There was nothing I disliked about Life Care Center of Charleston. It was fine. It was exactly what it was supposed to be. The rehab was good. They took care of my mother. She went basically from rehab to long-term hospice. She only stayed there a week and everything was exactly what it was supposed to be. They were very attentive. They did what they were supposed to do. She was in a double occupancy when she was in rehab and her roommate seemed to be eating her food, and my mom would eat hers when she was hungry, but a lot of times, she wasn't because she was going through the process. They offered rehab equipment. It looks like they have buses to take people out if they want to go out to shop and stuff like that or do some sort of activities. They had an area where they did rehab, but I didn't see anything else. You get what you pay for. Compared to the going rate in the area, it's about the average for the going rate for long-term care. It was good. It was very convenient. A hospital was a block away, so if there was any emergency that needed to be taken care of, they were there in no time. The location was great. There are restaurants and stuff around there.

I liked Life Care Center of Charleston. It was just a very nice, clean, and modern facility. The rooms were shared, but it wasn't really big and you had to walk to get to the bathroom which was an issue. The dining room looked nice. They had a craft room and they also had a little room to get ice cream. The people were very nice. There was a beautiful shaded front porch where you could go out and sit on nice furniture. I had the admissions guy give me a walk through and he was the one I met. The staff was all working, so everybody was busy.

My husband was in this facility in July 2022 for rehab after partial hip replacement. He was transferred to this facility from MUSC, we were assured that he would be taken well care of. He is a severe heart patient and must have heart failure meds 2 times a day as well as other meds. He went 18 hrs without any meds, when I questioned the staff, I kept being told they were on order. He is also a diabetic and was not given that medication. The food was not diabetic appropriate as he was given fried foods, lots of carbs, and deserts. We were told he would have a recliner in his room as he could not lay flat due to broken ribs, Not one available. When he called at night for help to get up to go to bathroom No one came, he had to maneuver on his own. His two things he had to be able to do to come home was to walk upstairs, PT was great with that! It was the family that would walk with my husband, due to his determination he insisted we walk with him so he could get his strength back. He also needed to be able to shower, he was there I believe 8 days only received 1 shower! I bathed him the best I could. I might add here he had 2 washcloths the whole time he was there, when I asked about that I was told they did not have any clean ones, I brought my own. On many occasions I asked to speak to director, and she never came to speak to us until the morning we left. I would never recommend this facility to anyone!

My mom has moved into Life Care Center of Charleston, and it's been pretty good. We've had our ups and downs. There's a staffing shortage and that kind of thing, but the people that are there have been great. They do therapy every day and they keep her moving, which was really important. She really liked the food, which is very important to her. The cleanliness is pretty good. I would keep it cleaner, but it's very clean. I mean, her room is cleaned every day, and they do what they can do. They keep it up as best they can. It's double occupancy, there was no choice in whether you had to have a roommate or not. There's a couple of private rooms, but we were not offered that. She's had a roommate twice. The rooms are fine, there's plenty of room there. The outdoors are great. They have a patio, and they have sidewalks where you can push the wheelchair. It's very nice outside. Most of the staff are pretty considerate and kind. Of course, you always got the few cranky ones. The biggest problem that I've had there is that they don't communicate with you very well. I have to always ask questions, like I didn't know there was a refrigerator to put her stuff in for a week because nobody told me. I didn't know that her doctors' appointments they took care of, and they were telling me what time they were, and I was trying to do the same things. If somebody would have told me that, I would have not worried about it. The food is good. She has been in a couple of rehabs and assisted livings, back before she moved with us. She hated the food, that's the only thing she complained about. She has not complained about the food here once, she says it's good. The insurance is paying for it, but I would say out of the three that I went and visited, it's still probably the best one that I could find.

Personally I would not recommend this facility if your family member needs physical or occupational therapy because it is almost non exsistant. The nurses and the CNAs were wonderful and very caring. Unfortunately we were told she would get a shower twice a week and that never happened. She was there for 9 days before she got her first shower.

Bad experience having my mother there last year. I will never forgive myself for leaving her in the rehab here. Although I could not go in to see her, she was brought to a doctor appt. dirty. Also the 2 trips to the ER because of accidents she was not clean. I don't feel that she was being supervised enough for her condition nor was she washed and changed properly.

My aunt Ernestine of Huger SC received excelkent care during her stay at Life Care. The staff does a magnificent job daily with the patients at Life Care Center. Hats off, high five and many blessings to you all. My aunt had a peaceful transition to her father up in Heaven. Again the family of Ernestine commend you all. May God bless and keep watch over you all and your patients. We love you all. Inez Broughton

Care With Love is the only place that my mother-in-law has ever been to. It is a very small environment and more family like. They cook up a meal and it's like a home-made meal. They don't have a whole lot of activities there. The best thing about this place is their staff.

The receptionist and nurse staff were nice. They greeted us at the door. We were able to see a lounge area for family and residents off the entryway. We were able to see the cafe and the patients' rooms. Each room has their own personal bathroom so the residents don't have to leave their room if they don't want to leave. I liked that this facility is located near a hospital. I thought that was awesome because I know that my father would be able to see the doctor whenever he has an appointment. He loves to walk around and the doctor's office is a short 10 minute walk. They also provide a shuttle for the resident to get to and from their appointment. The building and the grounds are well kept. There are nice seating areas around the grounds which is awesome because it is a smoke free campus. I love the fact that my father won't have to worry about smokers during his afternoon walk. I thought it was interesting that they have 24 hour maintenance on staff.
