My husband moved to The Villages at Southern Hills. It's old, but it's clean. The people are friendly. The staff was good to him. He knows all their names. He's having physical therapy and speech therapy. They showed them movies. There are not many selections. They only get a selection between two different items on their meals, but it is well prepared. It's fresh. It's well-seasoned. My husband likes it.

My mother-in-law stayed at The Villages at Southern Hills for two weeks. The room was clean, but it was not homey. It looked and felt like a hotel room. I didn't interact with the staff too much. My spouse took care of almost everything. But the staff is fine. They were nice and helpful.

The rooms at The Villages at Southern Hills were nice. I just didn't like the administration. I went and toured it first and then took my mother to tour it. Then the director went to evaluate her and assess her. She was dozing off to sleep, and I found that she hadn't slept at all the night before. The director said I could bring her back another day and when I tried to do that, she said no and that her nurse would get the assessment the next day and they would call me, but they never called. I called three times and left a voicemail for her and she never replied. I went there twice to find anything out, but she wasn't approved. It seemed like a nice place. The rooms were nice and pretty spacious. The overall look of the facility was good. They had a theater for movie night. They played bingo. They had a nice cafeteria and a beauty shop. They just need to improve their professionalism and how the administration treated me.

My mom was at The Villages at Southern Hills. The food was better there. The upkeep of the facilities was a little better, too. However, I didn't feel like she got better care. They were professional, but they didn't particularly establish any relationships. Where she is now, they treat her like she's part of the family. They are like caring for a family member, and there's a difference there. The therapies my mom received were excellent. The room was nice. It was a nice double-occupancy room. It was a little more difficult for her to come in right from surgery having a roommate, but that's not the room's fault or the facility's fault. She had heart surgery, and her roommate wasn't the quietest person she could be. The roommate liked to have the television on very loud all the time, day and night. My mom did activities there. She's a real people person, so she's seeking that out right away. There was a Bible study. Food was exceptional. The staff members were professional and nice, but it wasn't as warm and personable. For many of them, it was a job. The facility itself was clean. The furniture was newer and well-maintained. We were very happy with them, and I would have been very happy to have my mom stay there when she needed long-term care, but they did not have any Medicare beds. I have a very close friend that was in and out of The Villages at Southern Hills three times in the last three years and had a very positive experience every time. In fact, that's part of why we asked to go there after my mother had heart surgery.

My mother was at The Villages at Southern Hills. The long-term care side was terrible. We cleaned her room at the long-term care after she passed because they lost her wheelchair and one of her hearing aids, and they have not responded to us at all about how to replace those. When my mom was feeling sick, I asked them to get us to see the doctor that's on staff and figure out what was going wrong with her, and they just said, "Oh, she just has an upset stomach. We'll just give her a nausea pill or Tylenol." She ended up going into the hospital with a UTI, a kidney stone, and sepsis. I had to force them to call 911 and get her to the hospital. It was like pulling teeth to get them to do that. That's when she died and part of the reason she died was because of neuromuscular failure, which is put on by sepsis (the infection of the blood). We're not very happy with them. When I was cleaning the place, I moved all the furniture, and there was an 11-month-old newsletter found underneath a dresser with mouse poo all over it. They did not clean anything. For the week that she was in the hospital, all they did was make her bed. They left all her clothes dirty with urine protection pads on her bed. They never cleaned it. She had forks and knives just laying around the place. They never cleaned anything for that week and still charged us. The food was terrible. It was worse than a high school cafeteria. My mom had allergies and lactose intolerance, and they did nothing about that. Their assisted living program is run by totally different people, and the assisted living side is great. Do not put anybody in the long-term care/skilled nursing side.

