The Staff are Wonderful! Caring, Patient, Kind & loving. My loved ones been here 2 years. She says she wishes she'd have come sooner. She was Very resistant to moving to an Assisted living Apt. She had a VERY different idea of what it would be. The activity calendar has really been full, especially since Jan. There's lots of different things to do. A wide Variety of all different sorts of interests/ activities.

I visited this facility

I toured Baptist Village of Broken Arrow. What I liked best about it was the friendly atmosphere. The patrons that were there came up to us left and right, and volunteered how much they love living there, and that was very spontaneous and genuine from them. What didn't fit for us was -- which was to be expected -- was how much spiritual education goes on during the week. It is fine. I'm not trying to knock or put it down in any way, shape, or form, but it's just not a good fit for my mother. So she would withdraw from that, and that's not what we need for her. We need activities that would pull her out. It was friendly and lovely. They offer Sunday School classes and church on Sunday and different worship studies, which you would expect in a Baptist Village Living Center, which for me are things that totally would fit their name and their description, but that is not a good fit for my mother's personality. The rooms were nice. They were arranged differently than most of the others. They're not quite as open, but they were accommodating. Compared to the other facilities, it is a much older facility, too. They are remodeling, but they're not remodeling the rooms. They're remodeling their common areas this month. But the rooms themselves are an older floorplan. They have like their living area in the front and then a small hallway back to the bedroom, which is OK. The bathroom is huge and very accommodating. It has a lot of space in it. The community was very clean, very nice, and the people were very friendly. What they do just didn't fit for my mom. That's more of a personality or more of a personal thing. They're keeping it up to date and they're trying to make sure all are accessible and working well for the people that live there, so they were in the process of doing that too.

The Apartments are very nice. There are 4 small neighborhoods so the feel is in style of a lovely private home, not a large facility. No long hallways or corridors. Outside of ea. Apt. is the living room, fireplace lounge, and dinning room for ea. neighborhood. Nice homey feel. There are larger common areas if you want to join in with games, activities, sing alongs, and much more. The staff is very caring and helpful. The environment is friendly and inviting. Great friendships are made & kept here. Living here is encouraging & loving. I hear often from residents here "I wish I would have moved in sooner". The food is VERY good.

I visited this facility

I have my dad on a list at Baptist Village of Broken Arrow and so we're just waiting for them to have an opening. I was looking for dementia care. They have only 10 patients, so that's why I liked it the most. All the other facilities had at least 18 or more. The environment was small and was more hands-on, which is what I was looking for. It was clean, and it was friendly. They provided more hands-on care because they are limited to 10 folks at a time, and I think that's much more doable. They have smaller numbers of memory care since they need more one-on-one. The staff are very friendly. They seem very open to my questions. They did a great interview. The room was a little bit larger. It had a built-in cabinet for my dad's hanging clothes. The bathroom was a little more accessible. It had a little more cabinet space. It had a locked cabinet that I could have a key to so that I could keep things in there, and I could access that when I needed to do things with him when I was there. The dining hall was almost immediately outside of his room, which made it easier for the staff to see. It was circular pretty much, and then all the rooms kind of surrounded it, which was nice. Right now, my father has to walk a good bit of length to get to the dining hall three times a day. He's still mobile, but he's very slow. And so I like that because they can visually see him go back and forth to his room when they're in the dining hall doing things. It's just a smaller environment. They dine together. But I'm not sure what the activities were because we didn't speak directly with the activity director. The day that I went, they were kind of on lockdown because of COVID. They have a whirlpool bath that is used by memory care people, which I like. It's a heated room, and it would be fabulous. My dad has got a lot of arthritis in his knees, so that was something else that I thought would be very, very helpful for him.

I visited this facility

Baptist Village of Broken Arrow only has about 20 beds. What we really liked about the facility was it was really open. Most of the facilities that we looked at were like motels where the hallways are long and they have handrails along the halls. My mom is in the position where it's kind of hard for her to walk, and Baptist has ten rooms on each side of the facility, so once she walks out of each room, it's all open. There are no long hallways for her to walk, each section has a common area with a couch and TV. They have their own dining area in that section too and it's basically all open. There are other parts of the facility that you can go to, they do have other common areas. They have a safe room, which we were interested in. It was just more of a home-type atmosphere. My mom toured the facility and felt like that, since everything was all open, she didn't have to walk very far to get to the lunchroom, and so on. It was just a better setup for her. We visited the assisted living but they do have another section on the other side which is their memory care. If my mom gets in the position where she needs to go into a nursing home type situation, she could just transition from assisted living over to memory care, which is basically like a nursing home also. It was very clean and the staff was very loving. Each section of the assisted part has its own nurse. Everybody was very personable, even the dining staff, and just basically everybody we met. They provided us lunch when we were there. Compared to where she's at right now, the food was wonderful.

