My mom is now at Eastgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She is there for long-term care. She has been there for a little bit now. The people are very friendly and very caring. They treat the patients with respect. It's super-duper clean, and it's convenient for me. She was in rehab for two weeks and then she was moved to the other side for long-term care just this past week, so we're still feeling out the activities. They have a nice calendar that they put up for all the residents and patients for the activities that they offer. There are prayer services, bingo, and different craft activities. They try to get the patients involved. My mom's not one that would do it, but others would. It just seems like it's well rounded. It's not a place that stands out. When you first drive up, you think you're just driving up to a residence. It's a three-story Victorian. It's a little bit old, it's aged, and also we live in an older part of the country. But as soon as you get beyond that original entrance, it's like boom, it opens up into a very modern place. It is an older facility, and it seems independently owned. From what I've seen, the activities are good, but my mom hasn't really participated. She is not an outgoing type person, so it takes a little bit of coaxing to get her to participate. I've been with her while she's eating, and the food looks and smells good. I'm a picky eater; I would eat it. She's a Medicaid patient, so I don't know what the fee is. I know what they charge per day to a private pay individual, and I think it's costly.
