Of the three places we visited, it is just Redstone Highlands at North Huntingdon that we were impressed with right now. It was a very informative tour. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The staff could not show us a two-bedroom unit, which is what we would prefer, but we got to tour a one-bedroom unit. She took us on a complete tour, explained everything, and invited us to stay for lunch, which was very good. It was like eating in a restaurant. The only thing that was self-service was the salad bar, so we were quite impressed with that. The whole layout of the grounds sits on a former dairy farm, so it's very tranquil and peaceful. They have a lot of outside benches and firepits and things where you could just go outside and sit. It seems like there are a lot of activities going on, and we were very impressed with that, too. However, it's on the upper part of the expense. But you get what you pay for. And the staff members were very courteous and informative. My husband has Parkinson's, and so another thing that we were impressed with at the Redstone was that they have classes and exercises going on all the time for those patients. In our situation, that's a big requirement that we would have that added care for him.

Redstone was nice as the one I chose for my mother, but it was much more expensive. There was a variety of different sizes and layouts of the apartments. They were very clean. The food there was very good as well. The dining area was very clean, very bright, and very accommodating. They had doctors that came in, or they would take you to the doctors. They had constant activities going on. They had several recreation rooms and library. They took them shopping and on field trips.
