My uncle is in Gateway Springs Health Campus. You can tell that it's a fairly new facility. It's very well-kept and very clean. There's a lot of common areas for patients to hang out. It's in a place where it's very quiet. There's not a lot of other houses around and traffic. What I liked about it the best was he's in a semi-private room, but the way they have the room configured, you don't feel like you're actually in the room with the other person. When we've gone there to visit him, I don't feel like you're looking directly at the other person that he's sharing the room. They put a lot of thought into how they built the room. I haven't had a lot of interaction with the staff, but with what I have had, they've been excellent, very nice, and very responsive. You can go in anytime you want, which I like. You don't have to have an appointment. They have it secured with codes and things like that. They've been great. Any time we've ever gone, any time I've ever talked to anybody on the phone, they've been fantastic. When he gets a new roommate, they call me and they tell me, anything that's going on, and they give me proactive communication about anything that's happening. They've been really good. He hasn't participated in any of the activities yet. He's just been there a couple months, but there is always something happening to engage the people that live there. They go out of their way to get the residents out of their rooms. They don't make them do anything, but they will go in, "Hey, do you want to come out and eat dinner at the common area? Hey, do you want to come out and participate?" They make sure they try to get the residents to engage in things. They'd say, "We're going to take you to go get ice cream. We're going to take you to go to this park." They have dinners where families can come. Every month, they have a Sunday brunch and family members can come. Prior to him going to Gateway, my uncle was very malnourished and very thin. Since he's been there, he's gained 25 pounds, so the food must be pretty good because he's gained a lot of weight and he seems to be eating his three meals a day.
