July 2024 This is a survey for The Ackerly in Sherwood, OR. Upon a scale of 0 – 5, with 5 being the highest, they rate a 5. The following reasons stated below. My wife was admitted to their memory care unit, “OPAL.” The beginning discussions with the administration went exceedly well with them describing in detail the entry process, costs, and a detail tour meeting many of the staff. It was totally open. Of particular interest is that my wife has a very restrictive diet; we were introduced to the kitchen staff ensuring that her needs would be met. She was personally interviewed by a nurse prior to entry. Upon entry, we were met at the entrance by several of the staff. They reassured her that her needs would be met. It was a nice reassurance. After a month in OPAL, I can assure you that all that was stated at the beginning has been met if not exceeded. There are many planned activities to keep the residents engaged plus excellent well trained support staff. The Ackerly – Sherwood is highly recommended.

Ackerly at Sherwood facility is beautiful and the layout is wonderful. The staff is completely awesome and the dining room has excellent food for everyone. My mom is in a one-bedroom apartment, a little over 500 square feet, so she has a separate bedroom, a big bathroom, a nice full kitchen, and a nice living room. They have a full-service gym where they can get physical therapy if they need it. They have all kinds of games too. They have a bistro, which is a bar, and they can have lunch there or go to the dining room if they want to. They do outings too but my mom has only been there for a night, so I don't know a whole lot about it yet. I just know when we did our tour that there were just tons of activities for her to choose from. She's in their assisted living.

My brother moved into The Ackerly at Sherwood about a week and a half ago. It couldn't be better. Dave was the sales rep. He was very accommodating. We went and visited several times, had lunches there, and the food was great. It's the newest of the communities that we visited and checked out. They were the only apartments that offered washers and dryers in the unit itself. They have central air conditioning, so you get to select and set your air conditioning temperatures. Great place. I think it's only about two years old, so everything is new, everything was highly computerized and they offer a lot of resources that most of the others didn't have altogether, and that's the main reason we chose it, was the fact that it seemed to offer everything for a reasonable price. A little bit higher than I would have liked, but they also had some promotional deals going that brought the cost down to where it was affordable, and so we went for it. Right now, he's with independent living care. The one nice thing about the Ackerly is if you decide to switch to a full assisted living, you can stay in your existing apartment. There's no moving around to a different wing or a different level in the facility. It is licensed for both assisted living and memory care, as well as independent living. They have medical staff on hand 24/7, which you can access if you need anything, even though you may be living independently. It's kind of the best of all worlds. Everybody's friendly, everybody's knowledgeable. Everybody's right there. They take people out for shopping as well as medical things, but they also do two excursions a week just for the fun stuff. They go to all sorts of places and everything. That was one of the things that kind of impressed me. They take some fun drives out into the country just to get people out and about. They have a physical therapist on staff. They have a workout room that would rival any gym that I've seen, like L.A. Fitness or Planet Fitness type of thing. It's a real workout room separate from all the other facilities. It wasn't just a little nook off to the side with a treadmill or anything like that. They had all the various machines, weight-room equipment. They have a personal trainer there as well as a physical therapist. They had a movie theater that had a dropdown screen that projects under the full wall of the theater. So very nice, extremely nice facility.

I've lived here since the day it opened on July 1, 2019. Having my own washer dryer, full kitchen is very important to me. The staff is wonderful! What I really want to say is that with this Virus epidemic , they have been ahead of other facilities around us. From the very first they started following ALL the guidelines and have been very supportive of every resident in keeping moral up. Its the place to be and I am thankful that, The Ackerly at Sherwood, was our choice of a retirement home. The Ackerly is our home and new family.

My parents are at The Ackerly at Sherwood. It's been really nice. We've been there enough that they kind of know us by name now especially people at the front desk when you check in. The food is good, too. We go and have meals with them once or twice a week. Their apartment is nice. They have a 2-bedroom 2-bath. The care mom is getting seems good, and she seems to be thriving there. It's more social. It's a new facility, and they're the first ones in their apartment. It's got a full kitchen and some snack items or breakfast items and a full size refrigerator. They seem to be doing well there, and they both like it. They have a chef and it's like eating in a restaurant. The prices of the food are reasonable for family, and I've had something different every time and I've never been disappointed. They have a healthy food variety. The staff is very helpful in anything that we needed. You think you're in a hotel when you walk in. They have great activities, and it's a good value for the money.