My mother was living in The Villages at Southern Hills when she got sick, and they allowed her to return to her own apartment there. We've done three convalescences there and we were happy with the place, that's why we went back. The staff that we deal with there is extraordinary and we're very pleased with them, but we don't quite feel quite the same way with the kitchen. She's in her own apartment and they allowed us to provide her 24-hour care for her there. After we did her rehab there, we were impressed enough with them. And that's when we moved out of the house and moved her into an apartment in their independent living section. We've been in their rehab twice, we've been in their skilled nursing once, and we're now back in our apartment. So we feel like we live there. They've been very generous to us. The reason for my rating would be the food and definitely not the staff. The nursing staff, housekeeping staff, those folks are wonderful to us and wonderful to her. The food is just not extraordinary. So the staff taking care of her I'd give a 5, but the kitchen I'd give a 3. They have activities and the facade of the place is very fine; it's lovely.

My husband stayed at The Villages at Southern Hills. I don't have a lot of positives to say; it was not a good experience. The staff was not very kind; they were kind of rude. They did not understand his condition and what his abilities were. He would have to wait thirty minutes to an hour for someone to come and check on him after he had used the call light. He ran out of clean clothes. Their washer broke, and they did not do anything to ensure that he had clean clothes. He couldn't even take a shower because he had nothing to put on. They did not notify us of the trouble that they were having at their facility. His food was almost always cold whenever they brought it to him. He had some kind of rude staff members taking care of him. The facility itself looks really nice. It looks like a really nice, beautiful place on the Internet. When we looked at the pictures, we were like, "Wow, this is going to be a great experience!" but it was not. They need to improve on patient-response time. On one of the first days that he was there, he listened to a lady who had fallen on the floor and had screamed for help for hours. They did not find her until the next morning. It was a really sad deal. He had called and told me that somebody was needing help, and I had called the facility. But it still took them hours to go and check on this person who was screaming for help. I would just say their staff needs to have better care and faster response times. Their food needs to be warm, like kept on a warm plate. When there are problems with things such as the washing machine, they need to get that fixed; they shouldn't let somebody run out of clothes. He had two weeks' worth of clothes and they assured me, saying, "You don't need to come and get him. We won't allow that. We have to wash them and they won't sit overnight. He'll have plenty of clothes." The service was just not good.

Beautiful building, but the room that my mother stayed in belonged in a broken down Motel 6! There were so many things wrong with the room she was in, but main issue was no air conditioning! On her last day there she had a cardiac issue and no nurses answered the call or the cries for help from the roommate. Finally an administrator heard and came to the room and called 911. When we contacted the facility to find out what had happened, they stated they would look into why there were no nurses around. Also asked about why there was no air conditioning in her room and they stated that the room she had been placed into was actually supposed to have been listed as out of order due to the fact that they knew the air was out. Another issue that I had was when we came to pick up our mothers stuff there wasn’t anyone at the front desk. We were able to walk in, get all of her belongings, and walk out without ever seeing anyone. I would not recommend allowing your worse enemy to stay there!

Mark this facility off your list. The rooms are okay. Staff members are cold. There are no activities especially since COVID.

My mother was in the Villages twice for rehab and my husband was there once for rehab. Excellent care, cooperative and helpful people, great food, lovely rooms. Keep in mind that most people only write a review if they're mad about something, so don't take their word for it. It's a five-star facility! The Villages is highly recommended by doctors, almost all residents, and my family. My mom is starting her third stay today, and she wouldn't go back if it wasn't awesome.

Staff is great. Admin not so much. The hospital from whence I came discharged me and the doctor has released me. But the Villages will not let me check out without encountering a large fee for release before approved? Approved by who? I was to talk with a social worker a few days ago but it was a no-show. I really hate to go the legal avenue to obtain my release. My lawyer has bigger fish to fry but it may come to that. I guess I'm just an old lady (68) who has above average resources......(wink, wink). If you hear sizzling......I'm winning!

My father went to skillled nursing for rehab after a fall in Feb, 2020. Staff was attentive and helpful during admission process. After that, communication was almost non-existent. Facility was locked down due to Covid, we had no way to check on him or how he was being treated. Lee, Social Workers, Director of Nursing did not address our concerns. He contracted the virus but they didn't notify us, I just happened to call and check on him. Dr. Zandi couldn't be bothered to call us. My father died April 26. Alone. We never got to say goodbye.

