Magnolias of Chambersburg was introduced to our family by a friend who was familiar with it. After my brother's stroke, the need for care became a necessity and the staff at Magnolia's has been absolutely amazing with the care, respect, and importance they place on his needs. our family lives many states away and it is reassuring to see the care that he gets. His room is perfect for him, the meals keep him satisfied and the camaraderie has encouraged him to participate and become an active participant. in short, I highly recommend this team of people and the facility to anyone who is in a position to support a loved one. These folks are second to none.

Magnolias of Chambersburg was a very nice place. It was very clean. The residents seemed to be well cared for. The staff was friendly, caring, and helpful. The room that I saw was more than sufficient with nice furniture. It looked pleasant. They had the activities list posted and they had at least 2 things going on daily. They had off-campus activities available as well like they go out for ice cream weekly. They had morning exercise classes and music. If money was no problem and they have a room available, that's certainly the place that I'd choose for a family member.

My mother-in-law went to the memory care facility in June of 2021 and she is still their. She seems very happy their and she has many other housemates as friends. The facility is not like any other nursing home facility i have ever been in. It is very, very nice, similiar to a dorm. Each big room has its own nice bathroom. They have 2 large diningros with plenty of seating, good meals and snacks and drinks for the residents. The facility is very, very clean. All the aids n nurses and staff are very, very nice. They have a resident cat and dog. They have several nice seating rooms. It is a beautiful facility! I would recommend it to anyone.

My dad was a resident of Magnolias of Chambersburg. The personnel that worked there were very caring and concerned and kept me informed of what things were going on with my father. However, some things weren't his, clothing-wise, and things like that that would end up in the drawers in his closet. It was required to mark their names in all of their clothing, so I wasn't certain how things that were not his would end up in his room. Maybe that's just part of being in an assisted living facility where someone else does your laundry. We weren't allowed to do the laundry because of Covid. We had just been able to go into the facility to see him twice, and then he had an episode and ended up going to the hospital. So, we didn't get to have a whole lot of experience with being inside the facilities ourselves personally, but I was overall happy with the quality of staff and the care that he received. They have two different facilities. One is just regular assisted living and then one was memory care. He was on the memory care side of the assisted living. He was still able to get around on his own, like with a wheelchair. He just required assistance to get up and then someone to walk with him when he was walking with a walker; they gave that level of care. He didn't require anyone to feed him or anything like that, he could feed himself. So, assistance with bathing and things like that, he required. And they did all of that. We saw the dining area, but we weren't able to go into that area. I think under regular circumstances, you could go in and you could dine with them, but we weren't allowed to do any of that when we visited with him. We had to go straight to his little room and stay there and visit with him. And then when it was time to leave, they escorted us back out. He had a dresser that was provided and there was a bathroom attached to it that had a sink and a toilet. There was a closet, and they would have also provided a bed. We did take in a hospital bed, but they would have provided a bed. I'm not sure exactly what the dimensions were on it, but it just accommodated a twin-size bed and a dresser. We took in a reclining chair and also had a bedside nightstand. So that was pretty much all that would fit in there. They sent out a monthly calendar of the activities and it seemed like every day would have kind of a current news time where they talk about current events, but not negative ones. It wasn't politics or anything like that, just talk about some current events. They'd have singalongs, some bingo, a little trivia time, and there was even as a little dancing one time. It seemed very nice facilities, pretty well maintained. It was clean and very pleasant.

This is a small facility with private rooms. Most have bathrooms but at least one does not, which means going directly across the hall. Renovations (new paint, furniture) were done in 2016, along with new carpet. Easy to navigate, all one floor. My one concern is that it is accessible to anyone coming in off the street with no one at a front desk to monitor visitors. Food is about average for this type of facility. The one downside is that the rooms do not have individual temperature controls. This facility is probably best for those needing minimal assistance. As of 2019 renovations have not been started to connect the 2 buildings.

I visited Magnolias of Chambersburg. My first impression was that it's dark and small. We were only shown one of the rooms, and it looked crowded. The person who accommodated me was not pushy or anything. She just showed us around and was being impartial about the whole thing. I was grateful for that, but I instantly didn't like it there. They didn't have as many residents there as the place we picked because it was very small. I didn't see any activities during my visit. I only saw one resident while I was there. Everybody was in their rooms and their doors were closed. It was late morning when I went there. The person giving the tour was doing her best. I would suggest they use some brighter paint. It would help tremendously. They should also add better lighting and new flooring, and I think they need new rugs.

Magnolias of Chambersburg was very well kept and clean. They have two separate areas, one for memory care, and one for regulars. They take 20 residents on each side. It's a very homey, comfortable looking establishment. The staff was nice and they really like working there. The dining area looked really well appointed.

Magnolias of Chambersburg is a beautiful place, but very expensive. I just didn't like that it's off of a busy road. It's only ten years old and they've tried to make it as homey as possible. They don't have a lot of residents. The memory care unit side is locked and secure, and the other side is not. They provide a lot of good amenities and everyone I talked to was nice. The other thing that concerned me a little bit was that when I went into the building one evening, I went into the side that wasn't secure and I was able to get inside the building and into one of the main hallways. That didn't feel good to me, because it means anybody could just walk in there and the staff wouldn't see them unless they've walked through a couple of areas.

