My mom is set up in Amber House at Harmon House. She's been there a week. They don't have appliances in the room, they have a regular cafeteria, and they cook the meals for them. The staff is very helpful, they're busy, but they do take time to return your phone calls and everything. They gave her a menu and she got to pick out what she wanted. So she was pleased with it. It's very clean. They have physical therapy, and they have parties, like for Halloween, they're planning a Halloween party.

My mom has been at Harmon House Health and Rehab Center for three weeks. It doesn't seem like the rehabilitation there is as good as I was told. I'm not so happy with the rehabilitation department. What I like most about it is that it doesn't smell inside, and they're well-staffed. The facility is clean. The lighting and space are good. It's fairly decent for a nursing home. The staff members are pretty adequate. They're on top of things there. They're up on the medications and feeding them. The food service is good. The quality of the food is overall fairly good for a nursing home. It's way overpriced. They need to improve at interacting with the patient's family. They don't seem to be really that friendly.

My mom is in Amber House at Harmon House. They do a good job there, it's clean, and the care is pretty good, although they are understaffed. The staff is very good. Food could be better. They have bingo, bowling. They have activities and they have entertainment, and they offer religious activities like Rosary. You never think you get what you pay for, but it's adequate, it's a fair price.

We put my mom at Amber House which is right next to Mount Pleasant Hospital. And she was only in there a couple of days; she's unable to stay in a place like that because she's not ambulatory. It's very clean and the people are very nice. They took good care of her with what they could do; he wasn't cooperative but they did what they could do. The facility is very nice. They have activities, she just didn't participate in anything. I think it's a good value for the money. I like that it's a lot closer to our house than the other facility, and it's also close to the hospital. The rooms are nice. She was in a single room. They also had bigger rooms, like a suite. You pay more price for it, but you could get a bigger room with more room inside, several chairs and a couch.

Maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon, I don’t think there were too many activities going on at Harmon House. There were a lot of people sitting in wheelchairs right outside their doors, looking very bored and sad. Other than that it seemed clean, no frills, and it looked like it could use some modernizing. We had called ahead during the week to arrange for a Sunday tour, but the person who gave us the tour was the receptionist, who didn’t know much at all. She couldn’t give us any knowledgeable information.

The staff was very friendly and helpful to both my grandfather, as well as to the family. They were very accomidating and caring. This facility held social functions for the residents to partake in, as well as holding activities for family to be involved in. After the passing of my grandfather, Amber House had several nurses who had cared for him call, send cards, and condolences even months later. I would definetly recommend this facility to others.
