My mother moved in already in Brethren Village. We chose it because of the location and the facilities. The staff is excellent. They answer all of our questions, were very attentive, very responsive to any concerns that we had, and very concerned about making sure that she was happy. She's in rehab right now. She's in about a 12x12 room and there are two rooms that share one bath. She will be in personal care there next week. There's a difference between personal care and assisted living, but it's just a step up. They get a little more help than in assisted living. The dining area is excellent. They have physical therapy there. It's like a four-hotel hotel, and it's very expensive. It costs as much as a cruise ship, but obviously, you're not on a cruise. Judging by other people that we talked to who had relatives in a similar situation, the price is right in line with every place else. It's just surprising that it costs as much as a cruise ship. We're very happy with the way everything has gone so far.

Both my mother and father were at Brethren Village. While the facility is very expensive, it lacks in so many ways. My father fell many times, because he was transported by one person instead of the required two people. Both of their bathrooms were so dirty that my sister would clean them when she was there on the weekends. Both of them had very nice clothing we had purchased for them come up missing. We were told many times "we just don't have the staff" to do what was required for my mother. It was an awful place that charged them an arm and a leg. Please reconsider if you are thinking of taking your loved one here. Their sales pitch is exactly that, a sales pitch. They would be better off across the street at the Government Facility. If I could give 0 stars for this place, I would. Once they have your money, they don't care!!

Our experience with Brethren Village was good, but it's out of our price range. The accommodations were nice. They have apartments for seniors who don't need any care. We went to an open house. Some apartments were small, but the higher priced ones were more spacious. We visited members from our church there, so we're very familiar with them. They have music come in, bingo, birthday parties, artists, and all kinds of activities. The staff was competent. The food was good. They just put a new therapy room. They have different restaurants in different areas, and there's a restaurant in each of the apartment complexes, so if they want to eat out, they don't have to go out. It's across from the airport.

Brethren Village is top notch. I would have been just as pleased there, but the price is too expensive. It was more upper class and more modern, so he would not fit in. It was set up more like a village, was very spacious, and had a very pleasant atmosphere.

My father-in-law was in Brethren Village for four years. It's very nice and clean. The people we dealt with were very friendly. He was first in a condominium section, then he was moved to personal care, and then moved to the next step down, so we've experienced all the areas, which were all very nice. From what I could tell, the staff was fine; I didn't notice anything negative. I know they took shopping trips, had music, entertainment, chapel, and games. We have eaten in the cafe or coffee shop, and it was good. It was nicely decorated; they have remodeled almost all of their buildings, so it was all very modern and elegant. It was always clean and didn't smell awful. It had nice, big hallways and nice, high ceilings that made it feel nice and open.

We only visited one place, and that was Brethren Village. It was a community that had independent living, assisted living and long-term car. It was a very large community. It had all the facilities for swimming, exercise, and educational classes, few shops, and many times. It had a couple of restaurants inside. It was a very nice place for people who wanted or needed to live there. We had someone who gave a personal tour. A lady in the marketing, and she explained everything to us in great detail in the beginning before the tour. The apartment was very nice. It was a two-bedroom apartment, but it was small.

We visited Brethren Village Retirement. It was in our local area, and we had heard good recommendations about it, so we went over, spoke with them, and took a tour. It was everything that people told it was. We were not fully committed, but they knew of our interest. I had a thorough tour of their facility, and it was great. They had multiple activities, fitness facilities, and pool facilities. Their living area went from cottages, apartments, personal assistance to dementia areas, and it was very clean. Their apartments were not only extremely tasteful, but they were also very well kept. Whenever a new person came in, they would completely change rugs and paint it to your liking, and they were always doing things to upgrade for the needs of the people there, which was wonderful. They were expanding, and that was a good thing. They had a wood shop on the facility. Aside from all the things that I mentioned, I thought overall, what I liked the most was the attention to the needs of the residents.

Brethren Village was wonderful. We were impressed with the cottage we saw; it was beautiful and large. They have a theater, a pool, a fitness center, wood working, a gardening club, and a beauty parlor. The people are taking part in the activities, meeting people, and enjoying that.

We liked Brethren Village Retirement Community. We liked the size of it; it is not all that big. We liked the apartments that they sell and the facilities; the pool, the exercise room, and the people were lovely. It was very pretty. The food seemed very good. The main reason why we like it so much is that it is five minutes from our son. The staff was very, very friendly -- everybody was. We liked so much that we saw many people around; nobody was back in their apartments. They came out and they were friendly. We were very impressed. We have decided to go with them, but it will take two to three years before we can go. They have such a waiting list, but it is worth waiting for. We had a wonderful feeling about it.

