This facility on the weekend doesn’t have a lot of things going on, there were people in front area. When you walked past front area nothing, nobody in the bar, sitting areas, television room, no one in the hallways except for the workers. It seemed like everyone was in their rooms. Beautiful facility but no one is doing anything.

My Mom has been a resident since 7/2020. During the pandemic and being a new facility, there were a lot of challenges but the staff always spent time with Mom and our family to get her settled. Midge in the kitchen has been a lifesaver and been very focused on Mom's changing needs and working with us on a menu that works for her issues and making sure she has assistance during meals and that they are served in a manner that works for her limitations. Jennifer, the activities Director, has a great personality and is very engaging and creative with events for the residents. All staff has worked with us to best provide for always changing issues with Mom. Beautiful facility, nice rooms.

I visited this facility

This facility feel more like a nursing home, than an assisted living. So many wheelchairs. The rooms are the size of a nursing home very small room, maybe 250 square feet. The advertising that brought us into this facility said all-inclusive. But the place has extra charges for incontinence, pendant, so not all-inclusive. There is little to no activities that go on in this facility, how many times can you watch a movie per day or play bingo. We talked to a few of the elderly, they don't go outside except for walking and never ride the bus. Food comes out on nursing home carts and trays and smells like a nursing home food. Seems they only have good food during special holidays, according to the other reviews, but that's it. No professional nurses in this building like promise during our tour. Nothing special about this facility, except for it being newly build.

This facility needs to have a family meeting like my I see on the activity calendar for the seniors. We have a ton of issues that don’t seem to be getting addressed. Nursing department does tell us that Mom has run out of medication until after it runs out, they use to tell us a week in advance so that we can order it. The nursing department seems to always to short staff, they don’t have a leader. There hasn’t been a nursing director for the last 3 months. We have observed nurses and aides verbally arguing in front of our mom. This is not what we’re presented when we moved in last year, things have gone downhill and prices have jumped over 10 percent.

I visited this facility

I attended a clebration put on by this facility for the 4th of July. It was so impressive to see the spread of food with such variety. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, barbeque ribs, Portabella mushrooms, salads, cole slaw, Potato Salad, Baked beans, chilie for the hot dogs, Water melon cut to perfection, home made cake, a variety of ice cream flavors, and any kind of drink to wet your thirst that you could imagine. Everything I tried was so good. I heard so many compliments from the residents and their families about how delighted they were with the celebration and with the care the staff showed to the residents. The food was excellent, the Kitchen staff were friendly and helpful and the Kitchen manager is so loving and kind to the residents. It is clear that they love her and she loves them. The facility is beautiful and clean. Anyone who has a loved one at Coastal Pointe can rest assured that they are well taken care of and loved by the employees. There had to be much planning put into this event. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

I visited this facility

Our family has been searching for a senior place for our mother-in-law for the last few months. We toured several places in the both Brunswick and Horry Counties, as most of the family lives in the Calabash & Ocean Isle area. We had some senior living facilities just gave us lip service, and just trying to sell us on their services but not wanting to know more about our family dynamics and how Mom lives her life now or even her history. Until we got to Coastal Pointe. Joe was great, he really dug deep into Mom's history and what her daily life and what things she worries her the most and what things make her happy. We didn't get that from the other 6 other facilities that we visited. Joe gave us a lot of information that other senior living facilities didn't give us, he has a wealth of knowledge of the elderly and services available in the area. He answered every questions, even ones that have nothing to do with his building. During our tour he introduce us to every staff member we walked the building. The other communities never mentioned the Veterans Aide & Attendance benefits that Mom is eligible for but Joe did and walked us through the process. We truly apprentice his calming manner when explaining all of the building services and really personalized toward Mom. It made her feel special. We are looking forward to Mom moving into Coastal Pointe.

