My father is a resident of The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach. He likes it there. It's an older facility, so some things could be updated. It's small, so the memory care unit part is also small. They also seem to have a little bit of a turnover. I wish some of the staff would stay a little bit longer, but they come and go. It has been a couple of years so I guess that's not out of the norm. He has good days and bad days, so he gives them a hard time some days, but he always gets good treatment, and they seem to be able to calm him down. He thinks he owns the place -- dementia will do that to you -- and they just go along with it. Some days he "fires" the whole staff, and some days he tells me to write a check for more money for them. They are very good with him so the only thing that I would like to see is more staff staying. My father doesn't really like a lot of changes, so with people coming and going he wonders where they went. He is in a private room, and it's not very big, but he has an armoire that he uses as a closet for his clothes. He has his own bathroom, too. Right now he has a hospital bed, but he also has a recliner, a rocking chair, and a dresser or a nightstand. It's enough room for him. He also has a window that faces the highway where he enjoys sitting and watching the cars go up and down. They took a little bus trip this past week, I think they went to the Olive Garden for lunch. He gets to go on little luncheons too. Yesterday they had a salad and spaghetti dinner and they tried to get the people involved in it. It's hard to do that in memory care, especially with my dad who is also legally blind. It's hard to come up with this kind of activity for him, but they try to keep him involved. They even help him play bingo and do different activities with the other residents, so he really seems to enjoy it there.

The staff from The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach was excellent. Everything was clean and everything was in place. They were excellent. However, we chose the other place simply because we will save $500 a month with them.

My mom recently moved to The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach, and it has been an excellent choice for her. The people there have been very kind. When we bought new furniture, they helped us put it together and organize everything. They assisted her with her medication, ensuring she receives it on time. The staff has been fabulous; even the head nurse gave us her number in case we had any questions. Mom has a living room, a one-bedroom with a bathroom, and a small kitchenette. Each room has its own air conditioning unit. Mom mentioned that the food is good, and there are plenty of activities for her to enjoy.

We took my mom over to The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach, and she likes it. As far as the meals they have, it's great. You have a couple of choices for lunch and dinner, and then they also have a menu that they have every day. So if you don't feel like having any of the set menu items, you could choose from soup, sandwich, and salad. So my mom likes that a lot. Breakfast is just breakfast. It's pretty much eggs, toast, cereal, and things like that. They have a beauty shop. They have a lot of activities. One thing that my mother is looking forward to and really like is the fact that you could go out to a certain section outside and do some gardening. They have some tables set up so that you can put some plants into pots, and she likes that. The apartments are nice. They have a two-bedroom. It's a split floor plan with two bedrooms on either side, but one bathroom, and then you share a living room. But my mother is very private, so that wasn't an option. Then they have a studio, which is about 11 by 14 not including the bathroom, and that's the one she has signed up for because it was the cheapest of everything with the exception of living with someone else. Then you could have a one-bedroom, which is a private room. It has a nice-sized living room, a wet bar, a separate bedroom, a separate bathroom, and a closet. The one my mother is going into doesn't have a closet, but they have an armoire that they'll bring in and that would count as a closet. The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach has recently been remodeled. It's very nice inside and very welcoming. We were impressed. It's small. It's just one floor, but it seems like a good fit for my mom. They're very accommodating. When my mom was with me, they were talking to her, asking her questions like what she likes and what she doesn't like. They were very knowledgeable, and they made you feel very welcome.

We liked the facilities at The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach and we liked the price. They had a variety of rooms. There was one bedroom, a studio deluxe, and a studio. The monthly fee included 3 meals a day, housekeeping, activities, transportation to medical appointments, weekly linen and personal laundry, 24-hour call nurse available, physical therapy, and all utilities were included except the telephone. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very nice. They had a courtyard, but no pool.

We went to tour The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach. It looked very clean. A gentleman took us around. The residents knew him, and he knew their names. It just looked like a nice place. The gentleman that took us on the tour was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information. The facility was very nice. The hospital is a short hop down the road, and there are all kinds of restaurants everywhere.

The Legacy of North Myrtle Beach was previously owned by another group. The staff they have are just some of the sweetest, kindest, and most concerned people that I know. They are very patient with my mom and very understanding. They all love her and they all talk about her. I'm there every day, so they all know me and anything I ask of them, they are perfectly willing to do. Sometimes they have some staffing issues. I think they've tried to hire new staff because of the changeover, but they still got a few places that they're short-staffed. Every once in a while, I will notice that there is a little bit of a lag time from the time I ask for something to when it gets done, but for the most part, they're right on top of things. They do whatever you ask and they always do it with a smile. They're very gracious. So, I have been very pleased with her care. The food is very good and they have a new chef that they have just recently acquired. They're trying to kind of spice things up a little bit. They have an activities director, too, and just this month, they've decorated some pumpkins and have them set out on display. They have now started working on wreaths for the holiday season, and just last month, they went on a fishing trip down to a local pier, not too far away, and went to an outdoor picnic. They have other activities such as exercising, wine/lemonade and snacks nights, a football-themed lunch where they have sack lunches and they all watch the football game on the big screen TV, and crafts every day. So, they have a wide range of activities.

I’ve been here. They have single bedrooms and shared apartments. It looked clean to me; the staff was fine.

It was a little older, but it was nice. But, for me, it was little farther out, so I would prefer something closer to where I live. When we were there, they were getting ready to have a Valentine's Party, and it was very nice. They had a DJ, and it was very interesting.
