I love the love and care that the residents receive. It may not be the newest facility in town but by far the most loving and caring. Believe me I would give some of the other county facilities a ONE star. But love my Southport Liberty facility.

My sister is at Southport Health & Rehabilitation Center for rehab and our experience has been very good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are very clean and warm. She's in a private room and it's well-decorated. Some of the rooms have a table and chairs, a refrigerator, a microwave, a private bathroom, a television, and a telephone. She likes the food, too.

My mom is in rehab at Southport Health & Rehabilitation Center. My mom was not walking at all, but the therapy got her walking. She can stand up from her wheelchair to get in her chair. She was able to do the day-to-day things. They do assist her with the bathroom. They have activities galore every day. They have maybe four or six things that the residents can choose from, like bingo. They had a Halloween party, and I went with my mom, and it was great. They had music and games. They have not just people who have family there, but people outside the community are volunteers, and I love that. The fact that they help everybody, with the residents and their families be involved. I like that it makes my mom feel like she's still part of a community. It's a smaller facility, and I like that because you get one-on-one attention. They like working together and get along well. They respect the families of the residents. It shows in their care. If you have any kind of concern, they're on top of it and take care of whatever. The food looks good, but I wish there was more variety to choose from. She has an aide that is just wonderful. She goes totally out of her way to comfort my mom. Lisa is my favorite nurse. She is always on the spot. She gets busy, and they're shorthanded, but she does a very good job keeping up with everything. The cleanliness is fine. If you see anything that needs attention, they take care of it. I can see some things that need some replacement or updating. They have movies, worship services, and Bible study. I met the activity director, and she is very active. They're probably not as expensive as the newer facilities. They also accept Medicaid, which is very important to us. The social worker there was on the spot with everything and with my mom's care. They were so happy to have my mom. They made us and my mom feel welcome.

I highly recommend Ocean Trail if you are looking for an all around great experience for a short term stay. The nurses and therapists are wonderful. They kept me informed on my husbands progress. They truly go above and beyond. The therapists are so great, my husband was able to go home much earlier than anticipated. My husband really enjoyed having a private room on the rehab hallway.

My dad was at a place called Ocean Trail. The staff was good, but the facility was more clinical. It was an older building. My dad was there a month, and I couldn’t wait to get him out of there. I’m not saying that it was a bad place, but it was a typical nursing home. It was convenient at a time, but it was the old tiled floors and the building was really old, kind of like 50s style. Food was OK though. The price was a little bit too expensive for what they offered. It was too high as far as the price.

As a nurse I have visited all the nursing homes in Brunswick county often - if I have to place a family member of mine it would be at Ocean Trail. They will provide whatever is needed - all you have to do is ask.
