What we were impressed with Wesley Glen Retirement Center was that the staff has been there for many years. We were told that one of the most important things is if your staff is happy, they're going to stay, and happy staff means happy clients. So that was one of the things that we were impressed with. It was well laid out. They had a lot of different activities if the person chose to do them. It wasn't fancy by any means, but it was clean. The residents all seemed to love it. The staff who toured us was wonderful. She sat and talked to us. We just connected well with her. We had some pie. We ate in the dining room, and we met the chef. The pie was delicious, and the dining room was very, very pretty. It's a nice location, very close to the shopping center. Graceland is close for people who have cars.

Wesley Glen Retirement Community is amazing, I have a brother there and he is doing great. But their rehab is a nightmare! First I want to say there are maybe 2 aides that have been good. I can't say that about the nurses especially the male nurse. My mother, age 102 and 2/3 years old, has been there for a couple of weeks now and if someone isn't there all the time she does not get the treatment she should. They are slow to respond to her call. They have tried to change her medication from every 4 hours to every 6 hours and she can only take tylenol for pain. One Nurse tried to make her go 9 hours without it, worried about her liver. Excuse me but at 102 yrs the liver is not the most important thing. Giving her relief from a broken clavicle is what is important! And meals for her are a challenge when we are not there for her. She only has use of one hand, her non dominant one, and other one was banged up pretty bad too and is weak. We have tried to be upbeat, thankful for the help and very nice to all the aides and nurses. They are surly and it is a challenge. Today was the last straw. My mother had to sit in her dirty pants for 45 minutes and my sister had to go down and demand help. 45 minutes for a 102 year old woman with delicate skin. There is no excuse for that! Not only can it cause skin problems but it does not help her ability to heal mentally. This is abusive! If these people don't like there job and can't give loving care to our elderly then it's time to move on. You don't treat people this way. When they do come into her room they treat her like it is a job to do and get out fast. There is no conversing, no letting them know that someone cares. Most of the surliness and lack of compassion or human warmth is coming from nurses and aides ; PT, OT and Activities staff have been professional and warm. My mother is so upset about her treatment that she cried, and tears do not come easy to her, she said this is hard. At one point she even asked if she could go back to the hospital where they treat her better. This is not what I expected from Wesley Glen and am sad that this is what is happening. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Wesley Glen Retirement Community was large. So, that was a little worrisome for me because my mom might not be able to find her way around, but once I was inside, I realized that the independent living was pretty separate. So, she wouldn't have that kind of problem. Everything was very well kept and appeared to be very, very clean. The apartments were nice size. Of course, you pay a little bit more for that size, and they also have a lot of activities. I also just liked the fact that it was connected to Worthington Christian Church, and I think there's a little bit more of a Christian atmosphere there.

My wife and I have both been pleased by the level of care and concern that we have found at Wesley Glen. The staff has been universally friendly and seem genuinely trying to make life there as pleasant as possible while taking care of all the details that are needed for good care.

Wesley Glen was very nice, clean, and had natural lighting. The staff was very caring. We couldn't afford it. They had exercises, music therapy, art therapy, and all kinds of activities.

I liked Wesley Glen. It’s close to my house and met our requirements. We moved my mother there because of their church affiliation and location.

We found Wesley Glen for my father. The hospital's social worker recommended it to us. The staff is very friendly and very caring. They communicated with us very well. The rooms are very warm and cozy. We are happy with that. The whole place seems clean. They offer a good variety of activities. They are fine, but my dad hasn't done much of them yet. Their security is very good. If there is one thing they could improve on, they could make the rooms a little bit bigger.

My aunt is living at Wesley Glen now and we were thinking about having my mom go there too. It covers all areas, which was one of the reasons why we kind of wanted to look at it because the one where she is going is just assisted living, so she wouldn't have to move. The staff was very, very nice and they were very friendly, and people were friendly there. I thought the place was very large, but it was dated. The apartments were very, very nice, and I would say they probably were more spacious, but the corridors were narrower and darker; it just wasn't uplifting or inviting as the one where my mother is going. They could do better lighting.

We visited Wesley Glen. It was very bright, and it was very clean. Everybody was very knowledgeable. We visited the rehab center, and the rooms were very nice. The dining area was very bright, with lots of windows to let the natural light in. We did try the food, and it was absolutely delicious.

Everything was excellent when we visited Wesley Glen. The staff was more than helpful. They have wonderful new health and wellness center. They have 3 levels of care: independent, assisted, and a medical rehab facility. The rooms were clean and would be redone when somebody moves out. There's a full kitchen in each apartment, a washer and dryer. The dining room looked like a first-class restaurant to me. One thing I liked about it was that all the meals are optional and the cost was very nominal. It looked like a comfortable home for my mother, and she agreed.

Wesley Glen is absolutely wonderful. Mom has been there since May and she's in independent plus. It has everything from independent, independent plus, assisted living to memory care. They have lots of services, hairdressers and nail salons right at the facility. The food is good and mom absolutely loves it. The independent plus works great.

I chose this place for my mother because it's close to me. We also got the most for our money with the health care that they provide. The facility itself has lots of equipment. They have lots of programs. One of the things that were really big that sold mom on Wesley Glen was that bridge was consistently available. The people and residents there are wonderful. We decided to stay rather than move. The food is great. My mother has a one bedroom apartment. She has a small living room and a little kitchenette. It has an attached little bedroom. She has a better closet space than the other places we visited. They're caring and accommodating. Sometimes she's bothered by the housekeeping because it's not perfect but it's good. Personally, I think the best thing about the place is the staff and the residents themselves. I would definitely recommend this place. I think it's the best. The only thing they should improve on is the housekeeping since my mom is a perfectionist. She had a housekeeper that she really liked. When she moved to a different part, they weren't able to arrange that she would have the same one that she really liked; that would be the thing that would almost make everything perfect.

Wesley Glen is a full service retirement center. My mother moved in thinking she would be in independent living, but clearly she needed assisted living. Wesley Glen went out of its way to accommodate her. The stored her furniture and personal possessions without charge, she was monitored very closely, and when she began to fail reacted quickly and appropriately. After a hospital stay, WG brought her back to their nursing facility and provided hospice care for the final days. What makes this service so special is that it all transpired within a month, from her admission to death. She was not a long-term client to whom WG had become attached. It made no difference. The only reason I do not give WG a 5 Star rating is because I came to feel that the mixing of "independent" and "assisted" clients together has a depressing impact upon those who are in poor health who must watch the heath be praised for their accomplishments and longevity.
