I visited a family member at Phoebe Berks Village's independent living. They do the cleaning for you there. It's very expensive but the place is good if you can afford it. I like their food, recreational facilities, and the fact that there are a lot of activities going on. The food I tried was very good and they offer a lot of variety. The wait staff also seem very friendly. I didn't interact with a lot of the staff, just the servers at the tables, but the person I was visiting said that the staff met her needs when she called them. They moved her in and even set up everything for her and she was very impressed by that. They have library spaces at the end of each hall plus a main library. The facility is very large and very well laid out. The apartments are also large with some of them even having porches. They have kitchen areas too. For activities, they have exercises, art classes, and a lot of church activities.

Phoebe Berks Village is located right near where my son and daughter work. The room was comparable to what was in the other place. We were only looking at a one-bedroom, and they had a patio if you got one on the first floor, but I don't think they had any first floors available at this time. Phoebe Berks Village would have been my next choice. They provide two meals a day, though. In the room they include a refrigerator, a stove, and a microwave. The staff who gave the tour was sure to point everything out. They have what they call a wall of painting where the residents paint, and she pointed all that out. She introduced us to a couple of the people that were there. She was very knowledgeable. She told us everything we wanted to know and told us if we had any other further questions to feel free to call. She was very good. Phoebe Berks Village's land is a little bit smaller than the other community, but it's still very nice. They're right on the highway, but you don't really hear the highway. They had a small area for outdoor space, like a patio setting for the residents to go out and sit. They also had it set up for gardening.

My dad was at Phoebe Berks Village over the summer. Obviously with the COVID restrictions, it was difficult to keep in constant communication with his support staff, and that was one difficulty we had. In terms of the rehabilitation he received, the staff was pretty responsive to him, though he ended up not really making a whole lot of progress while he was there. As far as working with them, the biggest negative was the communication, but the facility, food, amenities, all of that were really good. My dad always liked the food they had, and it seemed like they had a lot of variety and different things to eat. They worked around his dietary restrictions, too.

My husband is at Phoebe Berks and I'm just going to keep him there. It's an excellent place. I don't know if it has anything to do with Phoebe Ministries or not, but my husband needs skilled care and so I paid the fee for a month. He can't walk, so they have to use the Hoyer lift. He obviously needs the skilled living and he has dementia, and he seems to be okay at this place. I talked to him yesterday, and he sounded good. The food was okay, he says. It's a place where they can buy a home and when that gets to be too much, they can move into an apartment, or as they get older and more health issues come up, it can all be done under one umbrella. They have to help him to eat sometimes if he's having a bad day. There are people there who can help him eat. I'm real happy with their care. I'm assuming that everything's okay since I cannot be visiting. Every time I call, the nurses are most friendly and if I don't talk to my husband, they tell me how he's doing, whether he's not eating today or he's very tired. Everyone who answers the telephone has been super friendly. If you look at ratings for that place, I think they're all gonna be 5 stars. They said he was gaining some weight. It's a beautiful facility. I'm not there to actually see what's going on, but I'm sure that everything is just fine.

Phoebe Berks Village was very nice, very neat, and very clean. Beautiful buildings, beautiful surroundings, everybody was very nice and very friendly, and everybody seemed happy. We saw a room and an apartment, and we also saw skilled nursing. They had a beautiful chapel and a pool for hydrotherapy. Their suite had a sitting area, a little kitchenette with a mini refrigerator, a nice big bedroom and you could have a twin bed in it, a nice bathroom, lots of closet space, a nice walk-in closet, and a smaller closet near the entrance. From the first time that I called there, the reception was the best. They were very nice. They have a catering company that does their food, but I didn't get excited about their menu.

Phoebe Berks Village was very nice and very clean, but it had an entry fee. Each resident has to be ambulatory. It's a large facility and you have to walk to the dining area. They had a small pool, a small health room, shuttle services, and a small cafeteria. The price was high. They had movie nights and activity rooms where they play cards and bingo. It's one of the best in the Reading area. Everybody seemed nice, very accommodating, and very thoughtful. The food I ate in the cafeteria was good.

Phoebe Berks was very good as well. The staff was really good and gave an excellent tour. The food was very good, but they did not have many options for apartments. Cleanliness was excellent. The rooms were clean, very nicely painted and decorated, and comfortable.

Phoebe Berks is closer to my family. It’s nice, new, they seemed to have activities, and seems well-maintained. The staff was nice and accommodating. The location is better, and I don’t like the system at all as far as the down payment buy-in thing, I think that’s a big climb. You should be able to pay it though not come up with $50 or 60 thousand to move in.

My mother was initial living with Phoebe Berk - Independent Living for 8 years. We got someone there coming in and provide home healthcare for her in her apartment. We had tried for a while with an agency that had been recommended by the facility itself. We were trying to look for more options if there's a more cost effective way of doing it. But there it really wasn't a matter of cost anymore. The doctors and other healthcare providers thought that she already needed an assisted living so that's when we went to that direction. My mother has now transitioned to Phobe Berks Assisted Living. She is now in a studio room with a private bath. The food there is good but not that excellent. Their facilities both Independent and Assisted living are excellent. The staff there are very impressive. To my opinion, it's a first class type of operation they're running there.

We visited Phoebe Berks together with my parents in-law. It is such an amazing place! The place is very large and the grounds were extremely well kept. The entire complex is enclosed. If anyone would go live there they would not have to go outside to go anywhere. Everything is enclosed. They have walkways that connect each building to another. The residents don't have to go outside unless they want to. They have a gift shop inside the area. There's a beauty shop, a fitness center, a pool, a chapel with any religious ceremony that you can think of, activity rooms, a rehab . They have a multitude of activities. You name it, they have it. They just opened up a new outside courtyard for different ball games and they have places to sit. This place is really amazing. We knew that the place is really nice but it's different if you really come and tour the place. They have a wide variety of apartments with all different sizes. They have apartments with patios, apartments with balconies, or apartments that don't have that access. Every floor that has at least 10 apartments and there is a laundry facility. If you can't have one inside your apartment you can go to that laundry facility with no charge. They have washers and dryers there that the you can use anytime of the day. Everybody is well taken care of. The lady who took us around she knew everybody by name. I mean, wow that's a lot of people to know by name. They knew her and everybody there seemed happy and pleasant. Believe it or not, the prices there are reasonable given all these amenities. They do have a buy-in with this place. Some other facilities don't have a buy-in. The one thing that's good about Phoebe Berks is that the buy-in is refundable. You can actually buy in to cottages like a single family home and you can just progress from one section to another as you need it. You could go from a cottage to independent living apartment. You can go from that to personal care. You can go from personal care to skilled. It is kinda a large outlay of money to begin with but the apartments are very reasonable.

My father was the person staying at this facility for a bit to recover from surgery for brain cancer. My father had no complaints about the facilities and my mother, who visited everyday for his stay, thought the same. Her only actual complain seemed to be cost - however, I really think that you get what you pay for in this sort of area. He had a single room with amenities such as an HDTV and lots of chairs for guests. Although his stay was short, it was indeed a pleasant one. When I visited, I found the staff to be helpful and kind. The facilities look very nice on the inside and outside. Meals were average for an assisted living facility. I didn't hear any complaints but there weren't many compliments on them.As a visitor, close parking and an easily found location are important to me also. This location is easy to find and has plenty of parking for guests. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs assistance for a loved one.
