My uncle has moved into Cascades of Grants Pass. The staff seem very knowledgeable. They are all nice. It is a nice clean place. They also were available. We had to get him into a home as soon as possible after he left the hospital. I talked to them before, so it just kind of went that way. His room is smaller than where he was before, but it is nice. He has a window. They have a dining and living area with television and stuff. It seems really nice. It is all on the lower floor. He's not upstairs or anything, like he was at his other place. He shares a restroom with one other person, but the room is private. I did not taste their food, but I did see several of their meals. They looked very healthy, very delicious, and very well set up. The dining area is nice. There are different neighborhoods (as they call them), and so not everybody dines together. Each neighborhood has their own dining area. The folks that live in that one section dine together. It is close to their rooms, so they don't have to go a long way. I think that is nice. The atmosphere is pleasant. Everybody seemed in a good mood and smiling. Everything was very tidy and clean. The staff all seemed to be in good moods and very helpful. They have different activities for them. Each day they have the activities listed on a monthly calendar. They do different things with them. My uncle was a preacher for years, so he had a little Bible study he did at his other home. They are going to help him if he wants to start that here. They have television, and they have crafts sometimes. The first day my uncle was there, it was ugly sweater day. They all were wearing their ugly sweaters, and they had a little contest.

My cousin will be moving into the Cascades of Grants Pass. I have always liked the facility. The tour was great. It was just a great experience, so that's where my cousin wanted to go, and that's where she wanted to move in. The place was clean and beautiful. The apartment was nice, just a really good feeling about it. We toured a couple of other ones, and we selected Cascade. It is just the nicest. Friendly staff and everything. I have nothing bad to say about that place. We had lunch there and the food was good. It's 24-hours, you can go down into the dining room and get something to eat if you want. They serve the regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but you can go in at any time to get coffee or food or whatever. There is a beauty salon in the independent living, and you can use it, too. They have beautiful grounds. It's lovely to sit outside. From the window of the apartment that they showed us there was a beautiful view of the mountains. It's just a lovely facility. It's an excellent place. I highly recommend it.

We went to Cascades of Grants Pass and we looked at the suite. We basically kind of walked through. We didn't observe activities. The people were friendly enough, but it was nowhere near the same level that we found at the other place. The room was nice, but Mom would have had to share a bathroom. My mother doesn't share bathrooms real well, so that was going to be kind of a negative for her. They had a little bit more flexibility with their meals, so they kind of served at some general times. If you miss a meal, you can go in and order a sandwich or order something from their menu, which I appreciated. If my mom slept in late and missed breakfast, she would still be able to go into the eating area and order something to eat. It wasn't a bad place. When I initially looked at it, I thought it was OK, but when we saw the other place, that was it. We did go in and talk to the director of that memory care and her office was such a mess and it was so disorganized and distracting. It was a little difficult for me to understand how somebody could have that messy and disorganized office and then run a home efficiently. That kind of spoke to me and I was not comfortable. My mother is an absolute neatnik, and it would have probably driven her crazy to walk into the director's office. When you're inviting prospective residents into your office and there's kind of chaos everywhere, it wouldn't bother some people, but this isn't going to work for us. Tara gave me the tour and she did a beautiful job and she followed up. I liked her a lot. I just was not impressed with the director. Tara was very helpful and very nice.

We have selected two places and one of them is the Cascades of Grants Pass. The employees looked very professional. The CNAs and people working in the building were dressed professionally, and that wasn't necessarily a suit or tie, but the scrubs were clean and uniformed, and people didn't have a ton of tattoos or piercings showing. I know that sounds terrible, but when you're dealing with people in their 80s, they have a preference. The rooms were generally very well kept up and clean. The campus is very large with very well-maintained walking paths. I thought the food was fine, maybe just a little bit institutional. I thought the apartments were a good size, but the only thing is none of them on the campus have a full kitchen. They only have a kitchenette, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink.

My mother is at Cascades of Grants Pass. She is doing great there. She's an active senior, so it's a good community for her. It allows her to get out and do things with friends without having to drive. She's made lots of new friends there and she likes it. The food is very good. There are activities every weekend. She participates in a wide variety of them. They'll go out to dinner or a play or a movie. They have options to go shopping every week. She's done all of those things.

We chose the Cascades of Grants Pass. We went to see it and we were very impressed. I liked the friendliness of the people there and just the feeling of the place. It was very quiet. It's very well decorated and the rooms were big enough for our furniture, which we were worried about. We thought maybe the rooms will be too tiny. It was close to different things that you might want to go to. The kitchen is not very big. They have a hair salon, a library, a hairdresser, and things like that.

