The location of Berks Leisure Living is good. It is not a place where I would want my sister to be permanently, but it would be a nice place for respite until she's better. Everyone was very nice and professional, and they seemed to care about the people that were residents there. They're very friendly. They seem to have a lot of activities going on, I saw the schedule for the month, and every day there's something different happening. They even have people coming in as part of entertainment for them, they seem to have a lot to do and if you want to participate, there's plenty to do. For what my sister needs, the room which is more than a room, will be sufficient. I saw what was coming up for the evening meal and that looked good. They have an exercise room, I met one of the physical therapists and they were friendly. They have an area for that and they've got a little library and a community room where everybody can gather. It seems to be a very, very nice place.

Berks Leisure Living is a renovated former elementary building that they turned into a care facility, so the rooms were extremely spacious, with very wide hallways also because it had been a former school building. In general, I thought it was nice. The thing for me was it was too far of a distance to travel from where we live so that I could visit my dad daily. It was a little more simple in decor. One thing I noticed when I walked in was there was a little bit of an aroma that just didn't sit well with me. I'm not quite sure, but it smelled like an old building and it is an old building. It was something that just caught my attention. The staff was very helpful. The food smelled good. There was a little bit of an aroma of cigarette smoke also, and it might have been because it drifted in from outside, but you could tell it was in the air in certain areas of the facility. I didn't see any activity. That one was more in the evening around 6:30, so there were a few people who were finishing up their dinners, but the dining area was not full. Most of the residents seemed to have sort of settled back into their rooms for the night.

Rooms are okay, Staff are lazy as can be constantly on there phones and do minimal work but do have a 2 good girls on 1st shift and 2 good ones on 2nd shift. The administrator is horrible and gossips about everyone including residents and everything is swept under the carpet. I would not recommend this place for family or any one to work.

Berks Leisure Living was affordable to me and I liked the location because it was out in the country. They have single rooms, a library, and activities.

We were referred to Berk’s Leisure Living and had the chance to visit the place. It was OK. It’s not as nice as the other two, but it was really affordable. The rooms were nice. The lady that we talked to was very nice, but the staff seemed standoffish and that turned me off. They were not friendly. They had different things going, but there was an extra charge when you needed to go your doctor’s appointment.

Right now, she’s in Berk’s Leisure Living. The food is not that great, but the people are really good. It’s not perfect, but it’s nice. I liked the way those people treat her, so that’s most important.