My mother was in Baptist Village of Broken Arrow. They had exercises, a big TV, it was interactive, and they sang songs on Sundays. It was a lot nicer than the other place, and the food there was fantastic; it was a good place to eat. The staff was caring and good. They had therapy dogs come in once a week, they played dominoes, they had balloons, they had puzzles, and they had a craft almost every day. They sang a lot.

Baptist Village of Broken Arrow is very clean, a nice size, and doesn't have a lot of residents, so the ratio to the caregivers or the nurses is very good. The staff is providing everything we need, and they're wonderful. We really like them. They do music and games. The dining area is very nice, and it's just a few feet from Dad's room. I looked at a couple others in the area that were larger and had a lot more people, but this one has neighborhood or areas, and they only have 10 to 12 people with the nurse and the caregiver.

We really liked Baptist Village - Broken Arrow. It was a nice place, not quite as expensive as the others, and they have really good care. People looked neat, and the building was nice. They have a minister that stays there, and they have church services, Bible studies, and different things. They have activities for the residents. Their food is good, and the meals don’t cost very much. It was very nice and very clean, and the people were very pleasant.

Baptist Village of Broken Arrow had all of the right ingredients you want in a place, but their communication with the residents and their families was terrible. They often yelled at Alzheimer's patients, which is unnerving for all of us. My mom ended up hating it so much that she opted out. They did not do a good job at keeping the nurses informed about her medication. Mom stayed there for two months. Their accommodations were beautiful and laid out perfectly and intimately. The problem lied in the director, the nurses, and the personnel. It was such a bad experience. The food was always well done and the whole place was always very clean. It was just simply a group of task-oriented workers who were all about keeping the place clean but not caring about the residents. The person in charge of recreation did an excellent job. She was very involved with the residents, had good rapport with them, and had a nice variety of activities to offer.

My mom is in the memory care department of Baptist Village. It was very nice. Once we got back into the unit where the latch doors were, there was a disease-like odor, but I am just very sensitive to that since I'm a nurse. When you walk through the door and smell an odor, it is not pleasant. I know when you are back there all the time, it is not as apparent to you as when someone walks in off the street. It was around that time -- around 10:00 -- that they probably had just made their rounds and got everybody to bed and all that. When people are incontinent and you just throw their Depends in the trash, it tends to permeate the air. I don't know their disposal system, and I don’t know if somebody had just been incontinent there in the living area or know what the circumstances were, but they need to figure out how to remedy that because it was the first thing I noticed. Her room was nice. I was impressed with it, and she seems happy.

Beautiful Place. Wonderful areas to keep the patients. Rooms are in need of some work. Plumbing doesn't work always. TV situation is pitiful. You would need a degree to turn the TV on. These are Memory Care patients. They can't work the TV or Thermostat. Then there is the staff. Some are very, very good. They are few and far between. Most workers are there for the pay check and it's obvious they don't want to care of help you loved one in this facility. It is simply a cash cow for the baptist village organization. The care here is abysmal. Great place to visit, but don't leave your loved one here.

This facility may lead you to believe your loved-one will be taken care of as they gradually deteriorate from Memory Loss Dementia. We have had issue after issue with cleanliness of room, bathing of the patient, refusal to take medications, refusal to change clothes. The do not have staff to take care of your loved-one. Instead, they take the easy way out and chart that med was refused, or bath was refused, etc. The awful smell in our loved-ones bathroom was disgusting. When we asked staff about it, they stated that they were told to get out of room. So they haven't cleaned it in weeks, maybe months. When they decided they could no longer care for our loved-one, they gave us less than 12 hours to get her moved or they were kicking her out onto the curb. We were out of the country on a trip and had to make all arrangements via telephone and email. When we moved her things out of the "apartment" we were appalled at the filth in the room. For $6,000 to $7,000 a month don't expect them to care for your loved-one.

I found Baptist Village of Broken Arrow through the internet. I went through several facilities that we like but this one has everything that we were wanting. We could also bring family in because this one is closest to our house. I really like this place for my mom. It is clean, very well-kept and nice. They also have a big shelter room that if you have bad weather like tornadoes, they could bring people into that. They are very knowledgeable about everything. This is also a Christian-based community. There is just a lot that I like about this facility. I think the staff is excellent. They have a nice dining room that has long tables where everybody sat together. They didn't have assigned seating arrangements, instead they would just let them sit next to people that they go along with. I did try to eat there and the food is good. My mother loves the food. She thinks that everything that they have everyday is good. I think they really did well with their menus.

It is hard to put your parent into an assisted living facility, but the staff at Baptist Village made this transition for my mom much easier. My mother has dementia and I knew I had to get her some full time help. One visit to Baptist Village set my mind at ease. They have a wonderful staff. They treat the people there with kindness and do everything they can to make them feel good about being there. My mom has been there almost two years now and has madebthe transition remarkedly well. And, from all my visits, i know know i made the right choice. Great food, great staff, great place, great peace of mind for me.
