I toured pretty much the whole facility of Personal Care at Evergreen. We went down and started downstairs, then we went upstairs, and they showed us the whole place. They seemed like very caring people. Everyone seemed to be happy and they were out watching TV in the common area. It looked like it was extremely clean and very nice. They showed us the activity room and the common areas. They showed us where they prepare the food and I guess they do crafts and things like that in the activities area too. I didn't check their menu, but they explained that they serve hot meals, and they were getting ready to serve lunch when we left, but we did not stay for that. The staff who assisted me was very, very good, and very knowledgeable. She couldn't give me information about availability and pricing, but certainly told me about the staff and how they manage people. She also told me that if you need extra care to shower and bathe, they have that option, and that they would take care of that. She was the nurse on staff there. I don't know if it was perfect, but it's definitely very high up there. It was definitely more like a community and not a hospital type of environment. It was definitely homey too.

Personal Care at Evergreen was a smaller facility where there was some genuine care for each person without making it feel like they were in a dormitory. The first person that I spoke with showed me around the facility and showed me the community area, and it was very clean. The person that talked with me was very gracious. I kind of pulled them out in the middle of something they were doing and yet they took the time to show me around. It was a very nice facility. It had multiple floors to it and that was one of the drawbacks for me, but it doesn't necessarily make the facility a bad one. It was just something I wasn't looking for.

My first experience with Evergreen was in 2008 when my mother was declining and was unable to care for herself. We admitted her to Evergreen, sadly, against her wishes. The administrator and staff went above and beyond to make my mother feel comfortable and welcome and showed utmost patience for her. When her needs became too much for the home, they referred her to a nursing home facility. Because of our positive experience with Evergreen in 2008, we were more than happy to bring our father there. The facility is very nicely decorated and brightly lit for the residents, with several lounge areas for them to enjoy. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean by the staff. We have found the staff to be very kind and courteous to all the residents and the administrators are very on the ball and quick to call us when there is a health problem with our father. He has lived at Evergreen for two years now and in that time he has made many friends and has had more of a social life than he'd had in years. Several times a year, Evergreen hosts family events for the residents and their families, all of which are a lot of fun for everybody. The only suggestion I have for the facility would be that I wish they'd have a van for the residents so that they can get out shopping or just go for a ride once in a while. I'm sure people would be willing to pay for this amenity. Other than that, I am extremely happy with the care my parents have received at Evergreen.
