We are on the waitlist at The Highlands at Wyomissing. We have to wait until they have the apartment that we're interested in. It was beautiful, well cared for, and clean. We have a friend who lives there, and he's very happy. The person who toured us was great. She took us around to a couple of apartments. She gave us all the information. They're building a new building. She gave us the information about that and answered all our questions. We've eaten there twice. We ate there once in the dining room with our friend, and then we ate in the luncheonette another time with him, and they were both very good. I think they have a fair number of activities. They have a swimming pool and a gym. My friend has gone to a few things, like a Fourth of July party, and he went into some kind of a musical program, too.

We've been to The Highlands at Wyomissing numerous times, but we just felt that's out of our budget for the kind of housing we want. It's a beautiful facility. They have everything, good location. The apartments were very nice. They have a lot of different housing combinations. They have a lot of different sizes, from a single cottage to a one-bedroom. They have a pool. They have a lot of amenities. The staff was very nice.

I have been to five different places, and we decided that The Highlands at Wyomissing was suited for me. What I liked about The Highlands was mainly the location, the setting, and the ability to get to all my doctors. They're right within the area, so I don't have to go very far. They have a deluxe apartment. It's the only unit like that in that facility there. It has a living room, a full kitchen, a bedroom, and a bath. It has a little nook where you can put a desk or something like that, but it's not considered a bedroom. Three meals a day is included too. The independent living is on the first floor, which makes it nice, because I have a dog. They're very pet friendly. They are on 113 acres, so they have a lot of walking paths and a lot of sitting areas outside, like under trees. It's just very nice. The staff member who gave the tour was great. She explained everything. She has only been there since January, but she was on the top of the game. She knew everything and she answered every question that we had without consultation. The place was very clean and very well decorated. In terms of activities, they have shuffleboard and a putting green.

Glad she out of there

Did NOT live up to their promises! Poor staffing to patient ratio. Mom fell and was hospitalized. Her medical POA and family were not notified. We visited and she wasn’t in her room, that’s how we found out. Way too much more to say. Look elsewhere!

The Highlands at Wyomissing is an upscale, lovely facility, and it's very tastefully decorated. It seems to have activities that would be appropriate for someone in memory care. The facilities are very upscale, it's first-class. As far as I'm concerned, the location is ideal because it's only 5 minutes from where I live. The neighborhood there is upscale and it's adjacent to a community park, lots of outdoor space. It's just a lovely community, no question. The staff was very professional. I've tried their food in the past, and it's good. I toured their memory care and I also toured their residential facility for the possibility that I would move there at some point.

I've been to The Highlands at Wyomissing to visit a friend who was there. It's a beautiful facility but the staff is going downhill very much over the past two years. They have everything that you would expect; it's a high-end facility. They have a lovely dining room, activities the same as most places have, a beautiful outside area, and the rooms are very nice. I saw some of the food and it looked great. My friend went from assisted living to skilled nursing care. But the level of care has not been good lately. The staff that I met were very nice.

My relative is in the memory care unit where the care is something to be desired. When he FaceTimes with us, he looks disheveled and unkept. He fell and we were never notified by the staff, he told us over the phone. They do not call us with updates and the social worker doesn’t return calls. The last visit time is 4, making it hard for people who work get there, also no visitation on the weekends. No family support groups or activities. I feel so badly that he is stuck there.

I chose The Highlands at Wyomissing because I think the medical care will be the best there. They're affiliated with the Reading Hospital, so they have more access to all the medical specialties, and it's a continuing care place. The grounds were beautiful and very nicely landscaped. The two rooms we saw were OK. There's a new section opening in June where I probably will be going. The staff could have explained more and shown us more of the place. The menu looked as if you were going to one of the nicer restaurants for dinner.

The Highlands at Wyomissing is the best. The thing I like most is the environment, and the benefits they provide. The entrance fee is considerably low. The room size is not that big, but it is attractive. The food was good.

