My mother has been a resident of Highland Park Care Center. Unfortunately, due to Covid, there are no visits allowed. It was recommended by her physician. It has a memory care unit. She seems to be happy there. They keep me informed as to what's going on. I haven't met the staff personally, but I called there at least twice a week and they seemed friendly on the phone. They take the phone to my mother. It seems like they have a nice relationship with me and my mother. I have no complaints. My mother seems happy. She is safe. It all seems good at this point. My mother has a shared room. I really don't know much about their activities or amenities. I know a physical therapist and an occupational therapist see her. I know they give her some activities and there are activities to do. She is not a very active person, but they try to get her involved. It is in a pretty neighborhood, but there's not a lot of land, and it looks more hospital-like.

My mother went to Highland Park Care Center from the hospital. She was there two and a half years ago and she stayed there for about two months. The staff was nice, but they didn't have enough staff. She wasn't involved in any activities. I think they just let her stay in bed more so than anything else. She got physical therapy for a while. Right before she came home, they started taking her down to Bible study, but other than that, she didn't participate in anything. The meals were not that good and a lot of times she would just refuse to eat the food and it didn't appear appetizing. After my mother left, I had a friend that also stayed there and she was saying how bad the food was. The staff was friendly enough, but I think they needed more help, because a couple of times, somebody from another floor came up to take care of my mother.

About 18 months ago sadly, I had placed my mom in the care of Highland Park Care Center. There is a lot to like about Highland Park Care Center. The staff there treat you and your family member with dignity and respect. They facilities look and smell clean. They are also offer a variety of fun activities for the residents such as, Bowling, Prize bingo, Board and card games and movie nights. There is always staff on hand to answer a phone call day or night. Most of the staff can answer of most medically concerned questions about your loved one and are very supportive of the concerned family members as well. There are may positives to Highland Park care. There are also some negatives about Highland Park Care Center. As in most places that care for the elderly, not all of the people are as honest as they may appear. There were problems with missing money and clothing mix-ups after their clothes are laundered. Other than theft of money and clothing mix-ups it is still a good care facility. And I would still recommend it.

This care center is horrible!! They released by mother who has MS without telling anyone. They discharged her and sent her home in a van and then I was called by the transporter letting me know that they have been outside with my mom for almost an hour waiting for someone to let her in. No one was home at the time so I had to leave and go home and get her. Just days before the Highland Park Care Center told me that she was on schedule for 5 weeks of physical therapy and then scheduled a meeting for my dad and I to come in to discuss futher plans after the 5 weeks of therapy. When I call to talk to the supervisor about them doing this, all she could say that my mom is able to make her own decisions. Meanwhile, with my Mothers MS she cant even remember what she ate for dinner. One of my co workers had this happen to his mother as well. Never go there! They also do not have any phones in the rooms and they only have 1 tv that you have to share with your roomate but there are 2 remotes.