My father was transferred to this facility for short term rehabilitation. He left the hospital in good spirits and his health was very stable. Upon arrival we were treated as if we had pissed someone off. The nurse aid (nice neck tattoo) was extremely rude and was only interested in sitting in a chair in the hallway and texting on her phone. The nurse call button goes unanswered. It took over two hours on one occasion. Medicine is not given on time and sometimes not at all. My father was on a special diet and he was given regular food three times in a weeks period. Within the week he was infected and had pneumonia. When I told them I was moving him to another facility they told me I couldn’t and it would take a doctor’s order and several days. Needless to say I told them to go to hell and I moved him to another facility that same day. Within two weeks at the new facility he was happy and healthy. Within a month he went home and is still home. I am positive he would have died in this place. PLEASE don’t send a loved one there! They only care about the Medicare checks.

The care the Villages provides at their skilled nursing unit was pathetic. My Dad was in the hospital with pneumonia and a kidney infection... and left the hospital healthier than he left The Villages. There were some days when the only care he received were meal delivery and medication distribution. He was supposed to be receiving 1 hour of therapy a day and that did not happen...however, they did not hesitate to bill for the therapy that did not occur. The majority of the staff was rude and lazy and the food was horrible and usually served cold. Do not use The Villages!

The skilled nursing area needs LOTS OF HELP in every area. There are very few if any menu choices at meal time; the nursing station does not answer the phone when someone calls to ask about a friend or relative; call buttons from patients go unanswered for close to an hour; many staff members appear concerned, while others are totally disinterested in assisting or helping patients. If you have a choice please look elsewhere for the well being and safety of your friends and relatives.

Good except on weekends - they are like all nursing facilities who although unplanned - end up short staffed leading to long wait times to get a response when the nurses light is turned on - often 30 to 60 minutes. The process for follow through - such as forwarding medical records to other doctors is never followed through. Follow up is always required and don’t be surprised if multiple reminders are seemingly mysteriously lost. Delays in receiving medication after it is prescribed are often 36-48 hours. Rooms are very nice - food is good - interaction with administration is positive from the standpoint of wanting to do the right thing - but the squeaky wheel gets the attention which can be both stressful and tiring Great rehab - nice dining rooms - entertainment area for various activities. Piano available - places to sit outside. Bright and cheerful over all they are the best of skilled nursing facilities -who as a whole don’t have a positive reputation

I visited 7 facilities and ended up here with my mom, who required skilled nursing and physical therapy after a long illness. The place looks nice enough, although the furnishings and wall paint were a bit shabby on closer inspection. My first 2 choices were not available, so I had to choose quickly. The doctor who “cares for” patients at The Villages is reason enough NOT to entrust the care of your loved one here. He was defensive, unprofessional, and tried to justify his failure to address a medical issue with my mom by saying to me that the hospital she’d just come from had not addressed it either. Any medical doctor who blames others for their lack of interest in actually helping a patient improve needs to be shown the door! Mom went downhill during the 14 days at this facility and had to be taken to the ER, where it turns out she had sepsis. The nurses were lackluster, rude and inattentive, and we timed them at an hour on 2 occasions to answer a call button. Their reason was always that they were “short-staffed”. They “forgot” to order a lunch for mom and she wasn’t fed one day until 3pm. I could go on, but will say this is not a place I would recommend to anyone due to the multiple red flags, instances of dropping the ball and management that entrusts the care of a mainly elderly population with a doctor who did not listen to our concerns, did not speak to my mother like an adult or even like she was involved, or take seriously the complicated health history relevant to my mom’s care. It is a shame that families are at the mercy of places like this due to lack of information and the tight timeframe often involved in finding the right type of care for a loved one. It felt like this facility was ticking off the 20 days they knew Medicare was paying for, while providing the absolute minimum care and concern. The one very good thing about this place was the physical therapy staff and the concierge. They seemed to care about mom’; her comfort and her progress to get stronger. I would rate the physical therapy staff and concierge a 4 star...everyone else 1 Star for demonstrating minimal concern about my mom’s well being and progress.