I particularly like Brethren Retirement Community (Brethren Village). My parents are now on a waiting list to get an apartment unit there. The staff was wonderful. They were very helpful and very honest. They answered all of our questions. We really like them. What we particularly like is that they would refurbish each apartment. We were shown facilities that they had with respect to activities. We visited a woodworking shop. They had pool tables, a movie theater, and card game areas.

I know Brethren Village because we live in the community. We had a nice tour around. It met most of what we were looking for in the size of the apartment, the number of rooms, the cost, and the fact that because it's church-affiliated it would never really run out of money. They would support you if your funds ran out and it had a continuum of care if my aunt needed more than assisted living. The staff is very nice. I know several people who live there independently. They have very good things to say about the café that's there. It's open to people from the outside if they wanted to go in. They had a variety of things. There was a craft room. They had day trips. There was someone there giving manicures to the ladies when we happened to tour it. I like the size of the apartment. The fact that she could have a separate sitting room, a little tiny kitchen, and a separate bedroom, and that it was bright and sunny, was one of the nicest features that I found. There is a shopping center across the street. They have like a pizza place, an Asian restaurant, a yogurt stand, and a dry cleaner.

Brethren Village is too big for me, like living in a city. The facilities are nice, but it seemed awfully big, and I'm not used to apartment living. Its location is good. It's very clean, and from what I understand, they have all kinds of activities. I guess they were all in their rooms there. There were very few things happening at that time.

The rates of Brethren Village were relatively reasonable. We saw some of their rooms and apartments and they were adequate. We thought the staff was friendly. They seemed to have answered all our questions and provided us with the information we needed.

We've got to visit the place and it's beautiful. They have gardens and greenhouses. The place is actually wide and open. They have nice facilities and it's well maintained and cleaned. The room are spacious and clean. The food is good. The people are nice and the staffs are professional though they lack a bit of interaction.

I've visited a number of retirement communities that--on the surface--appeared exceptional; however, most ended up falling short of expectations due to various reasons (ie. lack of profession, lack of sanitation, poor atmosphere, costs disproportional to offerings, etc). The Brethren Village Retirement Community of Lancaster does not fall into this grouping. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was impressed by the skills and professionalism of the staff. Unlike other facilities, Brethren Village employs trained, educated professionals. You need not worry whether your loved on is receiving proper treatment at this location. Additionally, the facility is properly maintained and cleaned. It could easily be mistaken for a high-rated hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. My only complaint with the facility would have to be the lack of nearby entertainment. The closest mall or shopping outlet isn't exactly close, but fortunately, the facility itself offers a wide range of entertainment options and activities. At the end of the day, I'd have a hard time recommending a better establishment.

The facility itself is very nice. They have beautiful carpeted floors and the rooms are gorgeous as well. They have flat screen TVs for all of their residents and uniform bedding. Despite the beautiful appearances of this nursing facility, I do question the quality of care that the residents receive. Often when I visit the facility, the resident that I am visiting is usually soaking wet or they smell of BM. I ring the call bell for somebody to come change her and it sometimes takes over 30 minutes for somebody to arrive. The aides who come to change act annoyed that I am requesting that the resident be changed. I am sometimes there during meal times and I will feed the resident that I visit. The food seems to be of good quality and they offer the resident clothing protectors that seem to be hand made and very pretty. As far as the objective items in this facility, it is very nice and well kept. It looks beautiful and inviting, but since the residents don't seem to be getting proper care, I can't give this facility a good rating.

My grandfather was a resident of Brethren Village for six years. During his time there he was provided with great care and attention from qualified nurses and staff, and was provided with specialty and hospice care when needed. The nursing home has a great ability to deal with many issues affecting residents and their families. For example, after my grandfather's condition worsened, he was able to be moved to a more secure floor, where he could be given more individualized care and treatment. The atmosphere is similar to many nursing homes, but the staff attempted to keep it as welcoming as possible, and to not make it feel like a medical institution. The rooms are very spacious, and there are numerous activities such as Bingo and worship services to keep the residents active and engaged during their time. Brethren Village also offers numerous lounges and cafe areas for visiting relatives, which contributes to the welcoming atmosphere of the facility.
