My mother is in Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. They provide excellent care, but I don't know if I would put my relative in there for long-term care. There's a lot of issues with the facility, but the rehab is phenomenal. The best thing about it would be that they do rehab five to six days a week. They're very intensive and it's great. The regular nursing is wonderful, but the agency nursing is not so much. They don't have food choices, but it's OK. The food is not horrible, but it's not great. It's somewhere in the middle. It's beautiful where it is. It's not a new facility, so it's not super modern, but it's clean. They have a lot of activities there.

I think the nurses and staff of Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have been very supportive, even the aides are very good with Mom. Therapy has been good, too, and we have not had any issues. She's gotten great care. They're very caring, very responsive to her needs, and everybody has been very pleasant that we've come across. It's an older facility, but it's very clean. They have an activities room where they get together, they play bingo, and they had an ice cream social the other day.

My friend is in this facility and she gets treated like a 5-year-old.. she has stage 4 cancer and they act like that she doesn't matter at all. They don't give her the food that she orders one of the staff members pulled her down the hallway backwards in her wheelchair told her pretty much to do what she has to do for herself this is a poor facility and this place should be shut down!!

We had just moved my dad to Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They seem to be conscientious, and they call me and give me reports on what's going on. If I make a request, they acknowledge it and they do their best to accommodate. The move-in process was great. They got him there on time and had him settled in so they did well. He's happy, he didn't have any complaints. He said the food was good and tasted homemade, not out of the can or something like that. They're hoping to put a few pounds back to him now, that was their goal. They were talking to me, they call me, and I was on a conference call with some of the staff last week. It was great to have them talking about him, with a group of people. So it was nice. His room is very comfortable, really homey, and he was pleased with it. They were doing therapy with him in his room. They do therapy with him and they have the facility to do that stuff with folks. It's fairly expensive, but the staff is very very good. They have nice courtyard, they have an area where guests could go and sit with them with chairs and tables. They permit you to order food out or have it in, or we could bring food in for him to have a little dinner. So they're very accommodating with that kind of thing.

My mother-in-law moved into Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center about a month ago now. She started in rehab, but she's in skilled nursing now. It's a nice facility, and the level of care seems to be pretty good considering the state of things today with COVID and the shortage of people. They seem to take pretty good care of her. She's a little particular, but she seems to be pretty happy with what she's getting there. The staff has been pretty helpful. You ask them a request and they'll try to fill it for you. They have been very, very flexible. They try to do what they can even though they're short staffed. The facility is nice, clean, and very nicely lit. There is a fountain in the lobby when you walk in, and it carries through from there. The location is pretty handy for a part of our family, it's only ten or fifteen minutes from here, and it's also just off a major highway. They always keep in touch. In fact, we're going to be getting a conference meeting here in a little bit. They have weekly conference calls where they provide updates, ask questions, and get our input. I don't want to call it rustic, but it's been around for a while, and it's in the middle of meadows and fields. There are horses that go by and the residents can see them. It's a country setting like that.

I have visited the elderly at Harrison House in Christiana Pennsylvania on several occasions voluntarily to speak with the elderly and keep them company. While most of the staff seem nice and caring in general, there are quite a few that don't really seem to care for the residents. The residents always seem to be by themselves and on many occasions needed assistance, but no one would help them. The residents themselves have expressed to me that they feel so alone and that they are a burden to the staff if they ask for assistance. Not only are there quite a few bad seeds when it comes to the caregivers, but the facility itself isn't very clean. You can smell a very strong odor as soon as you walk in the door and it gets stronger as you move throughout the building. Some of the residents rooms I visited had such a repulsive odor that I had to leave the room because the smell was so overwhelming. In my opinion, there is no excuse for that. They are fully equipt with staff and it is part of their duty to ensure that the facility stays clean and odor free. Personally, I wouldn't want one of my family members living at Harrison House, but unfortunately that goes for most assisted living facilities. You will find flaws anywhere you go and sadly there will always be members of the staff that just don't care enough.

My grandmother has been a resident of this facility for about six years now and i have been very happy with that care that she has been provided over the years. HSL (Harrison Senior Living) staff i believe truly care for there residents, i visit my grandmother about once a week and the staff are always in good spirits. Now as in all jobs there are a few employees such as cna's there that dont enjoy there work but for the most part they have a great staff. They also are constantly remodelling and updating there facility. Just this pass summer they built a beautifull terrace and flower garden for the residents to spend time in outside. The activities director does a fantastic job of coming up with creative events and activities for the residents aswell,Candlelight dinners, dances, happy hours, and parties to name a few. I would recommend this nursing home to any person thinking about moving a loved one into a home. I think the staff really makes the residents feel at home and cared for at Harrison Senior Living.