The Villages at Southern Hills has a staff that truly cares for the patients. The staff worked with my sister, Rita D's doctor to identify and resolve post surgical complications. The administration worked with me to resolve medical insurance issues. I highly recommend The Villages at Southern Hills to anyone in the Tulsa, OK area. Everything about the facility is outstanding.

My great grandmother was admitted on a Tuesday around 5 pm. The nurse at the time was very rude to me when I arrived at 6 pm or so and questioned an order for her oxygen. As I was questioning her about the order she walked out of the room in the middle of my question. They do 12-hour shifts so the night nurse came on shift at 7 pm that night. I stayed until after 8 pm. The night nurse never came in the room. I couldn't find the nurse so I just left. As a skilled nurse myself, I know that you're supposed to assess your patients at every shift change. Being that my great grandmother was new to the facility and a somewhat high acuity patient, it is absolutely ABSURD that she was not checked on until over one hour after shift change. I go home and around 10 pm I get a call, they sent her out to the ER for "oxygen perfusion issues". So I called this nurse and asked him what happened. He said he sent her out because her sats were low. I asked if he increased her oxygen. His response was "no we have to have an order for that". I can assure you that any physician is going to want you to increase the patient's oxygen if they are desatting. I then asked about her cognition. He said she was taking and even swallowed pills. So I go to the hospital that she was admitted to and found out that she actually coded at this nursing home. They couldn't revive her heart when she made it to the hospital. This nurse did not once mention she stopped breathing when EMSA had arrived. When I told him he never mentioned the fact that she coded he was "sorry I felt that way". When I voiced my complaints to the ADON, it was the same reaction. They weren't there so they (as in the administration) were sure the nurse did everything he could. It was non stop excuses and trying to cover themselves up. Not once did they apologize or assure that they were going to retrain or something. I felt completely disregarded. If you care about your loved ones avoid this facility at all costs.

DO NOT GO HERE! The place looks nice, but it is just a facade for the EXTREMELY POOR care you will receive. There were also a lot of bugs in the building (we never could figure out why). My mother was here in the fall of 2016 and after being there less than a week, we moved her to another skilled nursing place a couple miles down the road. Avoid if possible, and again, don't be fooled by the way the place looks.

Terrible. Wouldn't give him his meds he went 24 hours without his heart and high blood pressure meds. Left a tech on staff that had worked there two days. Bugs falling from ceiling. Left and will never go back

My mom fell and cracked her pelvis so we put her here for only one night. They didn't put her in a high risk fall bed and stuck her at the very end of the hall with two 9 month pregnant ladies as her nurses. That's not even fair to them. They would not be needing to try and help a high fall risk person themselves. Anyhow, she ended up falling the first night and hit her head and had to have 4 staples. They were going to "just watch" her until I demanded they take her to the hospital. Wouldn't recommend the skilled nursing to my enemy!

My mom was at this place for a couple of weeks. The staff was rude and uncaring. The nurses act like you are bothering them if you have questions, and they seemed to lack the knowledge necessary to take care of people that have a lot of health problems. One nurse I talked to thought my mom had a broken leg, but she was there for a totally different reason. The management here seems to care about their patients, but the day-to-day staff doesn't seem to want to be at their jobs. The facility itself is nice, but that isn't the most important thing when considering how your loved one will be cared for. When I discovered from a friend that I could transfer my mom to another facility, I did and certainly didn't regret it. We went to a place just down the road. Its facility was just as nice (if not nicer), and she is home doing GREAT now!