My mother, a 92 yr old resident, and I wanted to write a 7 mo review of her new home & care. Mom said STAFF is the first word she thinks of when mentioning Coastal Pointe. They are caring, loving, respectful, not to mention patient when they have to repeat something 5 times because she can't hear. They don't get offended every time mom apologizes for not remembering their names even though they wear name tags. This review is not only based on mom's care but my opinion too because this is an adjustment also for family members. The clean, bright, cheerful facility is nicely laid out. When you come from a 3 BR/2 BA home naturally the room size is an adjustment but it is comfortable with plenty of natural light as well as artificial lighting & access to 2 call buttons. From day 1 to present Joe, Director of Community Relations, has helped me learn, adjust & advised moving forward into this new chapter of our lives. Jennifer, Activities Director, has every day planned with a variety of events/activities to keep everyone moving, thinking, socializing & laughing. Brittany makes sure mom takes her appropriate meds and Midge makes sure she continues to enjoy food. Jordan, Office Manager; Tina, Cathy, Sharon, Receptionists; Culinary Services; Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance; AM/PM Nursing Staff. Finally Brandy, Administrator, who keeps this all running smoothly and the staff happy. I don't want to offend anyone that I did not personally name but as you can see I am still learning & remembering names also. To summarize, Coastal Pointe has accepted mom (and myself) into their family and 7 months later they are a part of mom's family.

Just placed my sister in the Memory Care unit of Coastal Point. It is a beautiful facility. Everyone has been most accomodating to my sister. I'm sure she is going to enjoy residing there.

How does one put into words the overwhelming appreciation they feel in their heart? That’s how my family feels about Coastal Pointe. There are not enough words to express our gratitude, our appreciation, and our love for all the staff at Coastal Pointe. They so lovingly took our mother in and made her part of their family. She felt loved and protected by each one of the staff. We cannot express the peace we felt knowing she was in such loving and capable hands. The food was excellent, housekeeping did a great job and those who handled her day to day care were outstanding. Every family wants to keep their loved ones at home. But in many cases their issues are better cared for by professionals trained to do so. Coastal pointe provided such a place and a place where our mother felt at home. We send many heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of the staff that helped provide above and beyond our expectations, the loving care they showed our mother.

My mom moved into Coastal Pointe last September. The overall experience is very good. They're just nice, the employees are nice, they seem happy. They've been very patient with my mother. The assisted living where she's in is like in a big square. The rooms and the interior outdoor area are nice because it's partly shaded, but you can be in the sun. This is shaded with nice chairs. The paint is nice, the building is put together well, the materials used to build it seem sturdy. It's nice. The staff is wonderful. The only issue I've had is getting the supplements. My mother just takes supplements. She's not on any prescription medication, and it seems like I just had an issue getting that straight with them. Most of them have been fantastic. The food is really good. I eat with her a lot, and they're really good. My mother likes it. They do have a variety of activities. They're really good about trying to encourage her to come.

I liked Coastal Pointe because it was close to where I live, so it'll make it easy to visit. It is fairly new, so obviously it's clean and beautiful. The lady that gave us the tour was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have a lot of what we're looking for. They highly encourage the residents to eat in the dining hall together, so they can be amongst other people. They do activities a couple of times a day to get them out of their rooms. They have an outside atrium that cannot be accessed except from the building. They can sit outside and play games. They have stuff for them to do inside and outside. They have a memory care unit for when we need that; it'll be a smoother transition for my mom.

My mother is in Coastal Pointe memory care unit. It's brand new and we're finding it very good. They do laundry, they have a salon, activities director, and an outdoor area that's secured, so we can go outside. They have physical therapy rooms and a movie cinema. At the moment, we're visiting outside, but we're gonna be starting visiting inside due to the cold weather. Some of the staff are new, and there are some visiting transitions. We had lunch with our mother one day, and the food was excellent. She's in a single room because there's not that many people there, but she's paying as if it's a double room, so it's a better value.

My friend has moved into Coastal Pointe. He's doing activities, he's not in a catatonic state, and he's playing bingo every Tuesday. Every other week I get to hear good news that he's not nasty looking anymore. His appearance is wonderful; he's well kept up. Their clothes are washed separately, they don't go in with other patients' clothes. The place is absolutely beautiful; it is a ninety-nine grade, and it's two years old. They have gardens, and they have a fountain out there. They have chairs out there and shaded areas, he loves it. They have nurses; they have real nurses and a licensed CNA. They go above and beyond. I'm just amazed, walk-in showers, everything's designed for a patient with needs. Oh my gosh, the food should be a ten. They have a chef that is phenomenal, the food is delicious, and you can go and eat with your loved one for five bucks. You can't eat out for $5, not even at McDonald's, and get the quality food we got. They have bingo, and they have Elvis night; they have a picture of him on the wall with his little attached sideburns and Elvis glasses on. That Elvis guy comes up and they have Elvis night. They have a library, a coffee bar, a theater. It's just amazing, and they're not astronomically priced. I would rate the value for money a five plus. I can lay down at night and not worry about him. I am serious, he has come out of a catatonic state, and he is acting like himself again.
