Saginaw County Commission on Aging | (989) 797-6880 | The SCCA's services include Meals on Wheels through which homebound seniors 60 years of age and up can receive home-delivered lunches. Other nutritional support, including snacks and frozen meals, may be available too. Another SCCA program is In-Home Support Services, which offers housekeeping and assistance with daily tasks plus caregiver respite aid. Case management and transportation are among the SCCA's other offerings. |
Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency | (800) 642-4838 | Agents from the MVAA can assist older military veterans and their loved ones by providing information on available benefits. By performing benefits check-ups and working with government agencies and local organizations, the MVAA facilitates access to federal and state sources. It also oversees a document retrieval service for veterans in search of their DD-214 form. |
Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity | (989) 753-5200 | Habitat for Humanity offers a home repair service that assists low-income homeowners in making needed fixes. Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program | (800) 803-7174 | MMAP connects seniors with local counselors trained to answer questions regarding Medicare plan options, billing issues and eligibility criteria. The program may also help clients access prescription drugs at more affordable rates, and it performs policy comparisons for individuals interested in Medigap. Long-term care insurance also falls under MMAP's area of expertise as do Medicare Savings Programs. |
Region 7 Area Agency on Aging | (800) 858-1637 | The Region 7 AAA is Saginaw's point of contact for the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, through which residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities can access assistance and advocacy. Seniors may also find care management services through the AAA as well as MMAP counseling. Additionally, the AAA administers the MI Choice waiver program, which may help low-income elderly individuals afford in-home support. |
