I stayed here for about 3 months in skilled nursing and about 5 months in long term care, which is provided in different houses. The staff and facilities are EXCELLENT. If I ever need permanent placement out of my home, this is where I want to go. They have private rooms with private bathrooms

What I liked the best about Avalon By Otterbein Perrysburg was its convenience to where I live. It was very easy to get over there and see my mom. However, for the money that I was paying (granted that this was in the middle of COVID and they had difficulty maintaining staff level) and for the services that she received, I didn't think they were equitable. I still credit the nurses and their care though. For the amount of people that they had and the amount of hours they had to work, they did the best with what they had. It's the process by which I was introduced. I kept missing the person-in-charge, so I didn't sign paperwork until after my mom was already there. I was never shown her individual room until she was already placed. It was like somebody dropped the ball on the whole administrative intake process. If I could give each of them a rating, I would give the nurses a 4 and a 3 for the administration. When it comes to the food, I was there every day, more than once (especially around her therapy time and when she ate), and I thought the food was kind of an afterthought. There was very little to eat or very little to choose from, especially on the weekends.

I visited Otterbein. Their setup was a little bit different. They had one community living area off of which were all of the bedrooms. The rooms were older. I didn’t feel like the staff I met were giving the appropriate attention to the residents.