I have not been to many facilities, but here are a few basic points: a) the facility is spotless, b) there are not bells ringing and ringing for hours on end which is common at other facilities, c) the staff are HAPPY, d) all the staff seem to know the patients by their first name, e) the medical staff is willing and able to provide any information without acting offended, f) food is way above anywhere else I have seen, and g) the facility is very, very nice providing multiple levels of care. Seeing happy staff is probably the best indicator that the place is great for patients.

It is a big step for us to move my parents, but The Highlands is a very good place; that at least makes us feel better, but it’s bumpy from day to day. My parents spent from 58 years in our house kind of pretty much their own independence. They didn’t go into even independent living, they are in for personal care or assisted living which is a big adjustment one day could be really good, the next day could be really bad, and it was close to my brother’s place. So we thought that it would be better, and my sister-in-law knows two people that worked in that facility so that made another difference, and that is why we have decided too. We moved them out mid-September, and it’s November already now. They’ve had good things and bad things, they are both in walkers now, and they have to get a whole new set of doctors, so that another semi-headache but it’s OK. It is as good as can be expected; I have never done this before so I don’t really know what to expect. I think everybody has been very kind, and they are very attentive. It was kind of yin and yang because I know my mom didn’t want to give up so much of her independence; she has been father’s caregiver so now she is kind of like she wants help but she doesn’t. She is an RN so sort of she knows the best; and we have to kind of tell her to lay back and relax and let them do the work. The people have all been very kind, and that has been a real plus. There is so much to do, and it is really a beautiful place. I would like them to be closer to me, but I really can’t complain as it is a really nice place. I have been there three times, and every time I have been there, it’s just been very nice.

The Highlands was very beautiful and we loved it a lot. However, it is a tad too expensive for us. We have two objections: one, it is a tad expensive or a little bit more than what we want to pay; number two, all of our doctors are in a certain hospital while it is associated with different doctors in another hospital. So we are no longer interested in the Highlands. I would recommend it to people who I thought might be in that income category. It is a beautiful country setting, a full-therapy facility, and it has a lot of activities for seniors. I liked everything about it. Their dining room was like going to a gourmet restaurant.

The Highlands is located in beautiful rolling hills in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood. It is also located in the park in Wyomissing so the grounds are beautiful, and there are pretty running and biking paths as well as a beautiful stream. The Highlands is comprised of multi-story apartment style units that are used for adults who need more care. There are also condos and single family homes for adults who are living more independently. All of the grounds maintenance is taken care of, and meals are offered in a dining hall in the main part of the building. The staff that I have interacted with seem very nice and capable, and the overall atmosphere seems warm. Additionally, there is an indoor pool, putting green, gym, and aerobics classes are offered. Residents can also take part in adult education classes and learning programs at the local universities. The facility is owned by Reading Hospital so resident care is also available and well-staffed.

Our family had a very good friend who lived at the Highlands in Wyomissing, PA for over five years. I always loved going there. I found the building and grounds well cared for, the residents well respected, and the staff extremely patient and concerned. I sometimes spent the night with our friend, and never once did I observe anything of concern. I especially liked the fact that everything seemed to be provided for the residents there. There was cleaning service, a beauty salon, dining areas (of course), and a pool. Early on I had some questions about the administration there. The questions were not because of any concerns I had, but just because I wanted to be sure our friend had asked them all and had a clear understanding of what her situation would be. I met with an administrator and they provided all of the answers to my questions in a way that was kind, gracious, and forthcoming.

Beautiful place. The art work on the walls was provided by the resisdents. There was a lot of activities for people to participate in. There was an indoor pool, library, gym, cafe, a spa, and many fish tanks and scenic views. Included senior living apartments, assisted living apartments, and also nursing home care. Very clean, did not smell like typical nursing home. Residents were active and seemed more happy than in places I've been in the past. This is a place designed for people who can afford it so I know it's not normal, but it has been the best experience in a nursing home I've ever had. And for once I did not leave depressed.

My grandmother was a resident of The highlands before she passed away. All the employees there are very caring and loving individuals. The facility is very well kept and has amazing landscape surrounding the whole facility. My grandmother always used to say that if she couldn't be in her own home that she couldn't have picked a better place to be. Everyone there was like family to my grandmother and to us as well.
