I found a place for my mom and it's River Terrace Memory Care. She has been there for over a month now. It's brand new. I love that the owner-administrator is on-site, unlike all the big other ones that don't. By having him onsite and overseeing what happens on a day-to-day basis, issues are dealt with immediately if there are any issues. It's huge. It's beautifully clean, and the people are amazing. The staff members are caring and attentive. The food is excellent, too. They have activities all day long if they want to participate.

I toured River Terrace Memory Care. It was a beautiful facility, and they were working hard to make it look good and feel comfortable. Everything looks wonderfully clean. They have a lot of places for people to go and get involved in things. I really like that. It seemed more social. I said hello to some of the residents as I passed by, and they all looked like they were happy to be there. They showed me lots of different parts of the facility and different kinds of rooms, and I thought they were well prepared to have me there. I toured with the manager, and she was very friendly to me and friendly to the residents. I was pretty impressed.

My dad has been in River Terrace Memory Care for two weeks now. The physical appearance is quite nice. It's only three years old. There are like 32 beds in the place, so it's fairly small, quiet, and quaint. It has a nice little outside yard for them to go out and sit or to walk around. They have another area where you can go outside. They do gardening where they can do flowers or plants. They have like umbrellas and stuff so that they could sit out there. The middle of the place is where everybody would meet. They eat there, they do activities there, and they go watch TV there. It's a nice place. The staff has been very cordial, very nice, and very understanding. That was another thing that made me feel comfortable with meeting the staff and the people that work there. They're not perfect and no one's perfect, but they're pretty good. I've only eaten once there with my dad, and it was soup and a sandwich for dinner. It's not fantastic, it's not super, super good, but it's healthy and it gives them the nutrition that they need. I have observed some activities. They were working with people whose mobility was limited. They're working with a ball and trying to throw it into a net to get the motion going. They do memory care exercises with them. They're very engaged with working with their memory. They take them out on some outings, and they play games.