The Villages at Southern Hills was clean, well staffed, and easy to get around in. The staff seemed to be pretty good. They had a lot of activities for their residents. The food looked good. The dining room was nice and open.

I cannot express how poor the level of care is at this facility. I will keep it brief and share on of MANY incidents... My family has been requesting lab work info for weeks for my grandmother. Turns out she's had an infection for almost an entire week, and no one has taken any action to put her on antibiotics. In fact, they just reviewed the results which have been available for at least a week, and just now decided that they should transfer her to another facility. Unless you would like your loved one to receive poor care, avoid this place like the plague.

My husband has been in The Villages at Southern Hills for almost a year now. Everybody is very nice and friendly. I think they are all doing their jobs. He thinks the food is fine. They have a very nice dining room. It is a big facility, and he is in the assisted living part, but they also have skilled nursing and rehabilitation. They have a theater, so they have movies. They also have bingo and outings.

It has only been two weeks since my husband moved to The Villages at Southern Hills. It doesn't smell. It's out of the ordinary. The staff are lovely. People actually smile. Everybody seems very caring. As I left this afternoon in their main hall, they had a gentleman on the grand piano that was playing, which was quite lovely. I'm as content as I can possibly be.

My mom was sent here after a hospital stay for rehab to get strong enough to return to assisted living. Things went pretty well, except the dining and some of the aids. She had an incident happen while in physical therapy where her leg hurt and then went numb & cold. It was on a Saturday and the people there seemed unconcerned. They gave her a pain pill and called the Dr which never called back. The following week we had to take her to the hospital where she had a clot removed. The Dr at Villages told my sister that it couldn't be a clot, but that's exactly what it was.

We visited four, and one of them is the Villages at Southern Hill. That was very nice. I had the chance to meet the people working there, and we found them quite good. On the services and the facility itself, what we saw was good. They provide good physical therapy.

Another new community where the fresh paint hides the neglect. My very dear friend moved to nursing center there from another assisted living. She would hold her need to use the bathroom for an hour or longer waiting for help, then finally (at age 91) she would have to go and would lay in her own filth for hours. HORRIBLE! This was a very proud & "with it mentally" woman who just wanted to die after she moved in. Her roommate would do nothing by randomly scream and God bless her, I would check on her because no staff ever would. She would be literally SOAKED in urine. I would ask the nurse up front to check her Depend and advised them of her being thoroughly wet. An hour would go by, I'd go back to the nurses desk. Asked if they knew the health risks (UTI, kidney damage, bedsores, rash) and could please check her. LSS, after being with my friend for 3-4 hours and no staff ever coming in, I would say this is a good place to put your loved one if you'd like them to be ignored and neglected. It went this way each time I saw her for about 1 year.

The Villages at Southern Hills is very beautiful. The cleanliness and maintenance are superb. The activities are good, and my grandmother has good social interaction with other residents. The quality of care and the atmosphere are superb and excellent all the way around.

I also visited the Villages of Southern Hills. I considered looking at it because of its proximity to my home, and I heard good things about it. They had two different sizes of rooms. Had I put my mother there, I would have been interested in the larger room because it had a little bit more of a big home feel. The staff took me through the facility, and they were very helpful. The development director was very friendly and very thorough in describing the different levels of care they offered. I saw residents in the lobby area who were listening to an outside speaker, who seemed very good. They had exercise rooms for physical therapy. They had craft rooms. It was a larger facility and probably had more amenities than some of the others. They had private rooms where you could have family gatherings and bring in food from the outside. It was a very impressive facility, and it offered assisted living as well as nursing care.

My husband was at the Villages at Southern Hills before. In terms of amenities, the place was beautiful. It was fairly new and the rooms were nice. They had menus that they let the residents choose from, and the food was good. Sometimes I felt that the nursing care was not what I wanted it to be, especially the CNA care. They were not as responsive as I felt they should be. They need to improve on their patient care and the overall cleanliness of the rooms. The whole thing was not a wonderful or pleasant experience.
