Very caring staff for my father who had hernia surgery. Admissions staff very thorough and got him in at the last minute for our family. The Social worker is very kind and kept us abreast of his ongoing care and when discharge may be so we could make the proper home arrangements. She also contacted his Homecare providers. The PT and OT staff were exceptional. Chris is an asset to the facility he literally does a little of everything. The food is just okay could be more variety and tastier.

It's a great place for rehab after surgery of a fall. My mom was there for rehab several times over the years and is now a long term resident. The long term care is better than average and only 3 miles from my home. I do have a lot of experience with long term care facilities. I've been in some that look like 4 star hotels but at the end of the day, it's all about the staff. Altercare of Canal Winchester seems to be able to get and hold onto good staff.

My mother is in her last few days on this earth. Staff doesn’t answer calls, only asks for water and ice and told no by nurses. Stna thows fits saying she doesn’t want to break her back assistanting residents. Doesnt bring meals to room or assist when she cant hold a cup to drink from. PLEASE consider putting your loved ones somewhere else.

The rooms were decent (probably the best part.) However, the facility was constantly understaffed, and when my friend was there, they would take HOURS to respond to requests for even the most important calls like severe pain, trauma, etc. The food was awful and when I tried to bring frozen dinners to serve by microwave, they lost it twice! There were few activities and they even neglected to add activities when offered for free! My friend was quite happy to leave to be in my care instead. Don't leave your loved ones here without watching them daily.

My father was at Altercare of Canal Winchester. The personnel was nice and the facility was good, but the physical therapist didn't record sufficiently and Medicare had my father leave before his minimum stay. He stayed less than 14 days unable to walk. The individual care was good, but the physical therapy service was less than expected. The staff was friendly; they were just short-staffed. The food was better than average. The layout was nice. They had other rooms for gathering, meals, and physiotherapy, and they all looked good. The building needed to be updated. The windows did not all function. I was only able to go in twice since they were on lockdown because of the Covid. The rooms were sufficient in size for one person, comfortable and minimalist, but it was OK. He was released early before he's even met any goals.

I would give this facility a 0 if I could. I regret placing a loved one here. The staff is not experienced in skilled care and has been rude. There has been issues with supplies, medications and with transportation to scheduled appointments. The meals are unacceptable for healing and nourishment. I have been a vocal advocate for my loved one and concerned for others that don’t have that. Please don’t place a loved one here

My father was here for rehab and a fractured collarbone. He developed pneumonia while there and I had to bring his coughing to the attention of the director of nursing just to get an xray done to confirm. He had swelling and redness on his arm and hand, they took an xray and couldnt determine the problem so they wrapped it with a ace bandage and gave him lasix. We had a doctor xray after he left and it was arthritis. Altercare didnt see that on their xray??!! Just before he was released an aid pulled him up out of the wheelchair pulling on his bad arm. So glad he is out of there. The therapists were great and a couple of the aids were good to my Dad. Everyone else there wouldnt even smile or speak to you when you passed them in the hall. Rooms were good but the food looked horrible!! Their so called Social worker is FAR from helpful. I had to hunt her down whenever I needed to find something out. I understand that good help is hard to find but thats no excuse for bad treatment.

Mom went to hospital with pneumonia and after leaving she needed after care and rehab. We chose this place because mom's friend just spent several weeks here. I use to listen to staff, unknowingly to them. They never were derogatory towards any patient, always seemed genuinely concerned. The place is clean, smells good. Not like some nursing homes. Anytime mom rings for assistance staff are quick to respond and never seem put out or agitated. I'm glad mom is here and hope she can be placed here permanently when the time comes.

My mother is in Altercare for rehab, and I like the place a lot. We chose it because I live in Winchester, and it's fairly new place. Everything's fine.