We toured Magnolias of Chambersburg. It was older but well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were a good size and well lit; a couple of corner rooms had two windows. They were nice. The location was convenient since there was a major street in front it. The dining area was basic but clean and adequate.

Magnolias of Chambersburg was very nice but a little pricey. It seemed that the residents were very independent.

Magnolias of Chambersburg facility seems quite adequate for the purposes that I was visiting for my mother in law. The rooms were pleasantly big, and they were of nice size. The facility seemed relatively well-kept and new, and it was a single floor -- no travelling up and down stairs. It was an impressive little facility, but that was one of the issues; it was such a small facility. It was simply for one level of care in that particular building; it turned to be kind of a downhill as in case something ever happened to my mother like a fall or some other medical condition.

I was really very impressed by Magnolias. The atmosphere was very nice; each person had their own little area. They decorated their own doors, so walking down the hallway you could see what people liked. The lady who helped us there was extremely nice. The community rooms were very pleasant, and the people were just walking, seeming very happy.

We chose Magnolias of Chambersburg for my mom because they have a memory care unit. I also like that it’s small and secure. The food is not anything fantastic, but it is not industrial food. They have people like a podiatrist and hairdressers visit. They have separate bathing facilities and private rooms with their own half bath. They have cable TV in each of the rooms.

Caring.com was instrumental in my placing my wife in the memory care unit at Magnolias. She is comfortable and well adjusted to this 24 bed unit. The staff is attentive and loving of their residents. I am pleased and thankful for the placement and Caring's help in finding accommodation for my wife.

We already have my parents in Magnolias of Chambersburg. We are very pleased with it. The staff is exceptional, friendly, and they know all of the clients' names. The apartments are very nice; I find them the best in the area. The whole place is a very homey atmosphere. It is small but homey. There are 24 rooms for the memory care, and my mother is in one of them; there are 24 rooms in the senior living, and my father is in one of them. They are close enough that they can easily walk back and forth and visit each other, so they are both very pleased with the arrangement. They do as much for the residents as what we would do for our parents. They play Bingo, and they have church groups that come in, birthday parties, and crafts for them. They take them on scenic drives, and they take them out for ice-cream or to restaurants periodically. There is plenty to do. The only downside is they are definitely geared towards the ambulatory. They really aren't staffed to do a lot of heavy nursing. They only have an RN on duty 8 hours a day, and in the off-hours, it's Med-techs. They don't have a physical thereapy facility on-site; they bring in people, but that is just not the same thing because you can't bring in the equipment and everything, so their ability to do physical therapy on-site is limited.

My dad is in The Magnolias. The facility is very clean. The management and the nurses there seem very caring. He is getting quality care. The room is a little smaller than I expected, but it is very clean and very nice. The security appears to be very good. You have to sign and ring a bell to go in. The cleanliness that I see is very good. I like that he is taken care of and protected. He cannot get out and hurt himself. They bring food over from another facility that they are connected with, but I think that is going to improve.

Dad is currently at Magnolias of Chambersburg. The food is institutional, but not bad. My dad likes it. I think they are very caring from what I see. I did not see anything negative from the staff. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The facility itself is very lovely. The room that my dad is in has its own bathroom, and they are of good size. It’s very sunny and very nice. They have Bible study, and people come in to sing and entertain the residents. The director is very capable and very good with the residents.

I took my sister to Magnolias twice for respite care. My sister is not a senior, she is intellectually disabled though. I chose this one because the staff to client ratio was pretty good. It is a small facility. We were pleased with their performance the first time around. Everything was fine, but the last time I took her there, they had some problem and I was very unsatisfied. I left my sister there for two weeks. When I returned for her, her hair hadn't been washed for 15 days. Also I thought that the security was a little lax. Thirdly, they instituted a new protocol for clients with fall risk. They were going to put a colored band on my sister's wrist to identify her as a fall risk. When I got there, she didn't have the band on. I pointed to the executive director that I thought they had training and communication issues. Somebody dropped a ball on that. I paid $400 for enhanced care for two weeks on top of $1600 and I didn't have any problem with that, but I went, came back there and found out that her hair hadn't been washed since I dropped her off there, I was very upset.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I am glad that for first stay was successful and am disappointed that your second stay was not. The concerns that you expressed are not to the standards that we expect in our community. We always work to respond very promptly to correct any challenges. After your follow up here and with our community leadership, we re-affirmed our team members understanding of the new program and added more time for caregivers to ensure that others don’t have the same experience. Thanks again for your feedback and hopefully your sister will join us again for a visit in the future.

I visited this home as a professional. I was struck with the feel of the place right away. It goes for the at home feel however just barely misses. It feels more like a motel at times however the staff was always very friendly and accommodating. There seemed to be alot of activities that people could participate in and when I was there people were active with chatting, playing cards and seemed to be having an enjoyable experience. The dementia floor seems to be well organized with locked doors and alarms to make sure that if someone were to slip out the door they would be able to be found prior to leaving the building. One very nice thing about this place is that they offer a nice veterans discount which helps many families afford their costs.
