I feel that the oaks of Brecksville is probably one of the better nursing homes They are not perfect and have issues too. Probably more are related to short staffed like every place else So definitely keep an eye on your family member and make sure things are right. Most of them can’t speak for themselves But over all the oaks of Brecksville is a Little better than most nursing homes If you must put someone in a nursing home check them out The rooms are large and private. The staff are nice. We had a few issues but they was resolved immediately They have activities everyday for the residents if they are capable of doing it. The food I would say is probably a little above adverage Like I said just keep a eye on them because no place is perfect and you will have to be the voice

My loved one was very neglected at Oaks Of Brecksville. She went in for physical therapy. The first four days, nothing. Absolutely nothing. No therapy and no medical equipment were provided. There was no bedside commode, there was no wheelchair, and there was no walker. There was nothing. And you have a person who can't walk, who can't get out of bed, who can't get to the bathroom, and they provided nothing upon her admittance. I would rate them very poorly. The bed was terrible. With regards to food, they served you burnt black food swimming in water. It was bad. My family member was sent there following discharge from a hospital and spent about eight days there. Terrible eight days. That was a couple of years ago. And then I went back for a tour for my uncle in the hopes that things had improved and maybe under new ownership or something, and it was not a good impression. People were standing around talking. Nobody acknowledged you or gave you the time of day. The meeting room was full of people sitting there, but nobody came out and asked, 'Can we help you? What can we do for you? Would you like a tour or anything?' I don't understand how you conduct a business like that. It was a very poor experience.

I was a resident there for 2 weeks and went there due to the wonderful reviews and reputation. I'd never recommend this facility. My bed had a "deep indentation" in it and I kept sliding down in the 'hole' and had to call for help which slowly came to pull me up in the bed and after 3 days, finally mattress was switched. Therapy for the first 3 days kept trying to encourage me to stand with assist of 3 therapists, and when I said I am not to be weight bearing and I haven't been able to stand for 7 years, they actually reviewed by chart & orders and agreed with me, but my leg wound was affected by the attempt to get me to stand. Their comment was they "don't have time to read the orders" or patient history. I often had to call on behalf of my room mate when she was in bathroom, as call bell was not in her reach. Day shift staff were better than night shift, who'd come into the room, turn off call light, said they'd be back with supplies and they'd not come back, or if they did, was right before day shift came in. When I contested an invasive lab work, I was argued with, and when I told mgmt, I was asked if I ever made a mistake. Do not make the mistake I made, don't go there!

I was a resident at this facility for six months. I was moved here by my family after spending time at what I consider a sub par nursing home. I am so grateful that they moved me. The nursing staff took very good care of me. My day shift nurses Jan and Amanda were exceptional. The state trained nursing assistants , STNAs , also did a good job of taking care of me and my needs. When I needed help, I would use the call button and someone would come to my room shortly after I used the button. The staff went from being staff to friends. The housekeeping staff took great pride in the cleanliness of their areas whether it was my room or the common areas. The rooms were comfortable. There is an associate there who daily brings around the schedule of daily events. Once a week she comes around to the residents and has a checklist of things to check in each room. In addition, she has questions for the residents to ensure that the quality of care is there. She even asks simple questions such as “ Do you have fresh water? “ If there is any type of issue you can bring it up to her or any other staff member at any time. The therapy staff helped me on my road to recovery. The two male therapists Luke and Randy helped me learn to walk after being bedridden for almost a year. I had a short stay at a local hospital while at the Oaks. Much to my surprise , Michelle in admissions , came to visit me one afternoon. I was thrilled to see her. Michelle exemplifies the character of the staff at the Oaks. The facility is located in a very nice and safe area close to the center of Brecksville on Route 21. You don’t have to pay for parking here as you do at some facilities. This review was easy to write due to all the positives. If you are in need of a good nursing home where you are assured your love one will be taken care check out the Oaks!!!👍😀