My husband had a toe amputation in May and I looked hard and long where to place him for rehab. A soon as I drove up to Altercare CW I knew it would be a good fit. As soon as I walked in I knew I was right. Everyone that works there that I had contact with was very helpful and caring. My husband had a private room with own bathroom that he loved and helped with his recovery. My husband looked forward to the rehab and took it twice a day. Unfortunately my husband ended up needing to have his leg removed and I immediately reached out to Altercare CW to see if they had room, and thank God they did! Leaving my husband under someone else's care is such a high concern, but when leaving your loved on at Altercare CW you will not have a concern because your loved one could not be in better hands.

My mom is in Altercare of Canal Winchester. They have excellent therapy. The staff is very helpful. They have separate rooms which is nice. Hers is just a room with two chairs, a bed, and a separate shower and bathroom area. They have bible studies and bingo. They also have a beauty salon in the facility which is nice. It is very clean and very modern.

We've placed mom at Altercare of Canal Winchester Post-Acute Rc. She's been there for three weeks now. The facility is extremely clean and neat. It's just a really well kept facility and the staff is just really friendly. Everybody always says hi and speaks to you. They have a physician weekly, and a nurse practitioner twice a week, so we feel like she is being evaluated very well. It just seems like a really nice place. Mom is in a private room with TV and a phone. The dining facility looks very nice, but the food, I would say, is average. It's not outstanding, but it's far better than where she was in her rehab facility. The variety is pretty good. Mom is getting physical therapy, and I know every day they have different things going on, like bingo and movie nights. They also have different churches come in for services, different denominations on different days of the week. There is a beauty salon there. She really hasn't participated in anything yet. I haven't had any complaints yet.

Lazy, uncaring, insensitive staff. The Social Worker is horrifyingly insensitive. The residents are left alone for 20 hours a day and put in diapers so the staff won't have to bother with taking them to the bathroom. The therapists and a few of the nurses and staff are great BUT for the most part those employed at Altercare of CW is lacking to say the least. The response time to patients after they've pushed their button for help is abhorrent. The communication between the Social Worker, Amy, and the patient's family is cold and abrupt. I would NOT recommend this center to anyone.

My mother came here for rehab after being in the hospital. The physical therapy seemed adequate. One of aides gave her problems about having to use the restroom so often(she was taking lasix) We also found a bag with clothing that had urine on them in her closet. An aide started to fall and either grabbed her leg or the sheet. We got two stories on what happened and this caused a very large and painful skin tear on her leg. It then got infected. It has caused her needless pain and medical bills ever since. They also refused to pay the er bill when we took her in to have it looked at after it became infected. Do not recommend!

My mother was in Altercare for rehab after her surgery. We liked it there. It was like a private room but you shared a bath with one person. Mother liked it there and would have liked to go in long-term care there. We had her name in a waiting list but they said it would be a long time before she would ever move up on the waiting list. I couldn't wait and I needed a place immediately. The staff there was wonderful. I got along with all of them. They had a lot of activities going on and mother and I took part in some of them while she was at her physical therapy there. The physical therapy was great and she was very pleased with that. They need to extend and have more rooms for the long-term care.

My mother was admitted to Altercare as an Acute Post-Surgical Rehab patient, following a fall in her home that resulted in a hip fracture. She had recently been diagnosed with probable Alzheimer's Disease, and although she tried at first to do the physical therapy to recover her physical strength, it became evident that her mental deterioration was going to prevent her from ever living independently again. The behind-the-scenes technical processes involved in transitioning Mom to a Long-Term Care patient receiving Medicaid were lengthy, confusing, exhausting, frustrating, and maddening...for ME. I am grateful that Mom never knew a moment of the difficulty I was dealing with, thanks to the wonderfully upbeat and affectionate staff at Altercare. Every person who has had a hand in caring for my Mom has been gracious, compassionate, patient, respectful, and gentle with her. We have been richly blessed to have had things work out for Mom the way they have. She couldn't be in a more friendly, warm, safe, and welcoming homelike environment for her 24-hour-a-day care that she now needs.
