and resulted in a 2 week hospital visit for my Mom. CP did not report this serious incident to the SC DHEC authorities as they should have. You can get aa copy of the inspection results from the SC FOIA office.

My mother never wanted to go to a "nursing home". That was her biggest fear. After a stoke, broken hip and subsequent strokes, I had no choice but to put her in assisted Living. We spoke to several centers and chose Covenant Place because it was close to where the family home is and also they have an in-facility rehab. Covenant wasn't the least expensive, but you cannot put a price on your parents care. After doing some long soul searching, we chose Covenant. No one really wants to leave their home and go into assistant living. It took my mother around a year to settle in. Her health is so much better than it would be if she had stayed in the home. She would have had to have home sitters that she didn't know and we tried that before and it really didn't work. I could go on and on, but please call Covenant Place and talk to them if you have a loved one in this situation. They have changed my Moms life. The Directors, care givers, activity staff, nurses are top notch and my mom has made so many new friends. Just last night, she attended an Art show at the center, with many of her old friends she has not seen in a long while. She has so much more activity than she has had in years. I just can't say enough! Thank you, Covenant Place for helping my mother start a new life with dignity!

Covenant Place is a big place. I only have good things to say about it. The staff there is wonderful. My parents were in independent-living, and now my father is down at skilled nursing. The food is wonderful; they have 3 choices for dinner, and it’s decorated very nice. They have plenty of activities for the residents. The apartments are very well kept up and maintained. It is expensive, but they have physical therapists there on site, so if you come home from the hospital and you have to go to rehab, you can do it there.

I am currently at Covenant Place. Everything is excellent, and I don't have one complaint. The cleanliness is above average. They did a lot of upgrading. It feels like a home. I have an apartment. It is really light and cheerful with hardwood floors, and it is quite large. I don't think the staff could be any better. They are very pleasant, and they do a good job. They are very helpful. The food is wonderful. It is a balanced meal with a wide variety, and it is very nutritious. They have a restaurant type dining facility, and it is quite large enough to accommodate everybody. They have a variety of activities, and there's always something going on. They have exercise every morning. They have a therapist and exercise equipment.

My mom is eighty-four and is in Covenant Place in Sumter, SC. She's been living for two years. Everything's fine. They have lunch every day and Bingo. The best thing about them is the cost and the lack of down payment, they treated it like an apartment. They have some very nice people. There are a lot of residents. I like it and I wouldn't mind living there.
