I took my mom with me to visit Avamere at Waterford. We've been there a few times, because we knew someone who lived there. First of all, one of their elevators has been broken down for an extended period of time, which makes it difficult for residents. I think they try to accommodate that, but I just don't know that they physically can man that. I know it's been broken down for at least a few months, and to my understanding it's going to be for quite a bit longer, so that's concerning to me. They don't have any outside patio. They allow pets but they just don't have that outside patio, and that's probably the one thing that would just turn us away from it, but it has a really nice swimming pool and fitness program in that pool. The one-bedroom was nice and roomy and definitely had the walk-in shower with no lip to step over.

I went to Avamere at Waterford. That was where I was going to go, but they denied me due to me being a medical problem for them, even though I was trying for independent living. They were foreseeing a future where they might have to take care of me, and they didn't want to. However, I like the staff, the caregivers, the director, the assistant director, and the front desk. Most of the staff are very friendly and very nice. My best friend gets treated very well over there. They're very caring from what I can see what my best friend is getting here. The food I've tried is good, but I've seen some of the stuff my friend eats, and it doesn't look that appetizing. They have a very loaded activity calendar, and they have a pool and two little gyms, and that's really good amenities to have.

Staff is not skilled to handle assisted living. Promises were made stating the resident would be taken down to the cafeteria for meals, showers would be given 3 times a week, they would make sure she was included in activities. All lies! They were selling a load of BS just to get the room filled. There were multiple times the resident was found unresponsive. Multiple trips to the ER needed. The final trip to the ER the hospital kept her and didn’t let her go back. When asking status of the resident we would get a report back 1, 2 days later or no response at all. The quality of life received from this facility was extremely disappointing. Do not recommend this location.

My dad is in Avamere - Three Fountains and everything is good, so far. I give the staff, room, everything two thumbs up. He seems to be happy. I go there every night to see him, and he seems pretty pleased. He doesn’t have anything bad to say about them. The staff is professional because if there are issues or anything like that, they call me like I asked them to.

I was able to visit Three Fountains. It was OK, but it wasn’t very homelike; it was more institutional. The health area seemed more like a hotel than a home. The staff was very helpful. They have a game room and large dining area. One thing I can say is that they probably have to remodel their apartments.

Avamere was a beautiful place. I really, really like that place. I was going to put my mom there if she moved here. The rooms are beautiful. I loved the feel of the place. The prices didn't seem too bad, though. I'd say moderate price. I met the guy who runs the place and the girl who was showing me around. The rooms were just so spacious. I love the rooms, the storage, and the homey feeling of the rooms. Very cozy place; I felt good. They have their own indoor pool. Some of the other assisted livings around the area bring their clients to Avamere's pool, so it's open to other people, not just the people that live there. It was really nice because my mom likes to swim. They were doing Wii bowling; they were laughing, having fun and a good time.

My dad was in the Avamere. They were right next to a hospital and their environment was okay. They had a center patio and raised garden beds. My husband and I did the raised garden beds for them, so we were there everyday and we also helped with Bingo. They had a balloon toss, and somebody comes in once a week to sing for them. The food was pretty good and if you didn't like something, they'd make you another sandwich. What I liked best about it were probably the people that worked with and helped my Dad.

Overall I was very impressed with the staff and facilities! My mother was at the facility for physical therapy following a fall, and I worked with several therapists all of which were very kind and caring. The facility was clan and well staffed at all times. I spent most of my time in the therapy areas of the building, but did come in to contact with other staff who were also very polite and friendly. The outside of the building is very clean and looks more like a condo development them a nursing facility. The inside is very well kept and clean. The pool area where my mother did her therapy had the appearance of a health club, which I understand is also operated in the building. I would not hesitate to use the facility for either of my parents care in the future, and would happily recommend it to friends or family as well.
