My mother was a resident and received amazing care during her time at Johnstown Pointe. Everyone was like family and showed so much love to my mom and family. I can't think of a better place to live out her final days. Thank you, Johnstown Pointe, keep up the great work!

I heard about Johnstown Point (JP) from a good friend and then at our monthly Senior Meeting, Tracy of Admissions for (JP) gave a very nice presentation. It was because of her I chose (JP) for my rehab. The grounds are immaculate and the facility clean and well maintained. I had re-constructive left knee replacement surgery and my experience at (JP) was amazing. It was not at all what I expected or what I have heard all my life. The Staff, Nurses, Nurses Aids, Technicians, LPN's, Kitchen Staff and House Keeping were all incredibly warm, friendly and caring people. The Staff took care of all my needs even the smallest request like a snack from the kitchen, a cookie or pretzels and always with a smile. Their greetings made me smile, "Hello Sunshine", "Hi Sweet Heart" and "Good Morning Beautiful". They lie with a smile but I didn't care. They are smart and dedicated and I wanted to say thank you for making my stay a pleasant and memorable one.

My mother was in for temporary care after a UTI. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance within 2 days because she was getting so bad. The ER doctor discovered that she wasn't getting medication that was prescribed to her yet they told him she received it. The toxicology report showed none in her system. This resulted in seizures and almost not making it.

I am staying at Johnstown Pointe, and it's pretty good. What I like best about it is my privacy. It's got 90 plus rooms, and I have a single bedroom. It has a bathroom and a walk-in shower with a bench seat. They have a cleaning crew here five days a week. They empty trash, sweep, and mop. The floors are wood, so it makes it pretty easy to clean up. Sometimes the food is very good, and sometimes I don't like it because I'm not fond of foreign types of dishes. Sometimes it's spicy for me, or they put too much breading on the chicken, and things like that. The staff members are pretty nice. They take care of you pretty well. They have regular nurses, and they monitor the blood sugar and things like that. They're very considerate and kind. They give you food regularly, and they're pretty timely. I think there are some things they could improve. But overall, it's a pretty good place because it is pretty clean. They did a good job during COVID. They had a good activities director. Every room has a TV. They could do better with their phone system.

All that glitters is not gold! While this facility is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing inside and out, the experience inside is far from golden. I am the adult child of a long-term care resident in this facility. There is a very high rate of staff turnover and staff that repeatedly No Calls/No Shows, which seems to create stress to the committed staff. Much of the staff are LPNs and not RNs, and there is a lot of drama amongst staff that is carried into the resident’s rooms and discussed openly with residents, creating a tense environment, and these items are just the tip of the iceberg. Residents are often lucky to get 1 cup of ice water per day and that is often after many requests. The food quality is very inconsistent and more often than not is unappealing and unpalatable, although after repeated complaints about this issue, they often rally for a period of time and there is great improvement before things slip back to normal. Many meals are not well-balanced and food is rarely hot. The dietary staff turnover is incredibly high. One night, all that was served for dinner was a cold cut sandwich and cup of milk, and family was told there was an issue again with staffing in dietary. Requests for consistent and timely administration of medications are disregarded. Administration is contentious and difficult to work with. The rooms and furnishings are beautiful, the facility smells good, there are a few dedicated and committed staff who go above and beyond, and there are ample activities that are enjoyed by residents; however, the serious issues mentioned above far outweigh the benefits.

My mother recently was in Johnstown Pointe for rehab. It's brand new, very nice, and very clean. My mom loved that the nurses treated her well, and it does have 4.5 or five star rating at this time. It's in Johnstown, right off the main drag right there on 62. It's not real big. I think it only has 50 or 60 rooms. She was supposed to be there for 20 days, but she actually was there for less, and she was doing a lot better. They sent her home because of the insurance that she's on. They did physical therapy with her. When she had gotten worse, she wasn't taking her insulin properly. She got very weak and was not able to walk around by herself. Once she got her insulin straightened out, along with the little bit of physical therapy there, they were able to get her to walk around with no cane or anything. They have a hair salon there. The meals were very good. She said, if anything, there was more food than she could eat. It was more homestyle food. It looked good. Most of it was chicken, turkey, meatloaf and gravy, you had your breads and everything with it, and your vegetables, so it was a well-balanced diet. Some of the people that I needed to talk to were hard to get a hold of at times. It was right around the Halloween, so they were doing some stuff with that. It's a very nice facility and they've got nice people, but they're limited on the amount of area they have there, because it's smaller. And as far as places to go, there are no really close malls. It's in the country, so for them to take somebody on a bus or something like that would be quite a distance for offsite activities.