Cascades of Grants Pass appears to be an excellent place, and I wouldn't mind staying there. We got a tour and discussed the situation. It has wide open spaces. There are a lot of nice areas to sit in and eat at the good looking cafeteria or lunch area. Everything was bright and cheery and excellently maintained. There were friendly people. I talked briefly with the activities director. They're continually planning events, social hours, and movies. Depending on your capability, they had the pool table and libary. They had pretty much everything a person wanted.

My friend is in Cascades of Grants Pass (Formerly Brookdale Grants Pass Village). I am not real impressed with the place. It's a beautiful facility. It's just not the right place for her. It's clean, it's beautiful, the food is good, but she needs more one-on-one care that she doesn't get there. The place itself is great. She has dementia, but she's not quite that enough to go into their dementia facility. They said they only put people in there that are a flight risk, but she's bad enough to where when she goes down to eat, she always chooses dessert. They keep saying they can't force her to do things. They give you a menu and you could choose, which is great for most people, but she chooses dessert. I've asked them about it a couple of times and nothing has been done about it. When she got there, she was in a wheelchair, so they just assumed that she couldn't walk. She hates it there. They have a lot of activities. It's very expensive. They're charging $1000 for the extra care that she needs, but she's not getting it.

We are choosing Brookdale Grants Pass Springs because of the friendliness of the place. The people were very accommodating, and the place was nice, clean, and tidy. The price was within our range. All the residents were very nice and friendly. The food looked like it would be just fine.

Brookdale Grants Pass Springs is centrally located near shopping area and the school. The community itself is beautiful. The lawn is cared for daily and the grounds are beautiful. Their rooms are very small, but very nice. The food is wonderful. The staff members are very caring and very friendly.

Brookdale Grants Pass Cottages was really nice, but Dad didn’t like the area so much. It was open, friendly, and clean. There was a lot of respect for the people living there. There was a man that had fallen when we were leaving, and everybody was running out to help him -- all the grounds crew and the staff inside the building. Then an ambulance was called, and there was a lot of attention given to him. I knew that if my dad fell, somebody would help him. The location was close to the hospital, and they had a bus that goes there. It had bus trips going to places, too.

I have visited here with my husband twice, once when it was Emeritus and once as Brookdale. The difference was night and day. We had put a deposit down when it was Emeritus, but we had not sold our home yet. Then it changed to Brookdale, so we went back to see what the changes were. We were shocked. The quality and presentation of the food was terrible. The help was half what it had been before. We asked for our deposit back. It took several months, multiple phone calls and 3 visits to get it back. This is not a place I would recommend.

I liked Brookdale Grants Pass Village (formerly Emeritus at The Springs Senior Living Campus) very much. They had a continual set of activities going all the time. There were a lot of people there. They had a dynamic situation at dinner all the time, and there's always somebody to eat with. They had five or six different rooms for every choice. They had big rooms, expanded rooms, and little houses -- which I wasn't interested in because I want to be where the action is -- but they were nice too. You can even get a garage if you wanted one, but the roads getting to it were not very fancy.

My parents moved into Brookdale Grants Pass Village. It's a 3-level care community. So far it has been very relatively positive and easy process for them. They are in a 2-bedroom cottage. My stepdad likes the environment and the way it feels. The facility was very clean and they are offered three meals a day. In case their needs change, they can just be attended right there.

Brookdale Grants Pass Cottages (Formerly Emeritus at The Springs Senior Living) was a larger facility with a wider variety of offerings from cottages for very independent living to assisted living and memory care. It seemed like a very modern and well-appointed place, but the scale of it was large, like a big hotel. It does have common areas and a big dining room that's like a restaurant. I've walked in there without an appointment and looked around, and they contacted me several times afterwards. I spoke to three people in quick succession just inside the door, and they invited me to make an appointment and to have lunch.

Emeritus at Spring Cottages was very nice. It was not a very old facility, and they had a nice outdoor patio. They put people with dogs on the first floor, so that it was easier to get out. They have other levels of care as they are needed, and they have everything from cottages to single room units. All of the facilities, whether it was a cottage or not, had the availability of three meals a day, some housekeeping assistance, and then if you needed more care, they can move you up in a level to where that is available to. It was a very large campus, it was a good sized facility, you have a lot of people close by, and the feeling was that it was quite secure. My only hesitancy about moving there is the cost, and that is my biggest problem at this time. They had a number of activities available, and all I can recall now is that I was perfectly impressed with that.
